holiday plans

vacation plans

financial plans

insurance plans

plot plans

floor plans

plans to go here

plans to go there

trouble is

for every plan

that's brought to bear

one must also plan

for all of the parts

and scrolling charts

to stay

in perfect square

with reams

and reams

of tangled schemes

blanketing the table

it's easy to imagine

each one of them

are setting there

so firmly staid

and stable

yet this

is where

the fault line

lies

for the hidden surface

whereupon

your best of plans

are laid

is but a plate

of crystal made

taut and razor thin

susceptible

to any moment's whim

and could

at the drop

of a single pin

go smashing

crashing in

what was once

rock solid ground

with one brilliant

thunder clap

pulverized

to smithereens

and flung

sparkling

across the starry skies

of a mad

new realm

now seen

through

some stranger's eyes

who's oddly

taken to

the helm

let us

hope it then

my fragile friend

that serendipity

shall deign

to find

your

fancied figments

favored

and wedded to

what's sane
