Week 12
Sorry for the delay folks! I got a new "sort of" work assignment and there were a lot of IRL things that kept me busy, but I'm back with some more prompts for you!
FYI - I'm still thinking through some theme-oriented prompts. I found a few good ones for Fantasy writers. I think I'll do one for Romance, and I'm still thinking through Teen Fic and FanFiction possibilities.
For now, let's see what we have to work with today.
If you're stuck in a scene, why don't you have a character:
1. Ask someone why they did something to try and understand their deeper motive
2. Apologize to another character for screwing up...badly
3. Make a confession
4. Call or reach out to someone to warn them of a danger
5. Discover that someone is not who they say they are
6. Make a promise they know they cannot keep
7. Offer to help someone find something (this can be a place, a person, or an item)
8. Grab something out of someone's hands
9. Make a snide comment
10. Disrupt someone's routine or ritual
Now remember, it doesn't have to be your main character who does the action. It could be a supporting character doing the thing which then makes your character react.
Like, the "Make a promise they know they cannot keep." I kinda like that scenario for a supporting character so that it gives your main character a lot to analyze, ponder and fret over.
Also, the last three are more physically-oriented. I like the 'Grab something out of someone's hands" because that could be a note, a gun, a phone, or a set of keys. Each one could lead to vastly different scenes.
In any event, whatever works for you and your story, give it a go!
P.S. - For some reason I only get about 1 out of 4 comment notifications from this book. So, if you get a delayed response from me, it's nothing personal. ;-)
'Till next time!
