Chapter sixteen: The Dance (part two)
Chapter sixteen: Lloyd
I kept looking at the door, wondering where Alex was. Hank told me she was in the infirmary, but I didn't have the time to visit, nor did he tell me why she was there. Broken arm maybe?
The reason why I couldn't visit is because Kai wanted me to do this, my last class was Extra Classes, and Cole convinced me we needed five hours to get ready.
Which turned out to be handy, but that's not the point.
I sighed, shoving my hands in my pockets. It wasn't like Alex to stand me up but......
Standing up and headed for the door. Maybe Madame Pomfry and Jean would let me dance with her there.
Hopefully anyway.
"You know the dance is in there right? Why are you leaving so soon?" A tall, blonde, S.H.I.E.L.D agent asked.
"My date isn't there. I'm going to find her." I said, before sprinting to the infirmary.
Carefully, I pushed the door open and looked in. The room was dark, probably so the kids in here could sleep...must've not been allowed to the dance...
"Alex? Alex! Hello?" Silence. Pushing the door open I looked around.
There was a couple people lying in the beds, probably from potions class or something. But Alex wasn't there.
"Alex? Alex?!" One of the kids shifted and looked at me.
"Can you itch my arm?" He asked, gesturing to his broken arm. I shook my head, giving him a sad smile.
"Sorry, I'm looking for someone." He sighed and shifted again, trying to sleep. I looked around again.
"Alex?"
"Lloyd..." I spun around. No one there....
Come on Lloyd. Put in your ninja training....focus.....
Lighting up my fist I held it up. The fire brightened the room. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw something rush by, before hitting a wall.
"Ow!!" I grinned.
"Ale......" I trailed off. It sounded like Alex, but it didn't look like Alex.
The girl stared back at me with red feline-like eyes. Holding up my fist, I saw green...skin? Green...fur? I'm not sure...anyway, on her back she had matching green hummingbird wings. Cat ears and when she smiled, I could see fangs. Her hair was black, with red bangs. Behind her, I saw the flick of a lion tail. She was pretty, but I liked Alex better.
"Oh, sorry. I thought you were something else. Have you seen Alex McCoy?" I asked. The girl's eyes widened as she backed up. Or she tried too anyway. She clearly wasn't sure how to fly yet.
Maybe a new mutant for Xavier's?
"Well? Have you?" The girl let out a growl and flew off. I frowned.
What was she mad about?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Apperantly Alex was supposed to be in the Hospital Wing however Madame Pomfery has no idea where she went. So I went on a little....uhh.....hunt. I was afraid of checking the dorms just in case Xavier was making sure no "excited" teens went back to their rooms to um..."play".
Anyway, I checked the Tech Lab, the Science Lab, the History Classroom, the Spy Classroom, Xavier's Classroom, the giant Library, Doc Strange's classroom, Battle Strategy, the Guidence Counselors office, Ancient Languages, the Cafeteria, the Study Hall classrooms and...the Hallway.
I also ran into Zane, but I didn't care much. I needed to find Alex.
Finally, I did the one thing I probably should've done in the first place. Talk to Xavier. You know, the mind reader.
"Mom!! Have you seen Xavier?" Mom looked at me and frowned.
"He was in his office. I mean the Headmaster's office. Why?"
"No time!! Bye!!" Sliding past Cole, who probably wanted me to do something, I ran to the Headmaster's office,
"Professor, Professor, Professor!!" I cried, running towards the door. I paused and tried opening the door, but it wouldn't budge.
"Password?" The door asked. I groaned.
"Professor!!!!!" I yelled, banging on the door. Backing up, I watched as the door opened.
"Yes Mr. Garmadon?" I sighed, finally taking a deep breath.
"I need to find Alex." Professor raised an eyebrow.
"You don't know... of course. Hank didn't tell you." He said, before sighing.
"She's outside Lloyd. And I suggest you be careful to what you say. Alex is in a delicate situation right now." Nodding, I ran towards the front door of the school, running as fast as I could outside.
