I was baffled when I realized that his refrigerator is empty. I went towards the couch where I placed my bag and took out the extra money I have and decided to buy some foods for him.

Luckily, there was a convenience store located just below his condo unit. I immediately bought an instant noodles just to warm himself up and a couple of medicines for him just in case. I also made sure that he has a thermometer available in his unit before I went here.

Once satisfied, I went to the cashier to pay and return to his unit and check on him. Darkness has consumed the sky and I knew that at that particular moment, my sisters are home already.

After I unloaded the foods inside the refrigerator, I quickly pulled out my phone and true enough, they bombarded me with questions about my whereabouts.

I wasted no time and called one of them instead.

"Sis! Jusme! Bakit hindi ka sumasagot? Kanina ka pa namin tinatawagan! Alas-otso na ng gabi!" It was Amaris who was frantically complaining to me.

"Sorry! Akala ko nagsend ang message kaninang hapon. Hindi pala nagsend kasi nawalan ng signal." I said apologetically.

"Eh, asan ka ba kasi ha? Bakit hindi ka nagsasabi?" Amaris shot back in an irritating voice.

"Uhm, I am actually here in Jacob's condo unit." I said almost in a whisper.

"What! Ano? Bakit! Binigay mo na agad ang Bataan? Pinilit ka ba nya o ano?" Amaris exclaimed in disbelief.

I shook my head as if she can see my expression. "No! No! No! Please, wag naman kayong magconclude agad! Let me explain, first!" I begged.

"Siguraduhin mo lang na magugustuhan ko yang isasagot mo ha. Nako, sis!" Amaris said in a sarcastic tone which I understand knowing that is how she is.

"May sakit si Jacob. And nagmagandang loob lang akong ihatid sya dito sa condo nya dahil hindi na sya makakilos sa library kanina." I answered slowly.

"Napakabait naman talaga! O sya, anong oras ka uuwi? Dyan ka na lang kaya muna? Gabi na, baka mapaano ka pa sa daan nyan. Sigurado naman akong hindi magtatangka yan dahil injured yan." Amaris said all in one breath.

"Hindi ko pa alam. But, I will let you know before 10pm if makakauwi ako ha. Love you sis!" I said and I heard her sigh.

"Okay. Fine. Sige. Ingat ka dyan ha. Banatan mo agad pag nagtake advantage." Amaris remarked and I had to smile at her joke.

"Yes po. Goodnight. Pakisabihan nalang si Amira para sa akin ha." I said again before we hang up.

I began heating the instant noodles and went to Jacob to check his temperature.

From a seemingly 39 degrees celsius at the library four hours ago, it went down to 37.8.

I tapped him lightly on the shoulder to wake him up and eat but all he did was held on to my hand.

"Just stay for a moment, please." He mumbled and I sighed.

Looks like I will be spending my night here.
