I hear screaming.

A voice shrieks, "COME HERE!!"

More screaming, "Don't hurt me!!"

The sounds get louder.

I hold my breath as I await the pain. The next thing I know, I am bleeding. I don't feel any of it but I can see it. I scream, "Stop! Stop!"

I wiped my forehead, dripping with sweat. The screaming was gone. All the sounds were gone. The blood was gone. 

Only the scars remained.

I sat up, heavily breathing, like I did every night after this happened.

The rest of the night I spent thinking.

This whole time he went to Alvin High?

Maybe the scars are on my eyes.

Maybe the pain has made me blind.

Or maybe the pain has made us both blind.

Blind to each other.

But not blind for long enough.

I closed my eyes.

I wouldn't sleep.

But maybe my nightmare thoughts would stop for once.

When I was younger, I never thought I'd ever want to be blind. 

But I was hit with a dawning realization that this isn't the first time I've wished to be blind.