"Alex!! Alex!!" Silence.
Come on Lloyd, where could she be?!
Trying to focus, I tried summoning my dragon, but nothing happen.
'You must control your fear. You cannot let it control you.' Right. Control my fear.
Still nothing.
"Alex!!! Alex!! Alex, come on please!!! Was it something I said?" I didn't see Alex after breakfast, so I have no clue what I could've done...
"Yes!! Now go away!" Perking up, I looked around. It sounded like it came from the Quidditch field...
"Alex?" I asked, running towards the feild.
"Go away Lloyd!!" Sighing, I looked around the felid.
"Look, Alex, I'm sorry for whatever I did to you. I apologize and I'm sorry and why did you stand me up?!" Hearing a growl from behind me, I spun around and found myself face to face with the mutant girl from before. In the hospital wing.
"How can you apologize if you don't even know what happened?! You didn't visit me in the Hospital Wing, nor did you recognize me, and you act like I was the one who screwed up!!" Wait... why was this girl... Oh... Oohhh... Crap.
"Alex, I wanted to visit you but I was busy!!! Kai wanted me to do this, my last class was Extra Classes, and Cole convinced me we needed five hours to get ready!! And about the accident thing, Hank wouldn't tell me what happened!! He said it wasn't my business!!" The girl--I mean Alex, glared at me.
"So now it's Hank's fault?!"
"Well he didn't tell me that you changed, so I guess so!!" Alex sighed, her shoulders slumping, looking defeated.
"He really didn't tell you?" I shook my head, looking away from watching Alex's tail flick back and forth.
"No he didn't. And I'm sorry." Alex smiled and hugged me.
"I'm sorry too."
As soon as Reyna ran out the door, I stood there for a couple seconds, waiting for my brain to kick in. It took a while, as another song started playing, but finally my brain sent me a message.
GO AFTER HER MORON!!
I stared running after her, pushing past Aang and Katara, Sokka and some girl I didn't recognize, Annabeth and Percy, Harry and Ginny, Ron and Lavender making out (ugh; I think Harry called it snogging), Kitty Pryde dancing with the earthquake boy, and a bunch of other happy couples. They weren't my focus right now, so I kept running.
Why did Reyna run? It...was just a kiss...I mean...it's not like I asked her to marry me or something!!!!
"Reyna!! Reyna!!" She whipped around and glared at me, which I was not expecting when I finally caught up to her.
"Go away!!" I slowed to a stop, my mind racing. Needless to say I was very confused right now.
"Please Reyna, I'm sorry... I guess...I shouldn't have kissed you...or something.....I don't know what I did wrong!!!" Reyna sighed and looked away.
"Go away Peter. It'll be better for both of us if you leave." Better for both us?! What was she talking about?!
"I can't leave, this is a school!" Okay that was dumb even for me.
"You know what I meant!!" I groaned.
"Reyna, please!! Come on, tell what's-." And there she goes.
Shoving my hands in my pockets and walking back in (saying hi to Agent Bobbi first), I sighed, looking around.
Why couldn't MJ be a hero too? Then I would've been dating MJ and not Reyna, and none of this mess would have ever--
"Reyna get smart and finally leave you?" I glared at her. Now was not the time, Annabelle.
"Shut it Chase!" Percy rolled his eyes.
"Annabeth be nice." Annie grumbled something under her breath, but I ignored her, turning to look at Percy.
"I might have... um...kissed her and she might have run out on me." I said. Percy winched.
"Oooo, ouch dude. Not cool." Would've been funnier if Iceman was telling me that.
"Yeah, and worst of all, she won't tell me why she ran out!" Percy frowned, scratching his chin.
"Well I think-."
"You think?" I interjected, before I could stop myself. Percy glared at me.
"Shut up. Anyway, I think that because Reyna has a terrible history with Aphordite-."
"Umm... who?" My Greek Mythology was much more rusty than it should've been, considering I share a room with a Demigod.
