" What does orphan mean?" innocent 5 year old Myra asked her father as they returned from an orphanage after doing some charity .

Rakesh replied, "Daughter you are too young to understand what being orphan means".

Curious little Myra replied," Tell me papa , I am a big girl now . I will understand it " .

Rakesh sighed and he spoke out , "Myra when a child loses his parents , he becomes an orphan .

"Last year I got lost in the annual fair , I could not find mummy and you . It means that I became an orphan at the annual fair".

Rakesh hugged Myra and he said, " Myra being orphan is a nightmare .When someone becomes an orphan , his heart breaks into million pieces .

"Myra your Papa loves you immensely, if you will ask him then he will listen to you . Since how long I am trying to wake him up but he is not listening to me. Myra dear wake him up" wailed Rekha .

Myra was looking at Rakesh's face without a blink . Myra stood there emotionless like a statue . "Myra bid your father a final goodbye , touch him for one last time . Hug him affectionately for one last time because afterwards you will miss his embrace " spoke out Myra's mother in law .

All this while Myra's mind was totally numb to act or react to anything. The grief of losing her father was overwhelming . Myra had not only lost her father but she lost her friend , her secret keeper . The man who leaved no stone unturned to fulfill Myra's wishes , dreams and aspirations was gone forever .

As mortal remains of Rakesh were taken out of the house , Myra collapsed out of grief and emotional trauma . Rekha was inconsolable . Ayush did the last rights of his father . On the thirteenth day a prayer meet was organised where all friends , family and relatives consoled Myra, Ayush and their mother .

Rekha was trying her best to cope up with loss of her husband but Myra still didn't knew how to process her father's death . Myra until now didn't speak a word or even didn't shred a tear .

After a few days when Rekha felt better and stronger, Jha family finally left Myra's maternal home .On their way back to Jha mansion one side Kaya sat while on the other side Samir sat with Myra in between them.

Within last 20 days Myra was unable to do her personal chores on her own. Kaya all this time remained with Myra like a shadow , helping Myra with her personal and other chores . Everyone was astonished to see the maturity of Kaya who is just 12 yr old .

Kaya took Myra to the room while Samir followed them on his wheel chair . The day ended swiftly and the night came. Myra have not slept since her father passed away . It was the sleeping pills in the food that made Myra sleep for a while but now due to excessive use the sleeping pills are not working on Myra's body .

Everyone tried tricks to make Myra sleep but nothing really helped . Samir at last spoke out," Everyone it's too late now . All of you go and sleep . I will look after Myra ".

Kaya and her parents went to their respective rooms . Samir then laid Myra on the bed and he said, "Myra now try to sleep or else you will fall sick". Myra was lying on the bed with her eyes wide open . Her skin looked pale and her eyes had deep bags under them .

Samir's heart churned seeing Myra in such a terrible condition. He knew that now it was necessary to make Myra cry out her trapped emotions . Samir then made Myra sit on the bed . He then applied oil in Myra's hair and he hummed a song just like Myra's father used to do before marriage whenever Myra felt stressed .

As Samir applied the oil and he hummed a song , Myra immediately remembered her father .Myra's eyes welled up and she hugged Samir . After that Myra cried her heart out while Samir rubbed her back and he said," I know how lonely you are feeling right now but Myra now you are not alone . I promise ,I will be your partner in your happiness, pain and grief ". Then Myra spelt peacefully in Samir's arms .

Samir then looked at the night sky and he spoke in his mind," Papa I promise that from now onwards I will keep your daughter Myra safe and happy" .

Parastin means to keep safe. Samir has now resolved to keep Myra safe and sound. He has decided to keep Myra happy and safe from all difficulties of life .
