WARNING: Implied eating disorder

I screwed up.

I screwed up.

Waking up in Shawn's bed the next day with nothing on besides a pair of boxers showed how much of a screw up I was. I told Michelle that I do not have feelings for her yet here I am in the bed of someone who doesn't love me and who I don't love back.

Wow, I'm an idiot.

I looked over at the clock, my throat tightening at the time. 5:30 flashed at me, letting me know that whatever happened between Shawn and I made us exhausted. The dull twinge at my temple and my odious breath proved once more that this was a drunken hookup and no feelings whatsoever were involved. I sighed to myself, trying to not let a tear roll down my cheek as I picked a random shirt. I slipped it on, not even checking to see whose it was as I put on my jeans. I put my shoes on, not even caring to tie them as I walked to the front door. I sobbed suddenly, covering my mouth as I opened the door quickly. I closed the door just as quickly as I opened it, not caring if I woke Shawn up.

I am an idiot.

I hate myself.

I am selfish.

Selfish for not reciprocating my feelings for Michelle yet going to the person I hooked up with everyday my first semester of senior year. I hate this.

I'm so selfish.

I drove to the hospital, rain still falling down as both my tears and the raindrops blurred my vision. I didn't deserve Michelle, especially after this. I know Kirstie is going to give me the biggest lecture of my life. She always put me in my place, no matter how much the truth hurts.

It's what I deserve after all.

I pulled up to the hospital, taking a deep breath before wiping my eyes. I tried to make it look like I wasn't crying because Kirstie will say right away that I don't deserve to cry. She's right, she's always have been. Whenever someone got hurt by someone and the perpetrator cries because of it, she will tell them right away that they have no right to cry. She is brutal whenever she protected anyone who got injured. I know she has something in store for me.

I deserve it.

I sighed once more, stepping out of my car as I let the rain dance on my skin. I shivered, trying to make myself warm as I stepped into the hospital. My visitor's pass was surprisingly valid, the wide-eyed morning nurse letting me into the pediatric ward. She didn't even have the chance to ask me why I was wet because a small made contact with my cheek. I was not surprised to see that it was Kirstie, her eyes red and cheeks stained with tears as she glared at me.

"How dare you?!" Kirstie yelled, making everyone around her flinch. A mother with a crumpled tissue in her hand looked up, swallowing heavily before slipping a cone mask on. "You hurt Michelle!"

"Ma'am, I'll have to ask to leave if you yell. Children are sleeping." The morning nurse replied gently, standing up with a walkie-talkie in her hand. Kirstie took a deep breath, grabbing my arm and dragged me to Michelle's room. She closed the door quietly, making sure not to wake up her younger sister. I looked over at Michelle, my heart breaking even more.

She's so beautiful.

"You have no right to look at her." Kirstie whispered angrily, making me turn around. She was about to tell me something when she looked at my shirt, gasping quietly before looking up at me with glossy eyes. "That's Shawn's shirt, isn't it?"

No point in lying now.

I nodded, unable to speak as I looked at my feet. Kirstie scoffed, walking over to the door. She opened it, shaking her head as she looked at me. I opened my mouth for an explanation, but she shook her head. I walked over, hearing her say one more thing before she closed the door.

"Your visitor's pass isn't valid."

And the door closed.

~~~
Kirstie and Michelle came home a few days later and they have not said a word to me since. In fact, no one of us have said a word to each other. My dad is becoming more irritated with me while my mom doesn't care. My house sucks and I just want everything to go back to normal.
But I ruined everything.
Michelle was disconsolate, her brown eyes no longer having that innocent spark in them. Her eyes were older now, darker even. Her mischievous smile was replaced by a dour frown and she no longer laughed. Her bright and cheerful clothes were replaced by sweatpants and sweaters that practically swallowed her. This is my fault.
Mine.
With the new shift of our personalities, dinner was awkward and quiet. Of course, when isn't it quiet? Michelle played with her food while Kirstie didn't even touch her food at all. Now that I think about it, Kirstie hasn't really had anything to eat since she moved in with me. Does she...
No.
She can't.
Right?
I was so focused on Kirstie when my mom cleared her throat, I almost fell out of my seat. When I managed to sit still, I heard Michelle giggle quietly. I looked up at her to see that she was covering her mouth, a ghost of a smile on her face as she looked at me. I smiled back at her as my mom began to speak, everyone's attention shifting over towards her.
"I was looking at our credit card bill and I saw that over $150 was spent on dieting pills." My mother started off angrily, not noticing how Kirstie's eyes widened. I did though. "Money does not grow on trees! You three know better! One of you better confess or I will make sure you will meet dire consequences."
"What are dieting pills?" Michelle asked quietly, looking over at my mom. My mom sighed, her angry look disappearing slightly as she looked over at Michelle.
"They're pills that are used to make you lose weight. If too many are taken at a time, they could hurt you horribly." My mom replied calmly even though i knew she wanted nothing more than to scream at the top of her lungs. "Moving on, if you do not reveal yourself by tomorrow, everyone will be grounded for a long time. Especially you, Scott."
"Yes, ma'am." I murmured, eating the rest of my food without talking to anyone. Once everybody was finished, I called for Kirstie. She looked over at me, her face screaming with annoyance. "Stay here. I have a question for you."
She sighed, shaking her head as she stayed in her seat. My eyes started to water at the fact that she could be injuring her body in one of the most harmful disorders ever. I hated this so much. I hate the fact that my beautiful friend is hurting in ways I cannot understand.
I wanted to help her so bad.
It was quiet for a few moments and before Kirstie could say anything, I began to speak.
"You ordered those diet pills, didn't you?"
Her jaw dropped, her eyes looking at her lap as she tried to ignore me. I tried to speak, but she interrupted me before I had the chance to do so.
"If you tell anyone, I'll hurt you." She whispered silently, her eyes glistening with tears. I nodded, a tear rolling down my cheek as I looked at her.  "I have been struggling with body issues for a while now. I've been wanting to lose weight since forever and those pills are helping me. I'm finally losing weight."
She sobbed quietly, her eyes closed as her face became red. I tried my best not to cry, holding my friend close to me as she cried. She's hurting and I didn't know. I'm a horrible friend.
"I haven't had an actual meal since my dad died, Scott. My stomach aches everyday, but I just can't do it. It scares me." She whimpered, practically wailing at the end of her statement. I held her tightly, finally releasing my tears. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry."
"Don't be sorry. Don't you ever be sorry." I mumbled, kissing her temple gently. We continued to cry, her fragile body holding onto me like it was the last thing she would ever do. From that day on, I vowed to always protect this girl.
~~~

