The Cold Never Bothered Me Anyway
I dunno... You said to post everything... so here ya go?
_____
"Thank Sophie! I thought I was going to turn into an ice queen." Mitch exclaimed dramatically as he plopped down on one of the beds, so grateful for heat he could dance. "Literally."
"I won't even say it. I'm too cold. I'm almost glad Alex couldn't make it now."
"Yeah save him from hypothermia, leave me to become an ice sculpture."
"I thought the cold never bothered you anyway."
They both made stupid faces at each other.
"I think I'm just going to take off all of my clothes and lay here and let the heat soak in."
Scott shook his head. "You do that and I will go take the hottest shower in history."
Mitch whined, sitting up to finally take off his coat that was damp with melted snow. He got up to put it in the closet but was interrupted by a knock on the door. They both stood there for a second staring at it then at each other and then back at the door waiting to see who was gonna cave first and answer it.
"Open up! Its me and Kev."
Scott moved forward and swung it open. "Missed us already?"
Avi looked less than amused as he and Kevin entered the room, bags trailing behind them.. "We need to switch rooms."
Mitch raised an eyebrow. "excusez-moi?"
"There was a mistake and all the other rooms BESIDES yours have 1 king bed instead of 2 singles."
"So?" Scott raised an eyebrow.
"So Avi kicks like a kangaroo. I don't think I would survive the night."
"Un uh. Scott is like one of those sponge creatures you stick in water and they triple in size. There's no way." Mitch pouted and crossed his arms.
"C'mon. It's not like we haven't done it before. Besides, I'll be on my best behavior." Scott smiled sweetly at him. "Plus I've seen Avi when he sleeps, I'd fear for Kevin's life if we don't." He shrugged.
Superfrown.
"And just think of the hassle replacing him."
Eye roll.
Mitch threw his head back to look at the ceiling. "UGH, fine, but if I get pushed off the bed then you and Jet Li can spend tomorrow battling it out for space while me and Kev get cozy." He grabbed his bag and his keycard and passed it to Avi who exchanged it with his own. "Thanks dad" and then he was off down the hall.
"Good luck." Kevin put a hand on an amused Scott's shoulder. "He's extra feisty tonight."
"Oh, please. This is nothing. Get him a warm bed and some room service and he'll be a pussycat." He grabbed his suitcase and wheeled it towards the door. "Speaking of good luck... have fun with Kanga." He searched his pockets and then swapped keycards with Kevin and headed off after Mitch.
He opened the door to Kevin and Avi's room, pleasantly surprised to find it was much bigger than their previous room. This one was more of a mini suite. He wasn't surprised in the least to hear the shower running and Mitch's voice singing through the wall. He got himself settled, pulling off his coat and hanging it next to Mitch's in the wardrobe. He got out some clean, warm pj pants and laid them out, getting ready for when Mitch was done. He ordered them each a cup of hot cocoa with marshmallows and also a light dinner. It was weird, but they'd eaten with each other enough to know exactly what the other would order no matter the situation or circumstance.
Thankfully a shirtless Mitch appeared before too long and he took his turn in the warm heaven of the shower, bones finally beginning to thaw.
____
"Is it just me or is it getting colder in here?" Mitch snuggled further down into the plush comforter.
"You're probably just losing the heat we got from the shower. Want me to ask for a couple more blankets?" Scott turned to him. He was currently super duper comfy. Mitch was like his own personal heater; he gave off warmth almost as effectively. That was probably the reason the boy was always so cold, at least that's what he guessed anyway.
"I'll love you forever."
He rolled his eyes. "You'll love me forever anyway." He sent him a sideways smirk and leaned over to phone the front desk. It wasn't too long before there was a knock on the door, a nice man delivering a stack of three blankets. He was also kind enough to take the remains of the dinner they'd scarfed down like they hadn't eaten all day. He thanked the guy and looked for the thermostat to make sure the heater was still on and according to the digital numbers the room was as it should be. They were probably just still adjusting, and lord only knows how far below freezing the temperature was outside. He laid out one more blanket and folded the other two at the end of the bed in case either of them needed them later.
"Thanks babe."
He nodded and climbed back into the bed, turning back to the movie they were watching on tv.
