Chapter 6

January 20XX

With the death of their friend, Jonathan Dennis, the group of friends started to grow distant with each other while they mourned their friend. They really wouldn't speak to each other until mid-to-late January, when Evan texted the group and told them about an upcoming hockey game that he was taking part in.

"Are any of you coming to the game today?" Evan's text asked.

"Game?" Kyle responded with, before sending another text, "hockey game?"

Evan quickly replied, "yeah! Even though Blackwood's campus is closed, the sports teams have games to play."

"That's kinda fucked up." Joey responded with.

The group continued to text for a little bit, with Evan finding out that only Kyle and Luke would be the only ones who'd make it to the game, due to everyone else being busy with work or family matters.

***

It was getting close to the time when Evan's hockey game was about to start. Kyle slowly pulled his 4Runner into the parking lot and quickly found a spot, which happened to be right next to his friend, Luke Patterson.

The two males would step out of their vehicles and greet each other, since it had been about a month since they last physically saw each other. They'd make some small talk with each other until Kyle changed the subject.

"Hey, how are you holding up Luke? With what happened to Jonathan?" Kyle asked, wondering if his friend was alright.

"I'm doing alright i suppose." Luke said with a soft sigh.

Kyle nodded understandingly, as he knew how close the two of them were. there was a few moments of silence after that, until Luke suggested they head inside to get their seats and everything else. The two of them would soon begin walking towards the entrance. As they did that, Kyle counted four police cars. Two of them parked inside the lot and the other two were currently driving around the parking lot.

Kyle shook his head, partly in disbelief and also slightly in annoyance, "Apparently Maxis wasn't joking." He commented.

Upon hearing him, Luke became confused and turned to face him, "What do you mean?" He asked.

"When everyone was in the group chat talking about who's coming to the game, Maxis told me that she was going to try and get some of the guys, at the station she's interning at, to work 'security' for the game." Kyle said while using air quotes.

Luke made a noise and just shook his head, "your sister is nuts."

Kyle nodded in agreement, "you don't even know..." He muttered to himself.

After a few more steps, the two of them were finally inside the arena. They made a quick stop at the bathrooms and then went to the concession stand to grab some drinks before heading to their seats.

***

The game was almost over and the score, as cliche as it sounds, was tied. Everyone in the arena remained silent as they watched the hockey players pass the puck. Luckily, Blackwood's team had control of it and it was passed to Evan, who took a shot and scored, just one second before the buzzer sounded.

With Evan scoring what was essentially the game winning goal, the crowd erupted in various noises. The people from Blackwood cheered loudly, while the other team's fans booed.

Soon after, everyone began to leave the arena, since the game was officially over. Kyle and Luke remained seated for a few seconds, just to let the rest of the crowd leave.

As the people left, Kyle and Luke got up and walked down closer to the rink, where they were greeted by the man himself, Evan Fong.

"What a fucking shot..." Kyle said.

Luke nodded in agreement, with the two of them watching Evan smile from the compliment.

"It's a shame that the others couldn't be here to see it, though..." Evan said, being slightly disappointed.

Kyle nodded, "at least I got video of your shot." He said, showing a small clip of it to the other two before sending it to the group chat.

"Alright, I'm gonna go to the locker room and change." Evan said.

Before he left, Luke stopped him for a second, "Are we still going out after?" He asked.

Evan nodded, "of course! It's our tradition." He said.

What they were talking about was a tradition that the group of friends started this school year. Every time the Blackwood Hockey Team played, Evan and his friends would go to his house and then they'd head out to dinner after the game was over.

"I'll see you guys at my house before we go out to eat." Evan added before heading off towards the locker room.

"I'm going to go home and also see if Maxis can get off early to tag along with us." Kyle said.

Luke nodded as both he and Kyle walked out of the arena and into the parking lot, before getting into their cars and driving off to their own houses.

***

Luke had made his way home and was slowly pulling into his driveway. once he parked his car and got out he noticed it that his parents cars were missing from the driveway which he found somewhat odd.

Not dwelling on his parents' cars for too long, Luke began to head towards his house. he walked up the steps of the front porch and soon came to a stop because the front door was wide open.

"What the hell?" Luke quietly mumble to himself, as he took one step into his house only to stop when he heard his shoes crunching on something on the ground.

Having looked down at the ground, Luke saw pieces of broken glass and soon saw the shattered window on the door. "Hello?! Is someone here?!" He eventually called out.

When he doesn't hear anyone or anything afterwards, he finally entered his house, which Luke would then begin to have a look around, where he noticed just how destroyed his house really looked.

***

After giving the house a complete look around, Luke had gone back to the front door, as he was going to call for the police through the alarm system his house had.

However, plans changed by the time Luke got to the front door because the alarm panel had been smashed and was beyond useable.

That didn't seem to bother Luke, because he pulled his cell phone out and was getting ready to call the cops, or at least that was the plan before he started to get an incoming call.

"What the fuck?" Luke quietly muttered, looking at the name being displayed on the screen.

It was a call coming from Jonathan's number. That caused Luke to become confused, but also a bit nervous and even a bit angry, because Jonathan was dead.

Hesitating to answer, Luke finally swiped over to accept the call, "H... hello?" He asked.

"It looks like someone destroyed your house Luke, huh~?" Ghostface asked.

Luke growled, "Who the fuck is this and how do you fucking have Jonathan's number you piece of shit?!"

Ghostface chuckled in a taunting way, "I'd watch how you talk to me~ No way of knowing when I'll snap~"

Luke growled again, "Well then, fucking bring it bitch. I'm not scared of you, whoever you are."

There was no response from the other end, which made Luke smirk a bit as he assumed he had gotten the better of the caller.

"Looks like you're not so tough after all, fucking pu..." Luke began to say before feeling a sharp pain in the back of his head.

What had happened was that Ghostface had quietly snuck up  behind him and had now stabbed Luke in the back of his head.

Moments after, Luke collapsed onto the floor and was dead. Ghostface, as usual, cleaned their blade and fled the scene, leaving Luke's dead body on the ground for whoever to find.

~~~
Oh shit poor Luke, I wonder what is gonna happen next! We hope ya enjoy and see ya in the chapter :3
