Drafting a horror story
(from Ashley's point of view)
It was a warm, sunny evening when Five detectives started investigating a murder scene. The five detectives were Andrew, Sasha, Henry, Lea and Ashley, our main detective. A cabin in the woods, near a cave. On the first day, Andrew, one of the detectives, had to bring his little sister to the scene since there was no one else home to look after her. Everyone told her to be careful. There were clues all around the place. There were crushed posts, nuts and things I couldn't say in a polite manner, but made them throw up. There was blood everywhere, dripping and drying and rotting, quite the horrid sight. It smelled awful. When suddenly, a strange melody started playing, seeming to come from the cave. Sasha and Henry began to look inside the cabin, none of them noticing Andrew's sister's disappearance. After a bit, Andrew noticed and decided to look around, until he heard a petrifying, high-pitched scream. His sister. Coming from the cave. They all decided it was best for him to go on his own, they'd be more safe then. The less blood spilled, the better. Ashley waved bye before Andrew wandered in, unaware of the dangers within. Sasha and Henry came out of the cabin, with urgent news.
"Guys! We found some traveler's journal...from what's left that I can make out, it says to beware of the stone that lures." Sasha uneasily recited, clutching the blood-stained journal.
"Give that to me!" Ashley shouted as she snatched it from out of Sasha's hands. From what she could see of the first page, in smudged writing it said "beware of the stone that lures..." But the rest was smudged, so much it was illegible. You could only make out a few other letters.
"But what kind of stone lures?" Henry asked.
"You tell me!" Lea started. "You found the journal!"
Ashley then walked away to inspect the entrance of the cave, seeing that there were many blood splatters, looking like they had been crushed straight out of the vein. Just then, she heard the sounds of bones cracking and being crushed. This startled her, so she stepped back.
"Guys? GUYS!" Ashley bellowed. "I think there's something in the cave...Andrew hasn't come back yet!" Ashley explained, showing the blood splatters. The rest of the crew took this seriously, so, again, Sasha and Henry investigated. They went in. After a couple hours, Henry rushed out, covered in blood and vines, panting heavily.
"MONSTER! SASHA...SHE- SHE- SHE'S-" Henry choked out before falling. It seemed as if he had had a heart attack from the shock and died before they could get any information. They tried to wake him up, but it failed.
"Ashley? Something's up. Definetly up. In the cave. I'm going in." Lea uttered over Henry's corpse.
"No! Are you stupid? You're going to die! We have to get more of an idea of what's happening. Maybe the rocks here are really unstable and they fall. It would explain all the crushing." Ashley yelled.
"Well, then why is there no rubble? It doesn't make sense!" Lea Spoke in frustration. "I'm going in."
And with that Lea dashed into the cave. Ashley knew Lea was far faster than her and that she wouldn't be able to keep up. Ashley went in as well. With a flashlight, she headed off into the darkness. She heard grinding from far away, plus Lea's scream. The grinding sound became nearer. Louder. She kept on wandering through the caverns, feeling on the brink of insanity. Then it hit her. "Beware of the stone that lures..." The crushing...the monster Henry was talking about...And it was right in front of her. She shone the flashlight right on it. Huge, silver stones, piled up, bloody, circling her...And in her last moment, she saw all black and red. She had been crushed. Obliterated. Combusted. She was now no more than a bloody corpse, plus a broken flashlight, dead, on the floor of this cavern.
