Chapter 3: ....Well, THAT was unexpected
A/N: Sorry about the whole not updating thing. I'm lazy, I procrastinate, and I had so much school work to catch up on. Like, two weeks of school to catch up on. Again, I'm sorry about the delay, but without further ado, on to the story!
After the whole "getting chased by a mob or two" fiasco, Kolo and Ash wandered inside the school to get their schedules. Almost immediately, they bumped into someone. Ash stumbled into a wall, and Kolo fell on his butt. "Ow!" Kolo said. He started grumbling. "My bum is definitely worse for wear. What is it with us bumping into other people?!" Ash shook of the dizziness from walking into a wall, and immediately helped Kolo up. They looked to see exactly who they bumped into. On the ground, a redhead wearing a sweater vest with a camera around his neck sat. Ash did a double tale and said "Trevor?!" Trevor looked up to the familiar voice and almost fell back down. "Ash?! You go to school?!" Ash rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah, my mom got a job offer here in Vaniville. So, here I am!" Trevor ecstatically laughed and looked over at Kolo. "So, Ash, who's your compani- THE CHAMPION OF KALOS?!" Kolo chuckled uneasily. "Yeah, the one and only." Trevor still looked shocked. "But don't you live in Anistar City?" Kolo immediately responded. "Yeah, but my story is the same as Ash's. My mom got a job offer." Trevor understood and turned back to Ash. "So, what have you been up to?" Ash chuckled and said "Well, I won the Alola League and became the first Champion of Alola." Trevor nearly fainted. "You- Champion- won- the League?!" Ash excitedly smiled. "Yeah! Isn't it great?" Trevor straightened his posture and smiled. "Congratulations! I'll go get the others." Ash and Kolo looked confused. "Others?" Kolo asked cautiously. Trevor smiled and said "Yes, the others. Tierno, Shauna, Clemont, Bonnie, Calem, and Serena." Ash smiled. He remembered all of those people, even though he only briefly met Calem. Kolo, however, instead of paying attention, was looking around the busy main hall. "They said they would be here at this time..." He said under his breath. Ash curiously looked over at Kolo. "Did you say something, Kolo?" He inquired. Kolo startled and looked back at Ash. "Yeah, my friends said they would be here. I wonder where they are." Ash and Kolo stood on the edge of the Main Hall, waiting for Trevor to come back with the group and for Kolo's friends to appear.
Five minutes later, a pair of hands covered Kolo's eyes. "Guess who?" said a soft, feminine voice. Kolo smiled. "Hmm, let me guess... Topher!" For that, Kolo got a flick behind the ear. He turned around and smiled. "Hey, Kate." The teen immediately buried herself into Kolo's chest and he wrapped his arms around her. Ash looked on in confusion while Malamar cried out happily. She disentangled herself from Kolo and held her hand out to Ash. "Hello. I'm Katelinn Lawrence, but please, call me Kate." Ash shook her hand and thought for a moment. He then smirked. "Kolo, you didn't tell me you had a girlfriend!" Kolo smiled happily as Kate greeted Malamar. Suddenly, Kate's backpack started shaking and moving. Ash jumped back and pointed at the offending bag. "It- it- it moved!" Kate started laughing and opened the bag. A small, purple head popped out. It had eyes like gems and two purple fins, one on each side of its head. Kate smiled and stated "It's just Sableye! He's my partner." She then turned to the little impish Pokemon. "Have a good nap?" The Pokemon jumped out of the bag and shouted "Sab sab!" Ash noticed that the Sableye was wearing a little arm band on its upper left arm. Kate stood up and the Darkness Pokemon scrambled up her leg and onto her back. It wrapped its arms around her neck, giving itself a piggyback ride from its Trainer. At that moment, an Aggron appeared. "Long time no see, Kolo!" Ash stared on in shock and confusion, thinking that the Aggron had talked. The Aggron slightly turned, and Ash noticed a male teenager that looked surprisingly similar to Kate riding the Aggron. Kolo then walked up to the Aggron and reached under the armor on its head. He then proceeded to scratch underneath the armor, and Aggron visibly relaxed. The boy riding Aggron dismounted and pulled Aggron back into its Pokeball. He looked to Kolo and Kate. "Hey guys." Kolo walked up to the teen and shook hands with him. "Hey, Topher." The boy walked over to Ash and offered his hand. He smiled. "The name's Topher, Ash." Ash did a double take. "How do you know my name?" Topher just chuckled. "You are the Champion of Alola." Ash rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah, I'm still not used to this. Sorry." Topher and Kate laughed. They stood next to each other. Ash startled. "Twins?" Both nodded at the same time, and Ash started laughing.
