Chapter twenty four

Cassiopeia had to agree that her weekends at hogwarts were mundane at the best of times, being a first year meant there was a limited availability of things to do. Most of the time she just spent time with her friends which she loved so having to wake up at 9am on a Saturday to go and spend time with two men wasn't ideal.

Pansy had basically pushed her out of the bed when the alarm on her bedside table had started to go off, so quietly and quickly Cassie threw on one of the jumpers draco had gotten her for her birthday and she made her way through the common room stopping to say good morning to Draco, Tracey and Millicent who were all infront of the fire.

By the time she had gotten up the stairs to Dumbledores office she was more or less awake to the fullest extent and she knocked three times and yawned as she waited for Dumbledore to open the door.

"Miss Black come in" Dumbledore smiled warmly.

"Morning professor" she smiled back at him and walked through the office.

"Ah Cassiopeia it's lovely to see you again" Anderson spoke as him and McKellen came into her view.

"You too" she gave both men a smile.

"How're you doing in school, Dumbledore here says you've got a good head on your shoulders" McKellen patted her on the back.

"Miss Black is a bright young which, I shouldn't really say this but she's one of the top students in her year" Dumbledore said quietly as he gave Cassie a wink.

Dumbledore went off to his desk to do whatever he did as head master whilst McKellen and Anderson both did their job of checking over Cassie and her progress. According to them she was doing great in most aspects the only problem they could find was that because her magic didn't have the outlet it needed it was affecting her from the inside out. Her body temperature was four times higher than it should have been, she felt fine but that could have been because she was used to it now.

Just before they were about to leave they told her that she would be picked up on Monday afternoon and taken too a secondary location to begin her training. They also told her that a younger woman would be handling the majority of her physical training and that they'd meet on Monday.

Theo was pacing near the door to the common room and had been since he'd woken up at half past 9 and Draco had told him that Cassie had gone to her 'assessment' as they were now calling it. Pansy was sitting with Daphne both doing homework and Draco and Blaise were playing exploding snap with Tracey so Theo thought it would be best to pace.

"Nott will you sit down she'll be back soon" Draco rolled his eyes as he shouted over to the boy.

"It's been like two hours what could they possibly be doing" tho crossed his eyes and frowned.

"Just leave him he's relentless" Blaise chuckled.

After another ten minutes of pacing Theo was knocked of his feet by the door hitting him. He yelped as he hit the ground.

"Merlins beard Theodore what are you doing behind the door" cassie said as she helped him up.

"I wasn't doing anything" he frowned again.

"He thought if he stood over there it would make you come back faster" Draco laughed, "great logic if you ask me"

"Piss off Snow White" Theo launched a cushion at him as he sat on one of the couches with Cassie.

"Why is doing nothing so Tiring" cassie sighed as she dug through her bag and took out a book.

"How are you feeling" Theo asked as he got himself comfy.

"I'm okay, just exhausted I guess" she let out a long yawn.

Theo reached out and tried to grab the book from Cassie but she flinched slightly and pulled it into her chest, "will you just give me the book" he raised his brows.

"What are you going to do to it?" She questioned.

"Cass just trust me" he shook his head and smiled.

Cassie handed over the book and gave him a strange look.

"Okay now lie down and ill read, what chapter are you up too?" He patted his legs.

Cassie stopped for a second then smiled and kicked her legs down the opposite end of the couch and placed her head on Theo's lap, "chapter 12 please" she looked up at him.

"Break with a banshee? Really Cass" Theo raised an eyebrow.

"If they were in the fiction section people would think they were good I promise, that lockheart really knows how to tell a story even if it's all fake" she nodded.

"His books are non fiction aren't they?"

"He claims they are, I say otherwise... now start or I'll take it back off you" she tapped her knuckle against the book.

Theo started to read and Cassie closed her eyes so she could listen to him properly and not pay attention to the noise around them.

At some point during her the reading both Cassiopeia and Theodore fell fast asleep. Draco ran to get his camera because it was a very photographical moment, of course the flash woke the two of them up. They both looked shell shocked so Draco snapped another photo.

"Do you like your limbs nephew because they're one flash away from being torn off" cassie said as she charged at Draco with her wand in her hand.

"For the love of Salazar I don't have my wand this is not a fair fight!" Draco shouted as he jumped over a table.

Cassie being Cassie tried to follow suit and landed on the edge of the table tipping the whole thing and everything on it over. She lay on the floor with books and two emptied plant pots on top of her, defeated she let her head fall. Then another flash went off and Draco had took another photo of her on the floor.

"I hate all of you" she looked around at her friends, Theo had his head over the back of the couch still sleepy eyed with a smile on his face.

When she got up she waved her wand and the table was fixed, she checked the time and decided that half five is a reasonable time so she grabbed Pansy and they headed to the gryffindor common room.

Neville had told her the password earlier in the week, so the girls walked straight in and immediately found Neville doing his homework. The three of them chatted for a while and were joined by hermione. Pansy didn't not like hermione but she wasn't the warmest when they fist met so hermione was apprehensive when around her.