"Scotty?"

I looked up, smiling when I saw Michelle in her school uniform. She was wearing khaki trousers, most likely hiding her scars from the world. My smile immediately fell when I saw the tears in her eyes, walking up to her slowly so I wouldn't scare her. She was still having a hard time trusting me, especially after I told her I didn't like her back.

Even though I might have been lying to myself that day.

"What's the matter, love?" I asked, a concerned look on my face as I looked at Michelle. She sobbed quietly, wiping her eyes as she looked at me. She opened her mouth to say something, but my dad called her before she could say anything.

"Mitchell, you have to go to school!" My dad called, Michelle whimpering quietly. I looked at her, clearing my throat before yelling down the stairs.

"Actually, Dad, Michelle isn't feeling all that great. she has a really bad cold." I lied, looking over at Michelle. She smiled weakly, nodding her head as she tried not to cry more. "My professor also canceled class today so I get to stay home."

Another lie, but anything to stay away from that conservative mouth breather.

"Okay, thanks for telling me." My dad replied, exasperation in his voice. Michelle seemed to tense at his words, her eyes welling up with more tears as she looked at the door. "Get better, Mitchell. Kirstie, come do-"

"Actually, I'm not feeling well either." Kirstie interrupted, her hair in a messy bun. She was actually sick, her nose red and runny and voice raspy. "I must have caught something. Sorry."

My dad shook his head, slamming the door on his way. The three of us looked at each other, hysterically laughing at the situation. Finally, no dad or mom to worry about. We have a day for ourselves.

"Could I wear a dress?" Michelle asked shyly, her smile more prominent as she looked up at me. Her smile was finally coming back, making me smile back. "I feel more pretty in it."

"Of course." I answered, her smile wide as she ran off. I looked over at Kirstie, the conversation from last night still raw in my memory. I shook my head, taking a deep breath before speaking. I decided to talk about Shawn instead, wanting to think of something different for Kirstie's sake. "Listen, Shawn and I just hooked up. it meant no-"

"I know." Kirstie replied softly, her smile wide. I was confused, not understanding why she wasn't super mad. "I'm still mad, but I know that you will never feel that way for Shawn. Your heart is meant for Michelle and I will stand by you every step of the way. Love her. I mean it."

"I will." I promised, smiling at Kirstie as my phone began to ring. It was Kevin, making my heart soar as I answered my phone. "Hello?"

"Scott, I have hormone shots for Michelle. Just try to bring her over sometime and we'll give her a check up to find out which course of treatment will be best for her."

"Thanks, Kevin. That means a lot, man."

"Of course! Now, I need to go. I have a lot of patients today. Goodbye."

"Bye." I responded, hanging up with a smile on my face. Michelle is getting what she deserves! I turned around, a smile on my face as I looked at Kirstie. "Kirst, Miche-"

My jaw dropped suddenly, my eyes wide as I dropped my phone. Michelle was wearing the same pink dress she wore not too long ago, Kirstie's smile a mile wide as looked at her sister. She truly is gorgeous.

"Am I pretty?" Michelle asked, blushing as she looked up at me. I nodded, unable to say any words as I looked down at her. I noticed that she had eye shadow on, making her eyes look innocent yet seductive at the same time. "Really?"

"Yes." I managed to get out, brushing her short hair back. Kirstie was gone, making me curse internally. "You're stunning."

Michelle giggled, blushing as she looked at her feet. I put my hand under her chin, making her look up at me. For a few seconds, we just stared at each other. Only our eyes spoke, tellling our stories to one another. Our lids interrupted our eyes, our bodies inching closer when...

"Mitchell, take off that dress! Now!"

A/N: Well...this is going to be fun.xD Sorry for the lack of updates. Life is busy and stressful atm.:( Anyways, I hope that you enjoyed this chapter and remember that I love you all.<3
