• Chapter Eleven •

After having opened the basement door, Maxis took one step down, "If you two are making out down here instead of coming to picking me up, I swear I'm going to be so fucking pissed." She grumbled through gritted teeth.

As she made her way down the steps, she could hear more thumps and muffled noises, perhaps those were grunts and whimpers, but she couldn't exactly tell. Once she got to the bottom of the steps, she first looked to the right and saw nothing in the space there. When she turned to the left, however, she gasped and her eyes widened.

Maxis saw both her brother and his girlfriend. They were tied to two chairs, sitting with their backs to each other. Their hands and ankles were bound to the chairs with rope, their mouths were covered with duct tape and they had bruises all over their faces.

Racing over to Kyle first, since he was closer to where she was, Maxis would gently pull the tape off of his mouth and begin to rattle off a bunch of questions. Just as Kyle was about to respond, his eyes quickly darted towards the area behind her.

"Maxis, behind you!" He quickly yelled.

Turning around, Maxis leapt to the side because Ghostface was approaching her. They swung their knife at her, and much like her other encounter with them, the knife had cut her. It was another long and deep slice, strikingly similar to her first injury, just on her other arm now.

Clutching her arm, Maxis staggered back and hissed in pain. Her attention being completely focused on the masked Ghostface killer, who was now in front of herself, her brother and Shannon.

"Looks like your loud mouth brother saved you that time~" Ghostface spoke with their robotically modified voice.

"Who the fuck are you?" Kyle growled, having grown furious about everything that's happened to him, his girlfriend and now his sister, "I bet you're some fucking ugly bitch, if you need to hide behind that stupid outfit." He added.

Ghostface looked towards him and let out an audible growl, although, they didn't verbally respond with any actual words to his remark. They did, however, lift off the mask, which revealed their friend Jonathan.

"Jonathan?!" Kyle's eyes widened in disbelief, "what the fuck?!"

Jonathan smirked, "Surprised~?"

Maxis clenched her jaw as she held her bleeding arm. She was absolutely disgusted and furious that Jonathan was the killer.

"So, I guess you're all probably wondering why I did this? Right?" Jonathan asked rhetorically, his smirk remaining wide, "I was rather inspired by what John and Jaren did and wanted to finish off what they had started, while also taking out a few others who I didn't like."

After a few seconds of thought, Maxis asked, "But why would you kill Luke or Bryce, they never did anything to you..."

Jonathan nodded, "You're right, especially with Luke, he was like my brother..." he responded with a fake sounding, sympathetic tone before continuing, "After killing Keith, and later Lance, I couldn't stop myself, and quickly found myself wanting to see both of them dead too~" he cackled afterwards.

"You're a fucking psychopath!" Kyle exclaimed, his face filled with both horror and disgust.

Jonathan turned his head towards him, smirking and then breaking out in a quick fit of delirious sounding laughter.

"Maybe so," he replied, "but that can be our little secret~" he chuckled while making a shushing sound and bringing a finger to his smirk filled lips.

Maxis was already growing bored and groaned out in annoyance, "Are you going to actually do something or are you just going to flap your fucking gums all day?"

Sighing, Jonathan playfully rolled his eyes, "Fine, I guess we can move this along." He reached up and under his Ghostface robe and pulled out a pistol, "you know, I should really get around to thanking Luke for giving me this gun for my protection," he added, using air quotes.

Seeing the gun made everyone, but Jonathan, go silent.

Continuing to smirk, Jonathan looked between the other three in the room, "So, we're going to turn this into a little game called Maxis gets to watch me blow her brother's brains out, then watch me do the same to Shannon, before I kill Maxis herself~"

Kyle looked towards Jonathan, his brows furrowed, "Really? You had all this time and couldn't come up with a better name for it?" He quipped, being rather unamused.

