The world of 2017 has changed since the 1900s. All the wars, battles, scars, and tragedies are left behind. A lot of peace has came towards the nations. New technology has been built to change for the better. The people around the world are friendly and kind. The only thing that hasn't left is the nations' grudges between one another. Even after both World Wars, there are some nations who still can't stand another. For example, the Axis—Germany, Japan, and Italy—and the Allies—America, Canada, France, England, Russia, and China—are still in disputes with each other. Their national leaders led them to peace later on, but they still call the opposing side 'enemies.'

The bigger problem is that seventeen nations are bonding with their mortal friends. Sure, that really doesn't seem like a big deal to mortals, but to the nations it depends. Their mortal friends go to their most beloved nation's or nations' place to hang out the most, but they do not choose sides. Thaovy, for example, is a close mortal friend to Italy and his younger brother, Seborga. Both Italians belong in the Axis. Although they are her two main friends, she is an American citizen, leading her to hang out with America as well. America belongs in the Allies, and that means the Vietnamese girl is friends with both sides and also hopes to end the Axis' and Allies' grudges soon, along with her seven other mortal friends.

Other mortal friends are also in the same situation as Thaovy. Annalise is friends with Japan from the Axis and France from the Allies—a split friendship. Dreamz as well—Australia and New Zealand in the Allies and Prussia in the Axis. The rest of the mortals are, however, are fine. Hope, for example, is friends with Canada and Russia, both in the Allies, Sammi is with China and Hong Kong, both in the Allies, Shelby is with America and Poland, both in the Allies, and Jenna is with Mexico who's in the Allies. Taylor's in a bit of a different situation. While she is friends with Romano and Spain, Spain had been invaded by the Axis and fought on both sides. Although he fought on both sides, Spain and Romano are still very close friends.

Although bonding with a mortal seems calm, nations are not allowed at all to expose their secret to humans. The eight mortal girls already know the nations' secret, but they will have to pay a price that they don't like. In order to stay away from being punished, they have to pretend to personify a province, micronation, ect. and keep a secret as a mortal from the rest of the world. It was hard for them, because they had to do more research on a landmass. Shelby and Jenna had an easy one—Michigan and Texas. Thaovy and Taylor, however, live in Texas and Ontario, but they personify San Marino and Malta, in which they are in Italy. Although it was very hard to keep their mortality a secret from other nations, they successfully persuaded them.

Two nations, France and England, had been very suspicious about them and their actions. They had later discovered about all of their mortal existence and was about to punish them until they heard the sixteen nations' thoughts towards them. That was when they decided to not punish them for pretending to personify a landmass and help them keep their secrets safe. The eight mortal girls are safe and sound today.

But is everyone safe..?

"Humans always say that they should be careful of what they wish for... because it could come true..."

"But what would be wrong if dreams could come true? Couldn't everyone be happy then?"

"Yes, it would not be bad... Would it?

"Humans are so silly~~"

"Come..."

"Come to me, sweet friend.."

A shadow causes several nations' and mortals' dreams to become true in exchange of their life forms. The rest of the nations and mortals must save them, or they will all soon be dead.
