Chapter 1

May 20XX

"Here's to one of Blackwood's newest rookie officers!" A voice said.

The person that said it was Kyle Johnson. He was referring to the fact that his sister, Maxis, had just finished her police training and was now officially apart of Blackwood's Police Department.

After making his statement, Kyle raised his glass. His actions were quickly mirrored by the others at the table, those being his girlfriend Shannon Cipher, one of their friends Evan Fong, his sister Maxis herself, and even their older brother, Tyler, who had been living with them ever since he came to watch Maxis graduate.

The group of five clinked their drinking glasses together as they made the toast, then they each took a drink.

Maxis smiled as she listened to the toast and the clinking glasses which followed, "Enought about me," she said, "anyone have anything exciting coming up, since I've been busy with my training and whatnot."

The others in the group looked at each other, with Shannon being the first to actually say something.

"Well, my Cousin Brian is coming along with his friend, Brock is coming to town and staying until sometime after the fourth of july. I'm happy to see them both again." Shannon said, with a bright smile on her face.

"That is some awesome news, Shannon." Evan said smiling over to her

"Yes, some good news indeed." Kyle said with a soft chuckle

"What is else is happening, with any of you?" Shannon asked looking to the others.

The others didn't really have much to say besides that they were just wanting to relax and have a good few months ahead of them. To which everyone nodded about.

***

Having spent the night out, four of the five had been drunk (or at least slightly buzzed), with Tyler being the "responsible" adult and staying sober for the night, so that way he could take his siblings (and their friends) to their homes for the night.

It was now well past midnight and Evan was just waking up, after having gone to sleep once he had been dropped off. It seemed as if all the alcohol he drank was getting it's revenge as Evan raced to the bathroom and proceeded to throw up into the toilet.

After flushing the toilet, Evan groaned while also feeling his phone, which was still in his pocket, vibrate.

Evan slowly pulled his phone out, seeing that it was an incoming call from Kyle. He swiped over and slowly brought the phone to his ear.

"Yeah?" Evan answered.

Kyle and Evan would talk for a few minutes, with Kyle making sure that Evan had gotten home and wasn't passed out in the driveway or anything like that.

***

After talking for about 5 minutes or so, Evan and Kyle ended the call. Once that was done, Evan got up from being slumped around/seated by the toilet and proceeded to head to the sink.

As he got to the sink, Evan opened the medicine cabinet which was hidden behind the mirror. He'd pull out a bottle of Tylenol to help ease his hangover headache. When he got the two capsules out, Evan also turned on the sink tab to get a drink as he took the medicine.

Once Evan was done taking the pain relievers, he put the bottle back and turned off the tap off. He'd then leave the bathroom and begin to head somewhere else in his house. As he did that, his phone began to ring again. Evan wasted no time with answering it, having assumed that it was Kyle calling back.

"What did you forget, Kyle?" Evan jokingly asked.

It took a few seconds but a voice responded to Evan's question, but the voice didn't belong to or sound like Kyle's.

"I didn't forget anything, Evan~ but I think you did~"

It took Evan just seconds to recognize who's voice it was. It was none other than Ghostface.

"Oh yeah?" Evan asked, "what did I forget, you bitch?"

Ghostface chuckled, "to lock your front door~"

Evan's eyes widened as he raced towards the front door and quickly turning on the nearby light to check the knobs, only to see that the door was in fact locked.

"Fucking liar." Evan muttered into the phone.

Ghostface chuckled again, "Were the doors locked the whole time or did I sneak into your house and then lock them afterwards~?" they asked, "you can't remember, can you~? because you were passed out drunk like a fucking dumbass~"

"I call bullshit on everything you said so far asshole!" Evan growled.

Evan believe wholeheartedly that whoever this Ghostface was, lying about everything, even though Evan did fall asleep as soon as he got home and couldn't remember if he had actually locked his doors or not.

"I don't know why Evan, especially when you're the one who got so drunk that they remembered the smallest thing, such as locking your doors~" Ghostface continued to taunt.

"You know, the last time someone tried this crap as Ghostface it didn't end well for them!" Evan said,

"Oh but I'm not like the others, definitely not as dumb as the others either~." Ghostface growled on the other end of the line.

"As if I believe that." Evan grumbled into the phone, "anyone willing to do and wear the same shit those other clowns did, you have to be just as dumb, if not dumber..."

Ghostface growled, "I'd watch how you talk to me, Evan~ especially considering I decide who lives and who dies~ and it looks like your time is almost up~"

The last thing Evan heard before the call was ended, was Ghostface laughing after their remark. However, it didn't seem to phase Evan, as he began to recall his other Ghostface encounter during his last year in college.

Although Evan remained calm as he stared at the doorknobs, his calm nature wouldn't last. As he looked at the knobs, trying to remember if he had locked the door or not, there was a noise that snapped him out of his thought, it sounded like glass breaking.

That noise was enough to make Evan rush towards his parents room, knowing and remembering that they had a gun hidden away.

As Evan quickly threw open the bedroom door and flipped the light switch, his eyes widened. The nightstand, that the gun was hidden in, had Ghostface's signature Buck 120 knife stabbed into the wooden top and the side drawer was hanging open.

Evan approached the little bedside table, his eyes widening even more as he saw that the gun was no longer there.

"Fuck..." Evan muttered to himself.

As Evan pondered his next steps, he heard the bedroom door close. Turning around, Evan saw Ghostface standing in the room with him, pointing the pistol at him.

Before Evan could even do anything, Ghostface fired and the bullet struck Evan, killing him almost instantly. Once Evan's body collapsed to the floor, Ghostface tilted their head to the side for a moment, before chucking the pistol to the side and walking over to the nightstand, pulling their knife out of the table's top and then slowly leaving Evan's house.
