I Didn't Mean for This to Happen
Chapter 1, The Mess.
Everyone was so happy that night. They were cheerful and energetic. Then we found the house. At the time, we called it the Repeat House. Some say if you enter, you go in loops. Others say you live your nightmare over and over. I didn't think it was real. No one did. We were just kids. That's all we were, kids you wanted to have fun and play games.
Megan was a bit more adventurous than the rest of us, always wanting to explore anything and everything. We were out in the forest camping. We thought it would be fun. We didn't know what would happen. No one did.
Megan started to tell campfire stories. Everyone around was Brian, Jordan, Megan, Me, and Nikki. Nikki was more logical, but dumb when faced with a real scenario. She gets scared easily. Brian is strong, but freezes in fear. Jordan is smart and tries to do stuff he can't. Me, I am Kai. I live in a small town. Portarue. It's small, so every knows each other. Be from going to school together, or just bumping into each other on the streets.
Anyway, Brian started to tell this story about the old family in the Repeat House. The two girls got scared so Jordan made jokes and pushed them. Megan said we should go. So we did. I really wish we didn't. I wish we couldn't. But we did.
We all agreed, Nikki needed more convincing but eventually she gave in. Her black hair was long, but put in a messy ponytail. I liked her a lot. She was beautiful.
Megan lead the way as some made jokes and tired to scare each other. When we got to it, a eerie silence started. No one said anything. Only when Megan started to get closer did I dare to speak. "Is this..a good idea?" I asked, sounding unsure. Brian teased me. He said I sounded like I was believing the stupid stories. I didn't want to say anything, but I was terrified. I wish I said something.
Nikki ignored all of us, deciding she had enough as she opened the door and entered. I looked over and felt my heart stop as I heard nothing. "N-Nikki?!" I called, panic clear in my voice. I closed my eyes tightly before hearing her come back.
"This place looks like no one has been here for years." I heard her soft yet sharp voice say. I opened my eyes. She wasn't wrong, the place had dust building up, wood cracked or fully missing, and it looked abandoned for years now. It was. It was made in 1989, it was 2 stories and had a basement.
Brain chuckled. "No dip." He remarked as he entered, Jordan following. I couldn't move, frozen a bit. I slowly started to walk as Megan dragged me.
"Come on, it will be fun."
"How?"
"Adventure?" She said, smiling at me. I felt safer at that smile, giving a faint one back as she stepped into the house. It disappeared as fast as it came when I stepped into the house, taking a couple steps.
Then the door slammed shut behind me.