"I'm just saying it would be easier to do it the way I showed you Neville" hermione said as she looked over his homework.

"He can do it whatever way feels comfortable" Pansy sighed and folded her arms.

Hermione bit down on her lip and her eyes widened like she was trying not to say anything.

"Honest to god you two are a nightmare" cassie ran a hand through her hair.

When Neville finished his homework hermione went to find Harry and ron so Cassie and Pansy convinced Neville to come to the slytherin common room. Blaise practically scaled the couch to give Neville a hug and drag him over to the boys.

Pansy and Blaise both watched an intense game of wizards chess played by Draco and Neville while Cassie watched Theo who was drawing in a sketch book.

"What are you drawing" cassie leant her head on Theo's shoulder.

"Why do you want to know?" He quizzed her playfully.

"Because I have no imagination and all's I see is lines" she told him.

"It's going to be a picture of Holstein and Pixie" he said like it was obvious.

"Okay now I can see it" she laughed.

—————————————————————————

On Monday morning Cassiopeia tried her best to get through her morning classes without shooting through the ceiling, it was probably the knowing fact that she didn't have to spend her last lessons with an excruciating pain in her chest.

Outside Dumbledores office she stood bouncing back and forth on the balls of her feet waiting for the headmaster to open the door. When he came to the door he had that usual twinkle in his eye that made him feel safe to be around.

"In you come miss black, your just in time" he smiled and stepped aside so she could enter.

"So who is it that I'll be seeing today?" She asked him.

"A young woman that you can place your trust in" he chuckled and sat down behind his desk.

Just as Cassie was about to push for further information, the flames in Dumbledores fire place shot up and a beautiful woman stepped out with a smile on her face.

"Lovely to see you professor" she placed her hand over the headmasters. "You must be Cassiopeia" she sat in the chair next to her, "i'm Emmeline Vance"

"Ms Vance will be training you from today on, every Monday afternoon" Dumbledore nodded to each of them.

"I give the estimate of Monday afternoons but between us Cassiopeia, the sessions will probably run through to the evening" she gave the younger girl a charming look.

"You can call me Cassie, Cassiopeia is a bit of a mouthful" Cassie told the woman.

"Well then Cassie, shall we get going" she slapped a hand on her knee and stood walking over to the fireplace.

Cassie followed her and they both said their goodbyes to Dumbledore, Emmeline grabbed a hold of cassies hand and stepped through the fire. When Cassie emerged on the other side of the flames she was in a small living room area, it was cosy covered in plants, books, pillows and blankets. Emmeline smiled from the door way that looked like it lead to a hallway.

"This looks like someone's home?" Cassie raised a brow.

"It is, mine actually" she looked around herself then back to the girl, "come through, would you like some tea"

"Ooo yes please" she followed the woman into the kitchen.

Emmeline made the tea and pointed her wand at an older looking record player that was red and gold, gryffinfor colours. It started to play old music.

"Were you in Gryffindor, when you were at hogwarts" cassie sipped her tea.

"God no" she shook her head, "ravenclaw" she winked.

"Sorry too intrude just your record player" she gestured over to it.

"That actually wasn't mine" she sighed, "I was at school with a relative of yours, Sirius Black"

Cassie's eyes widened, "really"

"We were in the same friend group, that was his record player" she tightened her hands around her mug. "Sirius' ex boyfriend wanted out of the magical world after he was taken to askaban so he gave away all the items that had been charmed, I ended up with that" she smiled solemnly.

Emmeline shared some of her hogwarts stories with Cassie and then they went over quite a bit of planning for their next meeting. Emmeline was going to be in charge of her combat training, all of which was to be done at Emmeline's home because it was under a cloaking spell. After a few hours the two of them headed back through the floo too Dumbledores office, Dumbledore looked as though he hadn't moved the whole time.

"I'll see you next Monday cassie, have a great week" Emmeline said to the girl, "goodbye professor" she gave Dumbledore another bright smile before going back through the flames.

"I assume the lesson went well"

"It did, Emmeline knew my cousin"

"Ah yes, your cousin and his friends were a wild group when they were at hogwarts" he nodded.

"He was kicked out of the family when I was little I don't remember much about him" she shrugged.

"Your a lot like him you know" Dumbledore didn't realise but he was letting off an emotion that Cassie could feel, a sort of guilt. "That's enough of that for now anyway, I'm sure you have lessons to be preparing for"

Dumbledore crossed the room and held open the door letting another of his sweet smiles take over his face as he looked down at cassie, "good night miss black"

"Night professor" she said as she hurried passed him and down the staircase.

When she returned to the slytherin common room she was bombarded with questions by her friends and she told them that she was too exhausted to go into detail, her and Pansy both left to go to bed.

Pansy knew Cassie more than Cassie knew herself so she told Cassie to go and shower and she laid out some pyjamas and had a pot of chamomile tea waiting for her when she returned. Cassie thanked her bestfriend and the two of them got in bed, Pansy held Cassies hand until she fell asleep.