"And the fact that she once had a crush on both Jason and Me--."
"Jason and I. " Annie and I corrected.
"She may feel like she's being unfair to you for some reason." I blinked. That...actually made sense? Percy Jackson did think, apparently.
"When did you become good with relationships and girls?" I questioned. He shrugged.
"No clue. Back to the point, Reyna won't let you sneak up on her or talk so... dude you're screwed." I facepalmed.
"Thanks Percy." He winked.
"No problem bro." Shaking my head, I tried to think of a plan.
A plan.
A plan...
A plan...
My eyes landed on Harry and it clicked.
You see, Harry had this invisibility cloak and he never let Percy or I touch it, for reasons that aren't really important right now. However I knew where he kept it and that it would hide me from Reyna.
So maybe sneaking up on Reyna was a bad idea.
--------------------------------------------
After grabbing Harry's cloak from his tunk (I never understood why Harry never used this thing on his stupid cousin Dudley) I swung to find Reyna. It didn't take long, as she was sitting on the front steps (not sure how I missed her), so I planted myself next to her. Invisible of course.
Reyna didn't notice however, as she was too busy crying, with the comfort of her dogs Aurum and Argentum. Which I guess Argentum noticed someone was there, cause he kept looking in my direction.
"I'm sorry Aurum...I can't hurt him..." I frowned in confusion. This isn't what I was expecting.
"How would you..." Crap. Great going Webhead.
Reyna shot up, frowning, wiping the tears away from her face.
"Peter!?" She looked up, then down, then on the building. Smirking slightly, I crept behind her and whipped off the cloak.
"You rang?" Alright so...I forgot she had a very strong arm, and a habit of punching people.
Stupid Spider-sense.
"OW!!!" Reyna gasped, instantly bending down.
"Oh my gods Peter I'm sorry!! You caught me by surprise!" I groaned, making sure my nose wasn't bleeding. Good news! It wasn't.
It just hurt. I think broken too. Ow. Doc Oc had nothing on Reyna.
"Yeah, well I blame my spider sense." I said, standing back up, gently poking my nose as I did so. Reyna chuckled slightly, shaking her head.
"Blame everyone but yourself." She teased. I raised an eyebrow.
"Who said I didn't blame myself? I snuck up on you."
"Perhaps not a good idea." I snorted. No kidding.
"Let's get you to the hospital wing. I'm sure Jean Gray can fix that nose right up for you." I stopped her before she could lead me anywhere. My nose hurt a lot but this needed to be done first.
"Actually Reyna, I need to talk to you." She sighed, taking a step back.
"Peter I--." I held up my hand, and thank God she didn't break it.
"Let me speak. I want you to know that I'm sorry for kissing you, but I don't regret it." Great start Peter. Great start.
"I don't regret it because I care about you Reyna, and if I overstepped or you don't care about me the same way, then please tell me now, so when we go home for Graduation or for the summer, I can move on and not feel guilty about it." Reyna hugged herself, rubbed her shoulder nervously as I spoke. Sensing that I hadn't gone too far over the line, I continued.
"I know you had this crush on Jason...and he got Piper, and Percy, and then come to find out he has Annabeth, and that I'm probably a huge step down from them, cause I'm just a silly mortal in spandex, but I don't care because I really, really, really care about you." Reyna sighed.
"I care about you too Peter. I just didn't want you to go through the same pain I did. Lady Aphordite said--."
"Who is this lady?" She didn't answer me, only continuing to speak.
"She said that my heart couldn't be healed by any demigod. I thought I was taking advantage of you because you aren't a demigod." That sounded... completely and utter ridiculous, but I didn't say so.
"Reyna... You aren't going to hurt me just because you had some bad luck with love in the past. It doesn't really matter anymore cause it's in the past. Like Sensei Wu always says, The past is the past--."
"And the future is the future." Reyna finished, wrapping me in a tight hug.
Reyna and I had some bugs (haha get it? Bugs?) to work out, but I think we'll make it through it.
Together.