Pretty soon, Trevor came back with the group. Kolo quickly examined the group. He liked to read people like books and figure them out. Shauna was wearing pink, had large pigtails, and was jumping up and down. She had a large grin, which Kolo noted as her being excited and excitable. Trevor was her polar opposite. He was pale, thin, and looked quite shy in front of Topher and Kate. Both gave off good vibes, even though they were opposites. Tierno, however, was someone he could do without. He was staring at Kate in a way that made Kolo want to kick his butt. The dancer rushed over to Kate and kneeled. "Will you be my girlfriend?" Tierno asked. Topher and Kolo marched over to Tierno and glared. The combined force of the duo's anger was enough to make Tierno reconsider his offer. "She's taken." Kolo growled. Tierno's eyes widened and he scurried away making an excuse about using the restroom. Kolo pretended to dust his coat off and Kate giggled. The Kalos Champion resumed his "soul-search," as Kate called it. Calem looked fine. A little serious, and his proximity to Serena means either related, dating, or he has a crush. Probably the last, as Serena looked uncomfortable with Calem's closeness. Clemont was nervously staring at Topher and fidgeting with his glasses. He was probably a mechanic or inventor, judging by his clothing and tech-y backpack. Another blond, this time a girl, seemed to be a sister. Bonnie was smiling ecstatically at Ash and jumping up and down. Excitable, but more knowledgeable than most see. Then, there was Serena. That, was the most interesting person in the group. Shy with people not her friends, as judged by the way she looked apprehensively at Topher. Probably a Performer, as judged by her fashion sense. And, oooh, a massive crush on ya boy, Ash. That was derived from the way that she smiled at Ash and blushed when he smiled at her. Calem didn't look too happy about that, though. The group didn't know what to think when they saw Kolo. He was slowly examining all of them, and stopped at Serena. He appeared lost in thought, and suddenly smirked. He turned fully to Serena, walked up to her, and whispered something in her ear. She suddenly blushed heavily, and he pointed at Ash with a knowing smile. Serena blushed even more heavily. With that, Kolo walked back. Kate flicked his chest, and Kolo burst out laughing. He whispered something in Kate's ears, and she too doubled over in hysterics. Trevor looked confused. "What's so funny?" He questioned. Kolo looked at him. "Something Serena may or may not tell you, even though it is kinda obvious." He replied.
Calem was getting angrier by the second, and stalked up to Ash and Kolo. "I challenge you to a battle!" Kolo and Ash didn't even look surprised. "Which one of us do you want to go toe to toe with first?" Ash asked. "You," the trainer pointed at Kolo. Kolo smiled, and then looked serious. "One rule, which goes for both of us." Kolo gestured to himself and Ash. Calem nodded. "Don't give us a boring battle. The only people that really give us a challenge are the Elite 4 and Champions of other regions." Ash looked at Calem and added "It is your funeral, after all." Calem scoffed, and Tierno reappeared. "He's the school champion." Tierno explained. Kolo mouthed an "O" and smirked. He then gestured to the battlefield and to Kate. "May I escort thou fairest princess?" She shook her head and took his hand. A lot of people had been watching the group because of the two Champions, and a lot of girls sighed because one of the Champions was taken. Once the group got to the battlefield, Kolo gestured to Clemont, then the referee box. Clemont walked over, and got ready to start as the Trainers took their sides. "This will be a 3v3 match. Substitutions are not allowed. Once one Trainer's Pokemon all faint, he loses. Please send out your first pokemon!" Kolo tossed out a Pokeball in a relaxed manner, and out came a beautiful Ninetails. It stretched and yawned. Calem was very obviously pissed at the disregarding manner of the Ninetails, and sent out a large, brown pokemon, with a pouch on its stomach. "Kanghaskaaaan!" It yelled. Kolo smiled.
"Nasty Plot!" He commanded. A dark light took place in Ninetails' eyes, and it got a wicked grin on its face while an orange, rising aura surrounded it. "Mega Punch!" Calem commanded. (I don't know what Kanga knows, so I hope this is right.) Mega Punch landed a direct hit and Calem smirked. But his jaw dropped when nothing was there. Suddenly, Ninetails seemed to materialize behind Kanga. "Flamethrower!" Kolo yelled, and the raw heat actually made Calem feel like he was having a heat stroke. Kanga flew into the side of the school, and slumped down. "Kanga and Kanga Jr. are unable to battle! Ninetails wins!" Clemont exclaimed. Calem brought Kanga back and sent out his next Pokemon. "Go, Garma!" The Ghost type rushed around the field. Kolo offhandedly gestured to the Gengar. "Extrasensory." The Psychic attack blasted Garma into the stands. When the smoke cleared, Garma was down. Calem was shocked. Nobody had ever tossed around his Pokemon like this. "Go, Marisso!" Kolo sighed. He had actually thought Calem was going to be tough. "Flame-sensory!" Calem and the watching people gaped as Ninetails launched Flamethrower and put a ring of Extrasensory around the flame. The two struck at the exact same time, and Marisso was tossed into the air. Calem slumped to the ground. He had laughably gotten the crap beat out of him. People were either staring at him and Kolo in shock or laughing their heads off. What surprised him was the fact that Ninetails and Kolo's famous Scizor threatened the crowds away and sat next to him. Kolo plopped down in front of him. "You okay?" He asked kindly. Calem glared at him for a second, and launched himself at the Kalos Champion, pummeling his face with bony fists. Kolo went into momentary shock, but realized what was happening. He managed to catch a punch and slam his knee into the back of Calem's skull. Calem crumpled, leaving Kolo to get up shakily. Kate rushed over to her boyfriend and started kissing his closed eyelids and cheeks, asking if he was okay. Kolo weakly smiled. "I think the kiss healing strategy would work better if they went right here." He said as he pointed at his lips. She rolled her eyes at him and kissed him, straight on the lips. Kolo smiled again, but froze. His eyes rolled back into his head, and he fell to the battlefield ground. The last thing he saw before he went unconscious was the terrified face of Kate.
An update?! Yeah, I was surprised, too. Took me a while for this chapter, so I'm sorry. So...
See you in the next chapter!
