Five
After two more days, I became well again. I was able to catch up on school works, all thanks to Duchess and Alexa.
I presented my Excuse Letter with my Medical Certificate as an attachment.
I am still continuing my medicines since I have to take it for a month without fail.
Usually, me and Jacob never talk in the university.
It's as if neither of us exists.
But, at the end of the day, it seems so natural for him to text me and ask how I was feeling.
He was consistent showing his care for me and I was careful not to fall into his trap.
Honestly, I don't know what his intention is but I was careful not to be swooned by him.
Thankfully, my friends didn't notice the change in my behavior lately.
Normally, I wouldn't be seen holding my phone unless it's after class as I proceed to my duty in the Library.
But, as days passed, specifically after a week, I barely put down my phone.
I would often hide my smile and giggles and I acted like a teenager who just got noticed by her crush, for Pete's sakes!
"Hey, sis. Seriously? Kahit habang naghahapunan? Hawak mo yan?" Amira asked, frowning.
She was seated across me while Amaris is on my side.
The other corner was our counter where we can freely watch whoever was cooking.
Today is Friday. A weekend.
We were lucky that the university employees have their annual retreat and we were given a no-classes day that was scheduled on a weekend.
I have forgotten our deal!
We vowed never to bring gadgets on our dining table since we respect God's graces in front of us.
"Sorry!" I said and had my phone placed on top of the couch.
"Grabe, sis! Ano meron? May textmate ka na?" Amaris wiggled her eyebrows as we started eating after we said our graces.
I shook my head and bit on the meat hoping Amaris will let it go.
"Nako ha! Hindi ka na nagkwekwento sa amin!" Amira complained and raised an eyebrow at me.
I chewed my food silently and forked a slice of fresh pineapple which I had bought for us from the fruit stand nearby.
"Ano 'to, dedmatology? Kakatampo ha!" Amira added and I sighed.
"Wala yun, mga sis. Tara kain pa kayo." I said and gestured the pineapple slices in front of us.
"Hey, news says you were seen hanging out with Jacob Zelstra last time." Amaris said, out of the blue.
I gulped slowly. I tried to appear unaffected and that it wasn't a big deal.
"Tsismis lang yun." I said simply and savored the sweetness of the pineapple.
"Tsismis? Eh may picture kayo sa labas ng bahay naten?" Amaris exclaimed and grabbed her cellphone from the top of the center table a few steps away from where we are right this moment.
She threw her phone on top of our dining table, enough for Amira and me to see the said photo.
True enough, there was a photo of me and Jacob, grinning at me as he tried to hand me the paper bag.
It was a side profile, alright.
But, our faces are crystal clear and there was no denying it's us!
I was just wearing my pj's on because it was the day when I was sick and he paid me a surprise visit.
"Sana all may pabitbit!" Amira exclaimed and shook her head.
"Seriously, sis? Hindi ka man lang nag-ayos? Alam mo na may bisita ka?" Amaris rolled her eyes at may fashion statement.
"Alam mo namang anyone can mistake the three of us. We're identical triplets!" Amira added.
"Still hindi naman lahat alam na may triplet ka. Or ako. And we have different hairstyles, so it's obvious who was it." Amaris objected. "Alam ba nila Duchess, Alexa and Jacob na yan na may mga kapatid ka? Knowing you, malihim ka."
I shook my head.
"See! That's what I meant!" Amaris said and rested her chin on the back of her right palm.
"Sabagay. Even my workmates don't know about you guys." Amira admitted to us.
"I know. Same here. I just wanted to protect you, sissies. I felt the need to. Sana maintindihan nyo." Amaris sighed and closed her eyes.
"Hey. Oo naman. We wouldn't do the same thing as you do if we felt otherwise." Amira said in a consoling voice.
"Sorry, girls. I should have known that Jacob is a big shot and I will be in this spotlight. I'm so sorry." I apologized and soon we were in a hug fest.
"Ang drama! 'Di bagay! Oy, yung gamot mo. Inumin mo na. Baka mag-alala si Papa Jacob mo." Amaris said in a teasing voice.
"Hoy, Mari, ikaw maghugas nito ha. Ako na naghain!" Amira said and winked at me before she went out of the dining room.
"Ano pa nga ba!" Amaris rolled her eyes and started clearing out the dishes.
Amaris turned to face me and raised an eyebrow. "You go and rest. Saka na pag oks ka na talaga, ikaw magkikilos."
I nodded and gave her a quick hug before I grabbed my phone on the couch and ran to my room.
