As the November chill rolled through the castle the group of slytherin first years were all getting quite excited as it was Cassiopeia's birthday on the eleventh and the slytherin vs gryffindor quidditch match on the tenth so there was a buzz going around the common room.

The afternoon of the quidditch match cassie and Pansy invited the rest of the slytherin girls into their dorm so they could get ready together. Cassie had a record player booming music and Pansy was painting the house colours on each of there cheeks to show support but no one was more excited than Cassie. She had been waiting all day and not paying attention in lessons because she was so excited.

"So I take it you like quidditch then" Tracey Davis said as she sat next to Cassie on the trunk at the end of the bed.

"I love it, I can't wait to try out for the team next year" she smiled at the girl.

"Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks it's fun, all's that lot care about is if there hair is going to get blown out of place" she nodded towards her two dorm mates.

"Pansy's the same, at least I have the boys to talk to about it though. If you ever want to join us it would be nice to have another girl with me, she just refuses" she smiled and pointed to Pansy.

"I actually might take you up on that offer" she gave her a massive grin.

"Okay girls let's go and get good seats" millicent half shouted as they headed for the door.

"Wait it's freezing let me do something to your robes" cassie stopped everyone.

Individually she cast a warming charm to each girls robes and then her own, then they set off nice and toasty ready to cheer on their house.

After waiting in the stands for about ten minutes the boys joined them and every single one of them was shivering to the bone, the girls just laughed all feeling the heat of their charmed robes.

"That is not fair, why do you all look like your still by the fire" Blaise said as he sat next to Pansy.

"I think my lips are turning blue, and I can't feel my fingertips. Cassie what have you done" Theo narrowed his eyes at the girl next to him.

"I cast a heating charm inside our robes" cassie smiled and lifted Theo's hand to feel her robes.

"Please, please, please do that to ours. I will get on my knees and beg if I have too" Theo started to kneel but was pulled up by Cassie.

"And you all think I'm the dramatic one" she rolled her eyes and cast the charm on all five of the boys.

The match started and it was brilliant a great way to kick off the quidditch season. The slytherins looked like they were in for a good chance at winning even though flint did try to knock Harry off his broom and then Harry's broom was trying to throw him off it too. When it had all settled again and the match carried on the slytherins we're sure to win Or at least they thought it was until good for nothing Potter caught the snitch, in his mouth. Cassie thought to herself that even though he was a prat he was a fairly good seeker.

The rest of the slytherins sulked back to the common room all freezing cold and miserable, unlike the first year slytherins who were still all burning off the adrenaline from all the excitement.

When they returned they spent a few hours in the common room all together and when everyone was starting to wind down Cassie decided that the only thing she wanted for her birthday was a sleepover so her, Pansy, Draco, Blaise and Theo all piled in to the girls dorm and Cassie made up some beds on the floor and sent Theo and Draco down to the kitchens for some food.

"I think we should make this a tradition" Blaise laid in the middle of the girls magically enlarged bed.

"Make what a tradition, the sleepover?" Cassie said as she lay down next to him.

"Cassie's birthday sleepover, I like it" Pansy got next to Blaise on the other side.

"I can not believe your twelve in the morning" Blaise nocked his head onto Cassie's

"I just wish we were allowed to do something more exciting" cassie grunted.

"Well in third year we're allowed to go to hogsmeade so at least we will be out of the castle if your birthday is a weekend" Pansy turned on her side and Cassie did the same so they were both facing Blaise.

"Why did we send dumb and dumber to get the food, we're going to starve to death" Blaise sighed. "Did you tell them how to get into the kitchens properly?" He asked Cassie.

"Seriously Blaise how could I say 'tickle the pear' wrong I mean it's quite an odd thing" cassie raised and eyebrow.

The two girls rested there heads on each of Blaise's shoulders and waited patiently. Soon enough Theo and Draco walked through the door each holding a basket of food.

"Really I leave for ten minutes and you three end up in bed?" Theo put his hands on his hips and shook his head.

"Theo don't be disgusting" Pansy threw a cushion directly at his head.

"Your so immature" cassie took the baskets and placed them in the middle of where she had set up the makeshift beds.

"Will you all behave, come and sit down" Draco said as he joined cassie on the floor.

"Are we doing presents tonight or tomorrow" Pansy smiled as she crossed her legs and sat down.

"We should do them at midnight" Draco grinned.

"You didn't have to get me anything" cassie frowned.

"Oh shut up Cass stop being so noble" Theo nudged as he sat down next to her.

"Well that's the title that comes with my family name" cassie laughed.

"Oh yes the noble and most ancient house of black, Our very own little princess" Blaise ruffled her hair.

"I hate all of you" cassie smacked Blaise's hand playfully.

The spread of food was basically all sugar, cakes, scones, muffins, tarts and donuts. Cassie couldn't have been happier with it but Blaise complained that they were all going to crash within an hour or two of demolishing it.

When the clock on the bedside table chimed Pansy practically screamed and tackled cassie into a hug, the group sang happy birthday and Draco held onto cassies hand tightly.

"Mine first" Pansy handed cassie two small neatly wrapped boxes.

Cassie unwrapped them and opened the first one it was a pair of earrings with silver snakes dangling from them and her face lit up, "they are beautiful Pansy thank you"

"Open the next one" Pansy tapped the second box.

When she opened it she knew immediately what it was. It was a charm to go on the bracelet that Draco had gotten her at Christmas.

"It's a Pansy isn't it" she smiled at her bestfriend.

