football game

the trio were now sat on a bench quite far from the actual game. fifi and stan sat on the lower bench and syd sat on the table next to fifi.
fifi slurped the strawberry drink the boy had purchased for her as he applauded for the cheerleaders who shouted their school's chant.
"surprised you even come to this stuff." syd spoke, "it's so lame."
"its the opposite of lame syd," stan took a sip of his drink, "it's theatre, live theatre. westinghouse memorial school on a friday night, what could be more tragic?"
"yeah." fifi nodded with a laugh, "more.... shakespearean?"
"exactly!" stan grinned, "think about it. syd the moments the lights come up on hamlet, you know it's not gonna end well."
"when have any shakespeare plays ended well?" fiif challenged him.
"right." stan agreed as he passed her his sunglasses, "take mr bradley lewis. his best-case scenario is, what, managing some regional insurance sales company? where he gets to, i don't know-"
"he gives me employee of the month vibes." fifi stated.
"mhm!" stanley agreed, "i mean these are the people that will actually attend five, ten and twenty-year reunions, because aside from this, nothing else all that noteworthy is gonna happen. this is as good as it gets, and i like watching them, like hamlet, when everything goes shit in the end... and everyone dies."
"that was..." fifi munched on one of stan's nachos, "wow."
"depressing?" stan chuckled in slight embarrassment, "it's the best theatre in town."
"deep." fifi corrected him," it was de-" she stopped herself as number seven was brutally tackled to the ground.
"oh?"
"karma's a bitch." she smirked as everyone ran to help him up.
"ooh." stan wimced.
dina ran across the sidlines as bradley stood up and threw his helmet dowm.
"fuck!" he yelled as he stood on one foot.
the pep rallly began cheering for their golden boy nevertheless.
"yeah, bradley!" stan clapped, gaining a chuckle from syd and a weird look from fifi, "go bradley, whooo!"
"are you serious?" fifi scoffed.
"you gotta love him." stan shrugged.
"agree to disagree."

"thank you for the ride." fifi tilted his sunglasses down as she opened the car door, "surprised you didn't crash."
"i focused extra hard, just for you." stan turned to face her and grinned.
she laughed, "thanks." fifi gently removed the sunglasses off her eyes, "you want them back?"
"keep them for now, looks better on you."
fifi nodded, impressed, "smooth, stanley."
"you sure you don't wanna stay?" syd asked from the passengers seat.
"you guys are probably going to get high," fiif shook her head, "plus, i should look after my brother while dad's working."
"you're a good sister." stan complimented her.
"you should tell him that." she scoffed.
"well, see ya." syd waved at her.
"b-bye fifi." stan grinned.
fifi nodded, "goodbye."
two pairs of eyes were on her as she stepped out of stanley's yellow car and walked over to her house. she stood out in the cold, her arms crossed as her brother took his time to open the door.
"open up zack." fifi knocked.
the door finally opened and her brother quickly pulled her inside.
"woah." fifi gasped as the front door slammed shut, "what is this?"
"so you and stan?" isaak smirked.
"don't be a little shit." fifi rolled her eyes, "sydney was there with us."
"who is this sydney?" isaak asked, "they sound like a real cockblock."
"watch your language." she hit him on the arm with a grimace, "you are so disgusting. i don't want to get with stan."
fifi began storming up the stairs in irritation, him following very close behind.
"that won't stop syd." isaak called out with a wink while he slid into his room, knowing she wouldn't want to enter.
"you ass!" fifi snapped as she came in behind him, "great."
gathered in her brother's room were two of his friends - james martin and oliver wittlehouse.
"hi aofie." james grinned, purposely mispronouncing her name to erk her.
"it's ee-fah." she rolled her eyes, james martin was a nuisance.
"hello fifi." oliver gave her a sweet smile.
"hi ollie."
"you didn't say your hot sister would be here." james smirked.
"dude!" isaak snapped, "you can't hit on her."
"what are you guys doing here?" fifi asked the boys.
"chilling." james shrugged.
"right." fifi nodded, "smells like mid-puberty boys in here."
"there's the door effs." isaak rolled his eyes.
"i'm liking this attention." fifi sat on his single bed.
"so what did you do today?" oliver quizzed.
"nothing special." fifi shrugged, "school, shopping, football game."
"you went to your school's football game?" isaak scoffed.
"yep." fifi smirked, "i even drove there."
"you don't have your license." isaak reminded her.
"well stanley let me drive his car, i'm good at convincing."
"maybe he's got the hots for you." oliver suggested.
"i know i do." james grinned.
"in your dreams jameson." fifi yawned.
"that's not my-"
"why else would he let you drive?" isaak questioned.
"i don't know, he was badly baked." fifi explained.
"he was high?" oliver inquired.
fifi laughed, "stan is a hard core stoner." she quickly turned to her younger brother, "don't tell dad."
"i won't." isaak shook his head, "did you smoke?"
"nah. i said-"
"weed is bad for the soul?" isaak guessed.
she grinned, "you get me."
DING
"that was your phone." james told her.
"really?" fifi gasped, "i couldn't tell."
she picked it up and saw it was an invitation to ricky berry's party the next night.
"what the-" fifi started.
"what happened?" oliver spoke.
"this guy just invited me to his birthday party." fifi explained.
"what's the problem?"
"do you think i should go?" she asked the three boys.
"go for it." oliver nodded.
"nah, you can chill with me here."
"i think you should go." isaak shrugged.
"2 beats 1. thanks guys."

