Danger is ahead!

Okay, this is something I hadn't heard of until just recently. It appears that our solar system is passing through a mysterious interstellar space cloud, one that's not supposed to be there. The interesting thing about this is that NASA knew about this from data obtained from Voyager in 2009.

This mysterious gas cloud is the Local Interstellar Cloud (also called the Local Fluff) and it's 30 light years wide and composed of hydrogen and helium atoms at 6000 Centigrade. The reason that it shouldn't exist is because high-pressure supernova exhaust should have dispersed it. In fact, the observed temperature and density of this mysterious cloud is not enough to resist being dispersed.

Data from voyager indicates that this Fluff is strongly magnetized (4 to 5 microgauss) and this is why it can resist begin dispersed. In fact, this Fluff cloud is being held in place directly beyond the edge of the heliosphere (where the solar wind bucks up against the interstellar medium). Both Voyager-1 and Voyager-2 have reached the edge of this heliosphere border, which astronomers call the outer edge of the solar system. At this border the solar wind inflates a magnetic bubble to more than 10 billion kilometers and this bubble helps shield us from the galactic cosmic rays and interstellar clouds.

The problem is that these interstellar clouds of gas are magnetic and exert pressure on the Sun's magnetic bubble, compressing it, which could lead to more cosmic rays getting into the inner solar system.

This is not an immediate danger because this compression will take a hundred thousand years as our solar system moves from one interstellar cloud to another 100,000 years. However, these interstellar clouds, especially the Local Bubble, can have temperatures as high as a million degrees. Ouch!

The Local Bubble consists of at least 15 interstellar clouds of charged plasma within 15 parsecs from the Sun. Some astronomers think that the solar system is already plowing into the Local Bubble, which is at a million degrees.

Of course, the doom's day nuts have jumped on this to say that it's the end time as told in Revelations. Another group of nuts claim that the pyramids are sending energy beams into these interstellar clouds. I find this ridiculous because the beams would have had to be sent out a very long time ago to be reaching these clouds that are light years away.
We didn't even know any of this bumping into interstellar clouds was taking place until just recently.
