11.

Taehyung sighed loudly as he approached the closed door. He didn't think his job required him to babysit two young adults.

He could hear the human, Jungkook, inside the house pacing around like a maniac. He was murmuring nonsense and his breathing was hectic.

Taehyung slowly reached over to knock causing him to gasp. Immediately, he ran to the door and opened it up.

Once he noticed that the one behind the door was not his friend he gripped the door tightly. His heart was still racing and his shirt was damp with sweat. The purple under his eyes made it evident that he hadn't had enough sleep.

"May I help you?" He attempted to not sound scared, but he was. One look at the tan man in front of him and Jungkook could tell he was one of them.

"Jungkook?" He questioned.

"Uhh...no. You have the wrong apartment—"

Before Jungkook could even move the door, Taehyung put his hand up stopping it. The panic started rushing through his veins and he attempted to shove it as hard as he could, but was unsuccessful.

Taehyung did not even move with his failed attempt to close the door. He was very unamused by his actions. Like he could out power gin.  Finally, Jungkook spoke up in the middle of his pushing.

"You cannot stay here! I do not care if you're homeless or an immortal!"

"Homeless?" He asked stepping inside.

Jungkook shrieked and moved away from him, "Yes. Aren't you trying to take my space?"

"No. I'm not homeless." He said offended. With a quick glance, he analyzed his outfit which seemed fine to him. Maybe it was because his shirt was not tucked in right or maybe it was the messy bun with the falling strands on the side.

Jungkook did not seem so convinced of this. He didn't have to say anything because his look said it all so Taehyung spoke up again.

"I am with the kingdom."

As soon as he said that, Jungkook's face went pale. He bowed and briefly closed his eyes regretting his stupid childish behavior.

"I apologize sir. Please forgive my rude behavior."

Taehyung felt uncomfortable to be spoken to so politely. He was not the king so why was this man suddenly praising him?

"There's no need for that. I am here because of your friend."

Jungkook straightened up and gulped down nervously. These two nights without knowing about him had nearly driven him mad. The only image on his mind was Hoseok devouring Jimin and leaving him without a pulse.

They both had different views about immortals despite them being so close. Jimin was fascinated by them, intrigued and attracted to them. Whereas Jungkook feared them. He thought they were everything but captivating.

"What happened to him?" He asked, concerned. He was so afraid that he had forgotten to ask politely.

"He's going to live in the castle from now on and he has requested for you to live with him."

"What?"

"The king is going to marry your friend." He stated casually as he looked around the small apartment. "I don't think you'll need any of this." He added walking to the door.

Jungkook was in shock at what was just said. He stood frozen until Taehyung turned to look at him. "Are you just going to stand there or are you coming?"

•••

"This will be your room." Taehyung said.

Jungkook timidly stepped inside the big room. His eyes drifted in all directions. This room was on the bottom floor.

"What?"

"Can you not hear?" He asked louder.

"I am here for my friend. Why am I seeing this room?"

"I know, I just thought you'd want to know where you're going to stay."

Jungkook remained silent. His eyes kept scanning the surroundings. The room was a beige color and the bed sheets and curtains navy. It contrasted well with the light wall color.

"All for myself?" He finally asked, turning to look at the strange immortal.

"Yes."

"I am still confused. I haven't seen my friend yet. How am I getting a room already?"

"I assumed you were going to accept. You'd be stupid not to."

"I need to see my friend first."

"Very well then, I suggest for you to get comfortable because you will end up staying. I have some clothes if you want to try them on. Unless you want to go back and get the ones from your apartment."

"Do you have anything that matches?" He questioned out loud. He hoped that he hadn't heard his impulsive question but of course he had.

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"Pardon, I—I—"

"Oh. I'm not matching again." Taehyung said in realization. He quickly brushed it off, "I'm sure you will find something in my closet to match."

Jungkook's face turned bright red, even though this man was awkward and looked quite like a slob he was very alluring. Handsome and intimidating.

"The king told me to offer you my clothes. You will get your own soon enough."

"I...I can always go get mine. If I do decide to stay."

"Very well then. Let's go see this friend of yours."

Jungkook nodded following him behind. Three steps later, he felt pressure on his bladder. He had been so stunned that he had forgotten to listen to his normal bodily functions.

"Excuse me sir?"

"What?" Taehyung asked, slightly annoyed. He should be taking care of important commands, not giving tours to teenagers.

"May I use your restroom?"

He sighed pointing to the door at the end of the hallway. "Hurry up please." He commanded and Jungkook nodded quickly, excusing himself.

Taehyung grew impatient and couldn't help to hear the sound of his jeans unbuttoning in the bathroom. So, to not be a creep he walked away towards the entrance in hopes to drown away those sounds.

When Jungkook finished, he opened the door and noticed that Taehyung wasn't standing there anymore. He wiped his hands against his shirt and took careful steps.

"Hello?" He asked quietly.

His adrenaline kicked in telling him he was in danger. He was alone in a castle full of vampires. A sudden noise startled him and instead of walking away from it, he walked towards it.

There he saw a familiar man, Vernon, holding a stack of papers. He smiled and approached him within seconds.

"Jungkook! How lovely to see you! Why are you here?" He asked a little too excited.

Jungkook took a step back, surprised at his attitude. The first time he met Vernon he was very serious and almost seemed like he was dead inside. The only time he got this excited was when he was ready to feed.