____
Mitch was pulled from his happy slumber some time in the middle of the night by the loudest crash of thunder he'd pretty much ever heard followed by what sounded like machine gun fire on the windows. He went to sit up but soon realized he was completely surrounded by limbs. Scott had a leg tossed over his and his arm held him tight against his body.
What the hell?
He wondered how Scott could sleep through the insane noise happening, but really when you sleep around enough frat boys and party animals you learn how to block shit out.
He tried to dislodge the arm holding him, trying to get his own arms out of the hold, but he was definitely in the wrong position for that. It was certainly not easy and he was less than successful.
Seriously?! What happened to super starfish Scott? I'm not Alex! Well, now I know who the big spoon is.
He closed his eyes when the thunder struck again and he swore he could feel the building sway. He heard one of their phones vibrate but determined it was Scott's as his remained dark. He usually really enjoyed thunderstorms. There was something calming about the rain and the rumble of the sky, the color palette that masked everything in gloomy blues and grays. But this storm... this wasn't some easy summer shower, this was angry and potentially dangerous. If he didn't know any better that loud hammering was hail and this storm was less than friendly.
Lightning lit up the room even through the curtains and he let out a tiny gasp of surprise. Somehow that tiny noise is what roused the sleeping beast holding him hostage.
"What happened? What's wrong?" He mumbled out, eyes barely squinted open. "What's that noise?"
"I think it's hail. If you would disengage I could go check."
Scott inhaled deeply, limbs tightening all around him, squeezing him closer as he woke. He sighed a bit and released him, leg sliding back to his own side of the bed. He let out a grunt of displeasure as Mitch got out of bed. "Now I'm cold" He pouted.
Mitch rolled his eyes and rubbed his bare arms as he headed towards the other room of their suite. He approached the door to the outside, noting how much colder it got the closer he was and slowly parted the curtains. He nearly jumped out of his skin as the thunder decided that was the exact moment it wanted to let out a crash. He took a deep breath, marveling at the size of hail accumulating on top of the existing blanket of snow on their tiny balcony. It was hard to see, he hadn't bothered to turn on the lights, but the bright jagged lines in the sky helped with that if only for a second or two.
"Mitchieeeee." It was a quiet whine from the other room and he knew Scott was still half asleep. "Come back. I'm colldddd. Miisss yoouuu"
He made a face, annoyed that the other man could ignore the danger on the other side of the wall with no problem and just sleep it off. He knew he was going to climb back in bed and not be able to sleep until the storm passed. It's just the way it was. He made his way slowly back to the other room, grabbing his ipad and sticking it on his nightstand just in case boredom overtook him.
"Hurry up. It's freezing." Scott mumbled.
"Did you check your phone? I heard it go off?"
"You get it."
He climbed up onto the bed before basically climb/leaning over Scott to get to his phone. He grabbed it and suddenly two arms pulled him back down in a mass of appendages. Scott was like an octopus curling around him.
"Warm." Scott smiled and his eyes closed, leaving Mitch kind of stuck. He let out an exhasperated grunt, but at least this time he managed to get his arms out from under the other's and when he nudged the larger man gently with his elbow he was able to grab his own phone and maneuver into a more comfortable position while still remaining trapped.
He sighed as he felt Scott pull him in a bit more, inhaling deeply against the skin of his shoulder, and then relaxed, sleep finding him once again as he got comfy.
The storm was still raging on outside. He rolled his eyes and opened Scott's phone entering his lock code and checking his texts.
Kirstie: are u guys awake? Hate this storm!
He decided to answer from his own phone and put Scott's next to him.
Mitch: the diva prince is somehow sleeping through Zeus' target practice
Kirstie: freak of nature
Kirstie: me and chris are freaking
Mitch: don't worry it'll blow over try to sleep
Mitch: if you need us rm 2213
Kirstie: ty sweet dreams thin man
Mitch: you too kitsune
He smiled to himself and put the phone away, hoping to somehow fall asleep through the booming light show. He shifted a bit, having no choice but to snuggle back into the warm body surrounding him and close his eyes. If Alex saw this he'd blow a gasket, but what do you do?
It didn't take long for him to drift off, feeling completely safe in the arms (and leg) of his best friend. He slowly drifted off to sleep. It was only minutes later that the temperature began to drop.