"stanley barber? you fucked stanley barber?" dina laughed in shock.
dina had invited fifi to fred's dinner for breakfast the next day, with her and syd. she didn't know why, but it was nice to have new friends.
"can you lower your voice!" syd groaned, "liam is right over there!"
fifi sat next to dina in silence, the news was slightly bothering her but she didn't know why.
"how was it?" dina asked, fascinated.
"it was..." syd paused, "great."
"really?"
"really." syd ranted, "i mean he was so good at going down on me i was like... woah."
"so, would you hook up again?"
"one hundred percent." syd let out an awkward laugh.
"are you okay, fifi?" dina asked the girl who had kept quiet.
syd made eye contact with her and could clearly tell she was hurt by the news.
"yeah." fifi slowly nodded, "congrats, i think?"
dina's phone buzzed and she inspected it, "i'm really worried about brad, he's in a lot of pain."
"dina, brad's acting like he lost a leg." syd rolled her eyes.
"we were supposed to go to ricky berry's birthday party tonight." dina rambled, "but i don't think he's up for it."
"you don't need him to go to a party." fifi stiffled a laugh.
"wait, you got invited to that?" syd leaned forward.
"uh," her phone beeped again, "yeah, i guess i sort of got invited."
"right, cool." syd nodded in irritant.
"i don't... think i'm gonna go though, so...." dina told the two.
syd laughed, "what? go take care of brad?"
"dina don't." fifi sighed.
"i mean..." dina fiddled with her fingers.
"what about you fifi?" syd started, "did you get invited?"
"yeah. last night." fifi grumbled.
"fuck it, why don't we just go together, us three?" syd suggested.
"uh, sure." fifi nodded.
"ye- okay. yeah, let's do it" dina agreed, the trio clinked their cups together.

"hey girls," maggie miller, sydney's mother, walked over to the three, "good breakfast?"
"yes, thank you so much mrs miller." dina grinned.
"don't worry hun." maggie ripped up their receipt, "it's on me."
"thank you." dina smiled again.
"how come you always make me pay?" syd demanded in disbelif.
"because dina is nicer to me than you are," maggie admitted, "and i like her better than you."
dina laughed, "okay. i'll see you later."
"bye."
"have we met?" maggie turned to fifi.
"no," fifi put her hand out, "aofie jenkins."
"nice to meet you." maggie shook her hand, "i love your name."
"thank you." fifi smiled, "breakfast was great."
"glad you liked it." maggie beamed before turning to syd, "so here's the deal, karen's dog got diarrhoea."
"ew." sydney grimaced.
"i should go...." fifi turned and made her way out the diner.