"I'm here because I...uhh..."

"Hey listen, I've been really craving your blood lately. Maybe we can meet up—"

"The human is off limits." Taehyung interrupted.

Vernon raised his eyebrows and moved away from Jungkook. "I do apologize, I didn't know you had claimed him."

"I'm not property. I'm an actual human—" before Jungkook could continue Taehyung got in front covering him from Vernon.

"I am not claiming him. Jungkook will live with us from now on and his blood is off limits. That's the kings orders. If you wish to participate in your weird kinks do it elsewhere."

Jungkook's face got bright red. Vernon did not seem intrigued or offended at Taehyung's confrontation. He finally nodded, "Of course."

Before walking away, he gave Jungkook one last look. Taehyung seemed pretty disgusted as he motioned for him to follow.

"It's not a kink. I didn't—I—"

"I don't not need your explanations." He said firmly.

Jungkook nodded, still very embarrassed. As much as he wanted to defend himself he kept quiet and obeyed the orders as they went up the stairs.

Meanwhile, Jimin nervously bit his nails as he looked out the window. His breakfast was untouched and he couldn't bring himself to have an appetite.

He had met the king and made the worst impression in the erode. Would the king still want him? Even after everything he said?

If he was honest, he hadn't expected the king to look that way. Although the king was extremely gorgeous, he could be passed as every other immortal.

There was something alluring about his presence though. Something that Jimin couldn't put into words. His mind had been circling with the same scenes he had encountered.

He was angry with himself for not noticing the signs that were right in front of his face. The painting he had seen showed a small pale child with a gummy smile. That was literally him!

It was unbelievable that after speaking to him for what seemed like forever he didn't figure it out. Not to mention something about his voice sounded oddly familiar.

A loud knock made him instantly get up from the chair. His heart raced and he was sure that he was being kicked out of the castle for his foolishness.

But when the door opened and he saw Jungkook then and there, he smiled with relief. Without a second thought he rushed to him, nearly tackling him.

"You're here!"

"Yeah...I guess I am." He said still in shock.

Taehyung was standing behind them and he excused himself, unable to look at the mushy mess. Once Jimin pulled away, he grabbed his arm and led him to the balcony table. Jungkook sat down a little confused looking at the large breakfast in front of him.

"Do you want some? I am really not hungry."

"This is all for you?" He questioned.

"Yeah. I think they assume we eat as much as they do."

Jungkook wanted to try all the food that was there, but he couldn't eat with the burning curiosity within him. If he held it in any longer he'd explode.

"Please tell me you're not marrying him."

Jimin brought his finger to his mouth signaling him to quiet down, "I know it's a lot to unpack but I am marrying him."

"What? Why? You don't even know him!" He whispered screamed.

"Actually, I met him yesterday afternoon."

Jungkook rubbed his temples, "I don't get it. Why is he trying to marry you? Why are we whispering? And who is that long haired freak?"

"We are whispering because they can literally hear everything. He wants to marry me to fulfill some promise to his dead father. It sounds very bizarre if you ask me and why did he pick me out of everyone? I'm not sure. Oh! The long haired freak is Taehyung, his employee slash stalker."

"That is bizarre! That should be a red fucking flag. On top of that he has a stalker that works for him? Dammit Jimin, that's a red flag!"

"Woah. I am going to need you to calm down Kook. I'm a male and I'm human, that's why I was chosen. Not that I mind, this is what we wanted, remember? Hoseok was our closest thing to the kingdom that we had and now we have the king himself! If I can convince him to make us immortal we would be set for life."

Jungkook tried to be as optimistic as his friend but he couldn't. How could he tell him that he was scared to even try? That the day Vernon fed on him he didn't sleep at all because the nightmares were overwhelming.

"I doubt he will want to turn you immortal if the reason he chose you was because you're hunan. If he wanted an immortal by his side he would've had one."

"I know, but that does not mean I can't convince him to turn me." He smirked mischievously.

"Jimin, I don't think this is a good idea." He said suddenly feeling unwell. He had left in such a hurry that he hadn't even grabbed his suit jacket to look presentable. Not that it mattered because Jimin was also dressed pretty casual.

Long sleeve shirt rolled up with black jeans. His hair was the usual frizzy mess, but it suited him. This was the reason why the king had specifically picked him out of everyone.

Jimin looked like royalty.

He belonged with all these important men, he looked and carried himself like a true king. Yet, Jungkook couldn't help but panic at the thought of his only true friend marrying a stranger who was very powerful.

"I agreed to marry him under one condition and he has given that to me." He said after a moment of silence.

"What's that?" Jungkook whispered back.

"I wanted you to come live here too. I told him that you could cut their hair, or help with the yard not that you have to but I know the way you are. You're a hard worker that can never sit still so I knew you wouldn't want to live here for free. I want you to stay with me Jungkook. I want you to stay here. I would never leave you behind."

So why does it feel that way? He thought to himself. Quickly, he shook those negative thoughts from his mind and reached over to hold his hand.

"I will stay, but I seriously don't have a good feeling about this."

"I told you it's okay. This marriage is to fulfill his promise and we can take advantage of that."

Jungkook shook his head as he gripped his friend's hand tighter. The reason why he was chosen was right in front of his eyes. How could he not see it?

"Jimin, he doesn't want to marry you simply to fulfill his promise to his father. He wants to marry you because of your blood."