Jonathan growled and curled his lip a bit, stepping closer to the chair that Kyle was seated in. His face twisted into another smirk as he drew the gun up. He'd then look at Maxis, who was getting ready to say something. That was until all four of them heard someome upstairs.

"Maxis?! Kyle?! Anyone?!"

It was Joey. He must've grown tired of waiting for Maxis to come back outside.

Maxis turned her attention away from the floor above and back towards Jonathan, who looked at her with the smirk still plastered on his face.

"We're down here, Joey!" Jonathan called out, while maintaining direct eye contact with Maxis.

He watched Maxis' eyes widened in horror and then saw her mouth opening, potentially to warn the other about the basement. Quickly putting a stop to that, Jonathan pressed the barrel of his pistol against Kyle's head, as if daring anyone to make a sound.

Maxis stood there, clutching her bleeding arm while feeling helpless. She couldn't warn Joey, as that would result in her brother getting killed. Whichever way you spun it, it looked like someone was going to get shot regardless. She just had to pray that Jonathan missed or that Joey could dodge a bullet.

"Jon? I didn't know you were here too..." Joey said as he came down the steps, his eyes widening as he reached the bottom and saw what was happening, "what the fu..."

A gunshot rang out and Joey's head flew back as the bullet went into him. His body soon went crashing to the floor and into the space on the other side of the steps. Maxis let out a horrified noise, Kyle gasped and Shannon whimpered softly into the duct tape gag.

Meanwhile, Jonathan looked at gun and chuckled, "headshot~" he clicked his tongue after that, "now, where were we~?"

Just as Jonathan pressed the tip of his gun back against Kyle's head, there was another interruption from upstairs. It was Evan coming through the front door and rushing around upstairs.

"What's going on guys?!?! I heard a loud bang!" Evan called out from the floor above.

Rolling his eyes in annoyance, Jonathan muttered something under his breath but then cried out, "Help us Evan! Help!!!"

Much like before, he kept the gun pointed at Kyle, making sure that no one ruined the surprise. However, this time was different, as Evan approached the bottom of the steps, Maxis took a chance and tried to warn him.

"Evan, don't!!"

That warning was too little, too late as Evan made it to the bottom of the steps and was immediately shot by Jonathan. It wasn't a headshot, though, perhaps due to Jonathan panicking about Maxis trying to warn him. After taking care of both Joey and Evan, Jonathan calmed down and turned his attention back to the remaining trio.

"Now, is that everyone~?" He asked, tapping his chin with the buck knife he still had in his other hand, "Keith? Dead. Bryce? Dead. Lance? Dead. Luke? Dead. Joey? Dead. Evan? Dead. And you three? Soon to be dead~" he finished with another delirious sounding laugh.

Maxis stood there, her eyes clouded with tears and her body was frozen in fear. She had just watched Jonathan shoot two of her friends and now, he was back beside her brother and pointing his gun at him. She wanted to do something, anything, but she couldn't force her legs to budge, and it really angered her beyond belief.

"I hope you ladies are watching this, because this is going to really be mind blowing~" Jonathan chuckled darkly, pointing the gun back at Kyle's head and he then pulled the trigger.

However, something happened. The gun just clicked and no bullet was fired. Maxis, Kyle and even Shannon looked at Jonathan, who had a slightly surprised look on his face.

"What? You didn't load enough bullets into the gun?" Kyle asked, "Man, you really are dumber than you look... How the hell did you even manage to kill the others?" He remarked.

Not liking the smartass comments, Jonathan whacked Kyle in the side of his head with the empty gun, causing him to groan out in pain. Then, he'd chuck the empty pistol aside and slowly start to approach Maxis with the knife in his hand.

"We're changing the game up~" Jonathan said, "Kyle gets to watch me kill his little sister and then his precious girlfriend, and then I'll kill him~" he chuckled, "then, everything John and Jaren tried to do, will have been completed~"

"Great plan and everything," Kyle responded, "except, you're forgetting something about John and Jaren..."

