"Jump! Swipe! Dodge! Tumble!" Orders were barked into Honeykits ears as she quickly performed the difficult actions with small success. Her jump was a light hop and her swipe looked as if she was a newborn kit batting at a butterfly. Honeykit knew she was bad, she knew she wasn't the best, but it didn't help the pressure, it never helped.
Every day the voices in her head would tell her she wasn't good enough. They would taunt her with insults and jokes rangeing from size to skill. This did not push her, especially when those harsh, crackly, voices became a reality everytime Foxstar spit commands in her ears.
Honeykit panted, her legs swaying back and forth as blood rushed to her ears. Her vision blurred with white dots as she struggled to regain her full strength, she swayed from side to side before her tiny legs buckled underneath her own weight. She panted harder now, this time struggling to regain the slightest bit of strength. Her legs numb, throat dry, vision almost dead by now.
"Oh get up you over-dramatic flea-brain!" Foxstar spat harshly to the young kit. The large she cat circled her, her green eyes squinted and glaring into those of Honeykit before walking over and scratching the young kit on her tender flank. Honeykit helped in pain as she was scratched by the she cat.
"That is enough for today you useless bag of fur. Come back tommorow when your skill is better."
The large flame colored she cat walked of, leaving the young golden kit lying there, a small gash oozing blood. It wasn't until a small black and white tuxedo tom approached that Honeykit's vision focused as she gave a sigh of relief.
"Honeykit! Oh no not again! Did she harm you! Oh StarClan why!" Spiderkit's panicked mews filled Honeykits brain. It was nice to know she had a supportive brother at her aid.
"I'm fine Spiderkit, calm down. Just in a little pain." Honeykit sighed. She wasn't lying, she was in pain. But she was not fine and it was much more than a little pain.
"Let me to get some cobwebs from for you. I know how to apply them!" Spiderkit said happily.
Honeykit sighed, "That would be great, let's go." Honeykit tried to stand, her legs wobbling wildly and vision beginning to blur again. Spiderkit scrambled to her side, catching and supporting her shoulder.
"Not so fast tiger, allow me. You are no where near ready to stand." Spiderkit caught her paw before she could object with a slight scratch. Honeykit watched as the small tom padded of to the cozy warmth of the medicine den. Only moments later was it that he padded back out again carrying cobwebs and a few other herbs unfamiliar to Honeykit. He was followed by the clan medicine cat, Snowdrop, who was carrying multiple different plants of different features and scents. The pair padded over to the spot in the clearing of which Honeykit sat, and began to apply the herbs to her wounds.
"Ok Spiderkit, so see these gash on Honeykit's foreleg, we are going to use these herbs to make a poultice for the wound." Snowdrop pushed the pile of different leaves over to Spiderkit.
"Spiderkit, take these leaves and chew them to a pulp while I apply the cobwebs."
Spiderkit chewed the leaves to a perfect pulp and spit them out on to the small leaf that Snowdrop has laid out for him. He quietly applied the poultice to the hash on Honeykit's foreleg and wrapped the given cobwebs around her wound and nipping off the ends of the cobwebs to finish the wrap.
"There!" he announced triumphantly. Spiderkit quickly checked his handy work and added a second layer of cobwebs just to be sure. Honeykit twitched her leg and slowly started to stand up, with a small wince she stood up and padded over to Spiderkit's side. Snowdrop gazed at him with a proud smile, warming her face with pride for the young kit's talent. Spiderkit twitched his paws nervously, a small smile spreading across his face.
"Very good Spiderkit, you've done a fantastic job!" Snowdrop gave both kit's a warm smile before grabbing her herbs. She began to pad of towards the medicine den before turning around to face Spiderkit.
"Oh, and Spiderkit. Thank you for the help, it is welcome anytime!" The white medicine cat then continued towards her den, the kit's watched until her shadow faded into the faint darkness of the medicine den. A smile widened across Spiderkit's face as he turned to face Honeykit.
"Oh my StarClan! Did you see that Honeykit! Snowdrop said I did a fantastic job! Do you think i'll get to be her apprentice?" Spiderkit was hopping up and down faster than a rabbit in WindClan territory, and they were quite fast.
"Spiderkit, there is no doubt in my mind that you will not get to be her apprentice." Honeykit smiled at her younger brother.
"You really think so?" Spiderkit's smile quirked into a questioning look. Honeykit could easily tell that he was very passionate about this idea, and didn't want to cause any doubts in the young kit's mind.
"Of course! I mean, you're passionate, and respectful, helpful, kind, curious, and even comforting! All qualities a good medicine cat should have." Honeykit smiled, she was honest about everything she said, she really believed he would be the best medicine cat ShadowClan has ever seen. Spiderkit smiled at her and licked her cheek, her comforting words were soothing to him and gave him confidence.
"Thanks Honeykit, that makes me feel a whole lot better!"
Honeykit purred at the sight of her happy younger sibling. They'd be apprentices soon, ready to serve their clan. But she knew that even if they served in different ways, her and Spiderkit would always have a special bond.
Honeykit nudged him, "Come on Lizard-brain, lets go to the fresh-kill pile."
Spiderkit nodded in agreement as the two walked towards the center of camp. But as Honeykit neared the middle, she couldn't help but noticed the squinting glare of Foxstar's eyes. The leader's gaze burned into her mind, leaving her breath raggedy and her heart quickened. Honeykit turned away from the evil she-cat's glare and padded after Spiderkit. But when she turned around to check for the flame colored she cat again, she was gone.
~Guys thank you so much for actually reading this chapter, if you did. I have probably spent this entire week coming up with new plot ideas. I know its always boring when there's just one plot, so there are going to be a TON of plot holes, and mysterious that you will just have to keep reading to understand. I've just needed to introduce the characters in a way that seems fitting. Stay tuned for more!!~
