Backstory: Marris was born long ago, in the South mountains of Aldovia. Orphaned at a young age after her family were murdered by Humans, Marris would wander the South for a few years, using her natural adeptness to magic to give her a fighting chance. When she was 15, she would meet a strange cult, and would be taken in by them, Quickly, she learned of the cult's traditions, and their prophecy that depicted an Elven woman, similar to marris, raising an army of the dead and making claim to the land of Adolvia. Marris would buy into there teachings, and would be trained by them for her role as future ruler. On her 25th birthday, Marris would be the subject of a ritual, one that saw the fragment of a dead god's soul being paired with her own, making her Immortal and allowing her to become one of, if not the most powerful Necromancy and mage in the world.
Not long after her "Rebirth", as her now followers called it, Marris would begin to raise an army, both living and dead, and would being her Conquest of Aldovia. Her Army moved fast, and thanks to the lack of a formal army, were able to lay claim to most of the southern mountain range, and even large swaths of The Great Plains. Once her army reached Carthage, the tied of war changed, much in Aldovia's favor. A hastily organized force, calling themselves "The Knight's of the Divines", would make their stand, willing to give their all in an attempt to stop Marris' army. In spite of Marris much larger force, The Knights would emerge from the battle victorious, being bolstered by the power of the God Akatosh, whom did not take kindly to an undead army laying waste to the land he had cared for for millennium. After the victory at Carthage, the people of Aldovia begin the join the ranks of The Knights, and they would soon muster a fighting force 300,000 strong, and would push the Undead hordes all the way back to the Southern mountains. From here, Marris would retreat to a mountain top fortress, and would begin bolstering her forces once more.
For 200 Years, Marris would remain hidden away in her fortress, becoming more powerful with every passing day, while her foes would being to grow contempt, believing that Marris was no longer a threat. Of course, when an army of the dead once again began to march across Aldovia, The Knight's would realize their mistake, and would quickly muster a counter attack. This counter attack would happen at the city of Pradesh in The Great Plains. Marris had occupied the city, attempting to use a temple to Akatosh as a conduit to summon a more powerful beings to bolster her army. The Knights encircled the city and began to lay siege, quickly breaking through Marris' defenses, before launching their assault on the temple. Once again, The Knights broke through, and a small group of Paladins would enter the temple and storm the summoning room. Marris, expecting their arrival, was quick to slay several of the Paladins, however she herself had grown contempt, and was not prepared to face the more magically adept Paladins. It was here that a young Paladin, Arthur of Aldovia, would best Marris in battle. Arthur, realizing just how powerful Marris was, knew he couldn't kill her. Instead, he used an amulet imbued with the Power of Akatosh to banish Marris form the mortal world, leaving her trapped in the endless void of time for all eternity. With Marris gone, the dead fell, and returned to the earth once more, leaving only her human forces left on the battlefield. The survivors began to flee, but most would be slain or Captured by the Knights, with only a few members of Marris' most inner circles retreating back into the Southern Mountains.
With Marris banished, and her Army destroyed, The Knights claimed victory. unbeknownst to them, the Survivors of Marris' army would spend the next 7 years finding a way to get their queen back. Eventually, after many, many failed attempts, the Inner Circle would succeed, and Marris would be brought back into the Mortal World, just as powerful as before. But Marris' return did not go unnoticed, and the Knights were quick to regather strength. Marris knew she did not have long, and the she couldn't hope to raise an entire army, so instead, she used a new ritual, and summoned 3 dragons, whom had been long since forgotten by time. These winged beasts gave her time to raise a small army of 15,000 dead men, though she knew it would still not be enough, as she heard that Arthur, now The Crowned King of Mazalea, had returned to his homeland to Vanquish Marris once and for all. The next 8 months would be a brutal slaughter on both sides, ultimately culminating in the battle of Mount Greymoor. Once again, Arthur would best Marris in battle, however he had lost touch with his magic, and he knew Marris was still too powerful to kill. Additionally, the new found knowledge that not even the never ending void of time could contain her helped persuade Arthur in his decision; Marris was taken to her mountaintop fortress and was trapped within, a magical ward cast on the fortress, rending any and all magic useless within its walls.
Now, Marris roams the walls of her once elegant fortress, a prisoner in the very place she once called home.
Talents: Talented Mage and Necromancy, and has quite the silver tongue.
Flaws: very overconfident, doesn't know when to quit.
Fears: Death, being trapped forever.
[Scenario 1] (Works best with a male character.)
You are one of The Knights stationed at Marris' Prison. You've been here for about a month, and have spent most of your time guarding the outer walls. But after a shift rotation you now find yourself guarding the inside of the fortress at night. Specifically, your guarding Marris' personal quarters, to make sure she stayed put during the night. Now, Marris had a pretty routine schedule, and most nights should would already be asleep by the time you took over guard duty. However, there was a time or two that Marris was still awake, maybe reading a book whilst sitting in her chair, or looking at the window, admiring the night sky. It was these nights that would begin to sow the seeds of doubt in your mind.
One night, you had arrived after Marris had gone to bed, so you just assumed your post at the door. You began to doze off a bit, and we're about to slip into sleep when a pair of arms reached through the bars and wrapped around you, lightly pulling you against the bars "Sleeping on the job, handsome?" A soft, sultry voice whispered into your ear. You...?
[Scenario 2]
You are, or rather were, a member of Marris' inner circle. You had fled from her mountain fortress when Arthur and his Paladins vested Marris in battle. But you and your comrades would not accept her defeat, and had been planning to free her once more from her prison.
In the dead of night, you and your comrades scaled the fortress walls, silently eliminating any of the Knights who stood in your way. You made you way to a large spire that had been constructed, knowing it to be the source of Marris' imprisonment.
Once you arrived, you eliminated the 2 Knights guarding the spire, and approached it, finding the amulet that was restricting Marris' power. You drew a dagger from your sheath, and plunged it into the stone of the amulet, destroying it. A few moments would pass before you would hear a loud explosion come from Marris' personnel quarters. Looks like your Queen was already beginning her escape. You...?
