Alien Object Conspiracy

This is something that happened recently. Astronomers sighted the first ever object from beyond our solar system. It's believed to be an asteroid 400 meters long and reddish in color.

How do they know it wasn't from our solar system?

That's because it came from above the ecliptic, the orbital plane of our solar system. The object A/2017 U1, was first sighted on Oct. 19, 2017 by the Pan-STARRS 1 telescope on Haleakala in Hawaii. The other reason it was considered to be from outside our solar system is that it was moving too fast, approximately 27 miles per second with respect to the Sun when it came from directly above the ecliptic. As it passed the Sun on September 9, 2017, the object turned and came back up to the ecliptic as it shoots out of our solar system.

The conspiracy comes from an artist's rendition of the object, which depicts it as a cigar-shaped object with a dark red metallic coloring. This immediately caused many people to claim it has to be an alien craft. The problem with this is that it never attempted to slow down and come near any planet in our solar system. It has a hyperbolic orbit, which means that its orbit is open ended not elliptical like planets and asteroids. It approached the sun at a distance of 23 million miles at 55 miles per second.

This mysterious object caused people to speculate about where it came from. It was named Oumuamua, a Hawaiian term for messenger (a messenger from afar arriving first) or scout. That implies that it's an alien spacecraft. The fact is that it's similar to other asteroids or comets in our solar system. One suggestion as to its origin is the Pleiades group of young stars, which is also called the 'Local Association'.

Yes, it's possible that it came from one of those nearby stars, but it probably was thrown out of its solar system because it wandered too close to a gas giant. This happens to comets and asteroids that dare to pass too close to Jupiter.
Another theory is that it came from a white dwarf. As I've pointed out before, a white dwarf is the final stage of a star like ours. After our Sun uses up all of its hydrogen and expands into a red giant, it will blow off its outer layers and remain for billions if not trillions of years as a white dwarf star, a dim (about 0.3% the Sun's luminosity) object that's no longer fusing. The theory speculates that the object got tossed out of its solar system because it came too close to the white dwarf, which has very powerful gravity. If it did, it was lucky because white dwarf stars suck up dust and small objects.

My take on this is that no one knows for sure what the object is or where it came from. If we call it a UFO, the U part of that means unidentified.
