The Cold Never Bothered Me Anyway Pt 4
Hi kittens! Sorry its short and strange. Apologies ;) Working on updates for a few other things now so hopefully they will turn out better than this.
________
It was definitely arctic when he woke. Even with their entire bodies (heads and all) underneath the covers, he was uncomfortably cold. He really didn’t want to wake the adorable man who had snuggled his head beneath his chin, but he knew he didn’t have much choice.
“Mitchie? Babe… we need to use the hair dryer again.”
Mitch shifted slightly, tightening his arm around Scott and burying his face in his chest before he settled once again.
He took a few moments to just to enjoy the feel of the thin body against his, and he lightly rubbed his back for just a bit, but eventually the cold overpowered his want to pretend this was more to Mitch than just survival mode.
“C’mon, wake up or I swear I will tickle you.”
Still nothing. He snuck his hand out of the blankets and let it sit for a bit before sliding it underneath his friend's sweater and touching his waist.
The sharp inhale let him know it had worked.
“Scottttttttttttttttt.” He whined and buried his face in the broad chest. “Why is it still so fu¢king cold.”
Scott wrapped him in both arms and squeezed, letting all of the smells that were so uniquely Mitch wash over him. “Because you need to turn on the hair dryer again.”
“But it’s so far awayyyyy” He peeked his head out of the covers and looked. “Ugh, fine.” He rolled and grabbed it and hit the on switch but nothing happened. “Seriously?”
Scott looked out and noticed the alarm clock was now blank.
“Son of a bitch the electricity is out.”
“Oh my God. Now what are we going to do!? We’re going to freeze to death!”
“We should call the others. More body heat in one room is better.”
They each grabbed their phones and set about trying to get up with the others. Finally Mitch got ahold of Kirstie. He immediately put her on speaker.
“It actually hasn’t gotten that bad yet over here. Didn’t you say your room was bigger? That’s probably why. Anyway, we tried leaving our room earlier and the door won’t unlock. Something to do with the electricity being out. No one at the front desk is answering.”
“We’re going to die. We’re going to be trapped here and freeze to death right here in some stupid hotel room!” Scott became overdramatic in like 2 seconds flat.
“Everyone calm.down. We’ll figure it out.” Mitch tried to reassure the blonde who was clinging to his waist, chin snuggly on his shoulder.
“We were using our iphones to have a dance party to try and help. Plus Christine had like 4 bottles of wine stashed in her suitcase so we’re breaking that open now. I wish we could open the door we could have a slumber party.”
“Scott! Wine! You bought some!”
“Yeah, to give to someone as a gift!”
“Desperate times,boo.”
He gave a dramatic sigh and steeled himself as he pranced out of bed again and made his way to the other room to find his other bag. He eventually located it in the closet with their coats which he pulled out in case they decided to throw them on too.
“Alright, Kit. I don’t want to use up all of my battery. I’ll call you later and make sure you’re still alive.”
“Love you guys! Stay warm. Oh, and Mitchie? Skin against skin is the warmest. Conduction and all that jaaaaazzz… Just sayin’. Byeeeee”
He made a face at the phone as it disconnected.
“I don’t have anything to uncork it with!” Scott reappeared with the bottle and coats and after tossing the coats onto mitch's suitcase he dove under the covers burrowing into Mitch and curling around him.
He couldn't help but chuckle. “We could always stick it outside and let it do the uncorking for us.”
“A. that would take way too long and B. I am NOT letting anymore cold air in here.”
“I think it’s a bit late for that. It’s ok I have a solution.” He grabbed the bottle and pouted a bit before he hopped out of bed to find his handbag and rummaged until he found what he needed and then headed into the bathroom. “Alllllright. Let’s just hope I don’t make a mess since I don’t have anything to pierce the cork with.” He took the bottle and sat it on the counter, grabbing a hand towel and using the pen to try and push the cork in, it moved but not quite enough.
“Muscles! A little help please.”
“But it’s cold!!!”
“And i’m dying here even with 3 pairs of your socks on! Comeee onnn."
Scott finally appeared with a grumble and a continuation of his little jig from earlier. “What do I do?”
“Push and try not to drop the pen in or get wine everywhere or break the bottle.”
He made a face at Mitch while taking charge. It basically took a microsecond to push the cork into the wine bottle with minimal damage.
Mitch rolled his eyes as he stuck his hands into the neck of his sweater and stuck them into his arm pits to warm. "Show off."
Scott gave him a wink and went to take a drink, but the bottle was quickly grabbed from his hands and Mitch had turned it up.
“Shaaareeee”
___
"...clap, clap, clap like you don't care..."
Half an hour later and still no electricity or heat but the bottle was nearly empty and they were having a grand ol’ time taking Kirstie’s advice and dancing/singing along to some music.
Mitch had had WAY more to drink than necessary and he’d passed his threshold quite some time ago. Inhibitions were a distant memory and he was feeling gooood.
“Noooo my phone is dying!” Scott pouted.
“I’m stilll cooollld..” He pouted right back.
“Come snuggglle again.” Scott hopped onto the bed and into the covers.
Mitch joined him sliding into his arms easily. “We should look up ways to stay warm.”
“I can think of a couple.” To be fair Scott hadn't meant to say that out loud, but oh well. It's not like he SAID what couple of things he'd thought of. At least... that was his logic.
Mitch wasn’t sure if the blush creeping up the blonde's neck was from the wine or from thoughts that were less than innocent. Frankly he didn’t really care. “Are you trying to use the cold as an excuse to get me naked?”
“No….” The blush deepened, coloring all the way up to his forehead.
He considered it for a moment, but the memories of Scott's sleeping christmas list and the buzz in his blood won out and he pulled from Scott’s arms and pulled layer after layer from his body, shivering a bit as he exposed his skin to the chill. It took a second but he managed to wiggle himself out of his pj pants and dropped them to the side of the bed.
Scott just stared, unmoving for a moment.
“Well, skin to skin doesn’t work if half of the equation is still hidden under loads of joyrich.” He looked at him expectantly. “C’mon i’m freezing to death here!”
Scott hesitated, not sure if he would be able to check his hormones if they did this. He'd been close to Mitch on many occasions, but never SNUGGLED in their UNDERWEAR. This would be a test of restraint like none other and with the alcohol swimming in his system he wasnt sure he had the willpower. He swallowed hard but began to pull the articles of clothing from his body. He didn’t know if this was the best or worst idea either of them had ever had, but when Mitch wiggled up against him to get closer, he decided it was probably both, and he was 100% ok with that.
Then Mitch decided that wasn't good enough. "Wait, this will be better." He sat up, taking hold of the covers and pulling them over both of them again as he climbed right on top of the blonde, laying out over him completely. He tugged and pulled at the layers of blankets until they were cocooned in them.
Every wiggle or shift made him want to say screw it and just grab the back of his neck and find a different activity to help keep them warm, but by the time he'd almost hit the breaking point Mitch finally stilled and settled with his head on his chest. It took a few moments for him to get his breathing under control, but he couldn't help but think how comfortable it was and surprisingly warm. He wrapped his arms around the smaller man and let out a content sigh as they both finally got comfy.
They both closed their eyes, but sleep was definitely not what was on either of their minds.