Heaving a loud and heavy sigh, while rolling his eyes, Jonathan turned back around to face Kyle, "And what's that?"

"I. Fucking. Killed. Jaren."

A voice growled. It wasn't Kyle's voice that said that, no. It was Maxis' voice. Apparently she had found enough courage, because she was charging full sprint towards Jonathan.

It was enough to send both of them to the ground and the knife flying out of Jonathan's hand. As she sat on top of Jonathan, Maxis used her good arm/hand and started to beat the shit out of him, much like her fight with Jaren, months prior. It seemed as if Maxis was finally tapping into her anger as she sent punch after punch into Jonathan's face. It looked like Maxis was going to win this fight.

At least, that was until Jonathan got one of his hands free. He would clamp his free hand around Maxis' freshly cut arm and start digging his fingers/fingernails deep into the wound.

Maxis' eyes widened in pain and she would quickly let out a loud, horrifying, scream of pain, and she was soon flipped over to where Jonathan was on top of her.

"I have to admit, it was a good fucking try, you fucking bitch~" Jonathan chuckled and growled, keeping his fingers dug into her wound as he clamped his other hand around her neck to choke her.

***

As all of this was happening, Kyle noticed that Jonathan's buck knife had landed close to his feet. He also noticed that his bindings were coming loose, so he continued to struggle and pull at his rope, and soon enough, he managed to break free.

Once he was out of his restraints, he'd pick up the knife and swoop over to the chair that Shannon was in, cutting through the rope that bound her and quickly, yet gently, pulling the duct tape off of her mouth.

"Go upstairs, get my phone and call for help..." Kyle whispered.

Shannon nodded as she got up and quietly snuck out. Luckily, for both Kyle and Shannon, Jonathan had his attention focused on Maxis and their fight. After Shannon left, Kyle looked towards where Jonathan and Maxis were and slowly began to make his way toward them with the knife tightly gripped in his hand.

***

Meanwhile, Maxis was struggling underneath Jonathan. Her vision was starting to black out, due to a lack of oxygen. She'd continue to try and push him off of her, but it was a struggle, especially with his fingers digging into her cut.

Just as her vision was fading, she felt Jonathan's grasp on her neck and arm suddenly loosen and heard him let out a pain-filled scream. Once her neck and arm were free, her lungs were filled with a surge of oxygen, which caused her to roll over on her side, facing away from Jonathan, while having a coughing fit. As she tried to control her breathing and coughing, she listened to Jonathan's pained screams and cries, until they stopped.

When the room finally went silent and her breathing calmed down, she rolled back over and saw Jonathan's slouched body getting pushed/kicked to the floor and behind it was her brother.

"Dumbass." He muttered, looking at Jonathan's body and dropping the bloody knife to the ground.

Managing to find some kind of strength, Maxis quickly made her way over to Kyle and engulfed him in as tight of a hug as she could, not caring about her injured arm. Her eyes quickly filling with tears that began to spill down her cheeks. It seemed as if all of the stress she endured in the last thirty minutes or so, had culminated into a breaking point for her, because she was beginning to break down and quietly sob in her brother's arms.

Having felt her heaving and sobbing, Kyle hugged his little sister while muttering softly, "It's okay Maxy, I got you..."

The sibling duo stayed like that for a while, until they heard the sound of boots walking down the steps. No, it wasn't another Ghostface, it was just Shannon, who had gotten off the phone with emergency services.

As the group of three reunited and were about to leave the basement, they heard a groan and saw Evan moving slightly.

"Holy shit, he's alive!" Shannon exclaimed.

"Zombie!!" Kyle yelled, immaturely, which earned a hard shoulder punch from Maxis and a rude looking glare from Shannon.

Evan weakly chuckled, "fuck. you." he managed to flip him off.

It wasn't too long after that, that the friends heard sirens wailing and could see flashing lights front outside. The night was finally over.
