-Chapter 1, Prologue-

*Hello my dear fans of the SCP corporation!
And welcome to the first chapter of this story!!
As you can see I'm trying hard to make something enjoyable, or something that can be uploaded constantly, so please be patient!
Also English is not my mother language, so if there are any grammatical or vocabulary errors, I'm sorry, and feel free to correct me. It will help me a lot!

Having said that, let's hop onto this chapter!

(Also when they are in Italic is the inside talk (is this even the term??) of the person with the point of view)(And if you are familiar with x reader stuff, you already know the meaning of every iconic thing, so yeah...but if not, y/n: your name, l/n: last name, etc.)*

It was a calm evening, the time when most people put an end to the day's hard work time for payment, and rather go and enjoy their last minutes of the day as they please. Well, if we aren't talking about workaholics, or a peculiar person, typing in a laboratory. This day could have been best described as any normal day for Y/N L/N; having to stay over hours on the university's campus for more testing.

They were trying to decipher a mysterious substance that they recently found in the area surrounding the nearby school grounds, or so that's what one of their friends claimed, who also got the weird stuff from a stranger. As much as breaking the rule of not accepting anything from strangers is concerning, their curiosity got the best of them. That thought also came through the mind of our main character.

-Y/N POV-

I heard as the last ring of the bell chimed.

Welp, there goes my already messed up sleeping schedule, and my chance to sleep in my bed.

It was a pretty late time of day, but I was still looking at the matter that was in front of me. I still wasn't able to figure out what it can be. It was both solid and liquid-like, best described as: it had a slimy texture. Every time I took my eyes off of it, it always changed its way. Sometimes the changes were unnoticeable by the human eye, like changing its atomic bonds, sometimes even the blindest person was able to notice, how big the difference was. What mostly changed was the color though. I originally got it with a pondwater-like color, now it took a more pinkish color.

I tiredly looked at what I would have been supposed to work on; my chemistry project. And it was due tomorrow. If I didn't accept the request that my friend gave me, I would have finished it sooner.

...Or not, knowing how I easily get distracted.

The point is, that now I'm not able to work on my task for the university.

I shook my head and went to the laboratory's sink to freshen myself up. I studied that, whatever you call it since lunchbreak. If anyone would have seen me, they would've had a hard time distinguishing me from a zombie.

That would have been one of the reasons why nobody ever wanted to date me, heh

As I finished washing my face, I immediately went back to work. But something was unusual. It wasn't that something was moved from it, but rather it was an eery feeling that wasn't able to leave you be, making you uncomfortable. Then the unexplainable thing happened, something that made me have goosebumps all over me.

I heard a bubbling sound.

I didn't remember putting the weird liquid-ish substance on the fire. Nor that I ever put the fire on. By the time I turned, I was too late to power it off. The matter was already on fire. Normally, people would expect that things on fire can be seen slowly deteriorating, and turning black. As long as I was able to watch it, that thing was able to last the heat without physical change, except for the burned black color slowly coming to its texture.

Discovery: That thing is flammable with a fire-resistance.

While I was fascinated by the weird reaction to fire, I wasn't able to realize, that, unlike the substance, the other things around the room may be in danger. I only was out of my daze when I notice the fire slowly creeping towards the explosive chemicals. I was trying to go for the sink in a hurry, trying to get the fire down, but accidentally hit some of the other corrosives making one of them burn part of my skin.

The pain was visible in my eyes as I soaked a cloth that I can use to put down the fire, tears slowly forming in my eyes. My eyes started to get foggy as I didn't notice my surroundings, slowly going to what I thought was the shelf with the explosive chemicals.

It only needed one wrong move. Just one. And afterward, all hell broke loose. I wasn't able to react on time, and then the next thing I knew, I was on the ground losing a lot of blood.

Everything was a mess, the matter on my burned hand, chemicals all around me. Parts of the building were slowly falling. I barely noticed that thing, slowly affecting my arm, before I passed out.

News

Around xx:xx o'clock in the morning, the laboratory of (sch/n=school's name) burned to the ground leaving no traces behind. The firemen arrived at the scene moments after the full building caught on fire. Investigators caught a clean form of a human among the ashes, yet no human was found in the area. The police are still questioning the eyewitnesses of the case.

At the same place, Y/N L/N the (sch/n) student was reported to be missing. If you know about their state or if you have seen them, report to the police as soon as possible.

*Aaaand that's all!
I thought to make this first chapter of it more as a backstory for the reader, before we head on to the main story of it! I hope you still like it though! ^^"
...Also I have nothing else to say.

So I guess we arrived to the end of this chapter!
See ya on the next one!

Bye~*
