Chapter 9: Something Important?
I looked down at the body I was now "in", feeling like everything was a serial mirage. I looked back at Levi's small face, the colors of the world seemingly sharper and more vivid. I moved my feet, and took one giant step forward, moving five meters in one stride.
I could see Eren, still in his titan form, with an ecstatic Hanji on his shoulder. I looked down at my big hands, seeing newly formed skin over what had been air minutes before. I looked back to Eren, realizing that I was looking down at him. Was my titan form larger than his?
I took a few more steps forward, feeling the earth shaking beneath my feet. What was this? It was like nothing I had felt before. I could move my new "body", but it was like I could barely register any of the feelings that would've been racing through my mind if I had been walking barefoot out in the middle of a field.
I suddenly felt something rush over my actual body, that felt like it was dispersed throughout the titan form, something hot, and then cold. I fell to my knees, the ground shaking.
"What's wrong?" a muffled voice said. Darkness spread over me, and then there was a feeling in the back of my neck, and a cutting sensation...
And then my body's senses returned in full, and I felt an extreme heat all over my body. Someone was holding me, and there were more footsteps. I opened my eyes, the sunlight feeling just a little too bright on my eyes.
What had just happened? I had "transformed" or something, and now I felt like I had the worst fever of my life.
"She'll be fine." A voice sad, and I looked to the side to see Eren, slightly supported by Hanji with one arm. Eren grinned at me, holding a thumbs up at me. "You did it, (Y/n)." he said.
Hanji looked absolutely ecstatic as Levi just held me silently. "Are you okay?" the captain asked as he looked down at me.
I smiled a little, turning my head to the side, and then threw up on his shirt. I passed out a second later, hearing Hanji's laughter and Eren trying to hold it back.

I woke up in a bed in a clean pair of pants and button up shirt. My head was pounding, and as I sat up, feeling a wave of nausea wash over me.
"You're not going to throw up again, are you?" a boy's voice said, and I looked over to see Eren grinning at me from the floor. Armin was next to him, and Mikasa was sitting in a chair with a book in her hands, something on killing. Huh. That's funny.
"I'm not." I said, and coughed a second later, my throat sounding and feeling like it had been stabbed with hot daggers.
"It'll go away in a bit." Eren said, passing me a glass of water.
I took it and sipped from it. "Well that was interesting." I said a moment later, feeling a bit better. I looked at my hands, all the scars from training and what-not gone. I put my hand to my forehead, and felt my burning skin.
"How does it feel?" Armin asked, tilting his head, his blonde hair waving to the side a bit.
"Well, it feels like I'm on fire." I said, and the others laughed. I sat up and felt a wave of heat run over me, and I grinned, feeling a kind of rush in it. "Wow... but the body..." I said, and Eren laughed.
"Pretty cool, huh?" he said, leaning back on his elbows.
I looked at my hands, staring at my now perfect skin. "It's cool alright." I said.
"You titan shifters..." Mikasa said, and Armin laughed with Eren and I. We sat there for a few minutes, just talking about what I had missed while I was passed out; nothing much. Just Levi going on a cleaning rampage because of his shirt. Oops.
The door opened and we all turned and looked up at the captain, seeing his not so amused expression. "G-good afternoon, Levi—I mean captain." I said.
He nodded at the three of my friends to leave, and the quickly got to their feet, Armin standing up straight with a salute, Mikasa glaring at Levi, and Eren with his hands in his pockets. The door shut after them, and then the captain came and sat next to me.
"I'm sorry about your shirt." I said to him, blushing a little.
He shook his head. "No." He said. "How are you feeling?" He asked a moment later, and I met his worried eyes.
I grinned, punching his arm weakly. "I'm totally fine." I said.
"(Y/n). There's something important that we need to discuss with the commander. It's not the best thing..." After a second of thinking, while not really listening to what he was saying, I reached up and brushed his cheek with my fingertips before I could decide not to. I leaned up and kissed him, my eyes closing shut for a moment.
When I pulled away, I saw the surprised expression on his face, and I started laughing. He looked away, fixing his cravat, while avoiding my eyes.
"Are you blushing, captain?" I asked, moving my legs out from under the covers and sitting next to him.
"No." he said, even though his deep red blush was only just going down. He didn't strike me as the kind of person to blush at something like that.
My feet dangled off of the bed, not quite touching the floor. "Was there something you wanted to say? I wasn't listening. Sorry." I said, smiling up at him.
Just for a second, it looked as if something passed behind his eyes, a kind of worry, anger... I couldn't tell. One of his rare smiles passed over his face, and my heart warmed. "It was nothing." He said.
I leaned up against him. "Okay. If you're sure." I said.
He moved his arm around me, and I smiled, enjoying the comfort of his touch. I didn't want to say that I loved him, because I felt like he would laugh at me for saying something so childish. I sighed, closing my eyes.
"You're burning up." He said, and I felt his hand on my forehead.
I opened my eyes and smiled a little. "I feel fine." I said. I felt something on my face, and I wiped my nose, looking at it and seeing a smear of blood on it.
"I'll go get Hanji." Levi said, standing.
"But I'm okay." I insisted even as the small flow of blood from my nose continued.
He got down on his knees, and looked into my eyes. "I'm just gonna get Hanji, (Y/n)." he said. He pulled his cravat from around his neck, and dabbed at the blood on my face, staining the white cloth. "I'll be right back." He said, handing me the fabric, and standing, going to the door and leaving, closing it behind him.
I looked after him. I felt fine, but it seemed as if my body had other ideas. I would just wait until Hanji told Levi that I was fine.
What was it that Levi was talking about? Something important with the commander? I couldn't remember. "Oh well." I said aloud, sighing and closing my eyes while I attempted to stop the flow of blood from my nose.
