~ Chapter 33 ~
"Meet your cousin, Mindy," my foster mom said cheerfully. "She'll be staying with us for the next month.
I rolled my eyes, "you didn't-"
"It was sort of last minute."
"Hello, Harmony," Mindy said. Why was she so lucky? She was beautiful, and had the best voice ever. And she had a family. Even if it was her aunt and uncle.
I sighed. "Hello."
"I like your hair," Mindy complimented. I looked at her waist-length blonde hair. Yeah, totally.
"Thanks. Yours is pretty too."
I didn't really want to talk anymore. "I have a lot of homework," I lied.
"Oh. Well, finish it quickly and come have dinner with us!" my foster mother said.
"Okay," I said. Of course I wasn't going to.
When I got to my room, I plopped down. Why?
I wasn't exactly a very sociable person. I didn't like people. I was fine being alone.
And this perfect angel appears out of nowhere to make me feel worse about myself.
Great.
I looked at my homework assignments. There wasn't really much. I wondered what Jerry was up to.
Stupid! Why do I keep thinking about Jerry? He clearly didn't care for me.
But did I care about him?
I told myself I didn't.
But do I believe myself?
It's impossible.
And no one remembered it was my birthday.
I cried myself to sleep that night.