"Yep, I wanted to be represented on that bracelet of yours I think that dragon needs company" she attached the charm to the bracelet.

"I love it, and you" she reached over and kissed her cheek.

"Now mine" Blaise handed her a bag

Cassie removed tissue paper and burst out laughing, there was a mug and a t-shirt that was embroidered with 'cat mum' on it. She then took out the mug and it had a moving picture of her, Blaise, Holstein and Pixie.

"This is so cute, how did you make this" she held up the mug and showed them.

"My mum knows someone in Paris that has his own spell to put moving pictures onto porcelain, so I had it made for you" he smiled.

"Thank you, and the t-shirt... I am never going to take that off" she grinned.

"I have one that says cat dad" he laughed.

"Okay Draco your turn" Pansy nodded.

"I had mum send me these because you keep stealing all of my jumpers and I'd like to end the year with at least one of my own" he handed her a very large bag.

There were three jumpers, one was black and knitted, the second was a thinner material and it was a pale green with buttons and the last was an oversized blue and dark green striped one that looked like it was going to be down to her knees which she personally loved.

"You know I'm still going to steal yours, but These are great editions to my collection" she scrunched her nose as she laughed.

'Why did I wait to go last now I look bad' she could hear Theo's mind next to her. So she moved slightly closer to him and put her head on his shoulder.

"Mr Nott it's your turn" cassie said as she looked at him through her lashes.

"I didn't buy you anything fancy, I made you something so lower your expectations" he raised his eyebrows.

"Just show me" she smiled.

He gave her a an a4 shaped present that she unwrapped carefully and she looked over at him and her smile grew in size. It was a painting of the black lake with the night sky and her constellation. She studied it and noticed on the bank of the lake there were two handprints that were hardly noticeable but she knew what they meant.

She turned and wrapped her arms around him and whispered "thank you Theo" into his ear.

She stood and flicked her wand at the wall and a hook appeared and she hung it right be her bed. Her heart didn't feel so empty in that moment and she wanted to hang onto it for as long as she could so she got out a wizards chess board and they played for an hour until Blaise's prediction from earlier came true and they all crashed from the sugar high. The group all fell asleep on the floor and as usual cassie and Pansy ended up all tangled together.

When Cassiopeia finally managed to open her eyes the morning of her birthday she felt like she was being suffocated. She shot up and almost panicked before she remembered the night before. Pansy was fast asleep stuck to cassies side all tangled up and Cassie carefully untangled herself and as she leaned back she realised what was suffocating her. Theodore was sleeping in a starfish position and his arm had been over cassies face.

She moved to get up but accidentally fell over Theo and woke him up.

"Morning birthday girl" he smiled his voice sounding all groggy.

"Go back to sleep" she stood and put on Blaise's jumper that was discarded in the middle of the floor.

"I can't, once I'm awake I'm awake" he stretched out his arms and yawned.

"I'm going to kill him" cassie glared around her room.

"Who are we killing, shouldn't your birthday be a death free day" Theo sat up and looked at the girl.

Cassie let out a choked laugh "tell that to my mother" her eyes widened as Theo's face dropped. "Sorry that sounded funnier in my head." She folded her arms. "We're killing my nephew"

"Why what's he done this time" Theo looked around seeing that the room had been straightened up and last nights mess was completely gone. "It could have been the house elves" he followed cassie and stood up.

"He's not here, that means he's woken up early had the audacity to clean my room" she gestured around, "and he's ran away so I don't kill him"

Theo shook his head and took a hold of cassies hands, he could feel the heat coming off them like a radiator but it wasn't unpleasant, "Cass it's your birthday and the only thing your going to kill today is a cake"

Cassie pouted, "can I not even just hurt him a little bit"

"Nope"

"Fine" cassie rolled her eyes and walked over to her side of the bed and a ginormous smile came across her face.

"What are you smiling about" Theo raised a brow.

Without saying anything cassie walked up to the boy and wrapped her arms around him. Theo was taken back at first but then leant in to the hug. She spoke quietly as to not wake the other two sleeping people on the floor, "your present was my favourite"

He could feel her smile where her face was pressed into his chest and he let out a little laugh, "I take it that's another secret"

Cassie pulled back and nodded. "Come on I need a birthday breakfast sandwich before I think about eating them leftover muffins" she pulled the boy out of the room leaving Pansy and Blaise still asleep on the floor.

When Pansy and Blaise joined the group they looked even more exhausted than Draco who had apparently been up since five in the morning, he claimed that he couldn't sleep properly because of the mess. They all served cassie her food like she was some sort of royalty but she wasn't complaining because blaise made the most perfect sandwich ever.

All day people were wishing a the girl a happy birthday and for once in her life she was actually enjoying all the fuss, she was surprised when they all came back to the dorms and there was a a card and box of chocolates on her bedside table from Dumbledore.

She opened up the card and read over it looking rather confused.

"What does it say" Draco asked as he sat himself on the bed.

"Dumbledore needs me to go to his office Monday evening after classes are finished" she handed him the card.

"If we don't all get birthday cards of him I'm going to put in a formal complaint" Blaise said as he shook his head.

"Come on let's go back down to the common room, I told Tracey I'd play some wizards chess with her" cassie ushered the two boys out and they all walked back through the corridors

"You best not be trying to replace us" Blaise swung his arm around the smaller girls shoulder, "oh and I want my jumper back"

"I'd never do that, and I'm never giving it back" she poked out her tongue at him making both Blaise and Draco shake there heads.
