Chapter 6: When Will Things Get Better?

There was bright light shining onto my face, and it made my eyes hurt a little as it woke me up. I moved my fingers to the edge of the sheets and pulled them higher up as I turned to the side. The sunlight stayed persistent on my eyelids, and I slowly slid them open, seeing where I was.

It was a big room, finely furnished, the bed I was in big and with soft sheets. I looked out a great window overlooking the landscape of a city, and I remembered that we had come back into the walls. I slowly sat up, looking out at the tops of the buildings; the bright blue sky looking like it was close.

"We're back in the walls."

I looked over, seeing Levi sitting at a desk in the room, papers strewn out in front of him. I was surprised to see him sitting there, and I sat up, expecting to feel pain, but there was nothing.

I looked down at my hand, seeing that any and all scars that I had gotten my whole life, including the ones I had gotten while I had lived in... well, they were all gone. I looked up at Levi, who was now watching me carefully. "What happened?" I asked.

He sighed, looking at his papers, and stood, walking to me and sitting on the edge of the bed I was in. I pulled my knees to my chest as I looked into his eyes, watching him.

"You were dead." He said. "Or, close to it."

I could feel ice run through me as he said the words so plainly. But it was like I could see something more in his eyes... but I couldn't quite tell and it was hidden before I could catch what it was.

He let out a puff of air, and ran a hand through his short, black hair. "Hanji suggested it... and we had no idea what else to do." He said.

I tilted my head, feeling as if I already knew what he was going to say next, but not wanting to think the words. I wanted to hear the words from him, because then I would know that I really was...

"We injected you with a rare serum that was created in Hanji's lab. We weren't sure it would work, but you were almost gone, and there was no other option." He said, beginning to ramble a little. It wasn't like him, and could I hear... guilt, in his voice?

"What was it?" I asked him, and even I could hear my words trembling.

He looked into my eyes with his grey ones. "(Y/n). They turned you into a titan-shifter." He said.

I was silent, thinking. It was as if the words hadn't quite sunk in, and after a moment, my hands began to tremble. "One bad thing," I said. "After another." I looked up at him, the tears unable to escape my eyes and roll down my cheeks. "I thought that when... when I escaped, everything would be better." I said.

His hand moved to mine, and I could see his eyes trying to tug the answer of the question I had just put into the air. "Escape?" he finally asked after a pause.

I wanted to draw my hand away from his, but I couldn't. "The Underground." I said.

Emotions flashed over the captain's face, and for a moment, I though he was going to yell at me. I shrank back as he stood up, turning away from me. I wasn't sure what I had done, said.

He was silent for a long time, and I was staring to think that he was thinking of how to tell me he was going to have to send me back. But I couldn't go back to that place... ever.

I stood, the light nightgown I was in fluttering around my body. "Levi..." I said, my voice cracking. "Please don't send me back... I know that it's against the law, and that's why I never told anyone. If they had found out, I would have to go back to him—" I said, my voice cracking at the thought of the reason I had clawed my way out of the Underground. That man.

Levi didn't respond as he looked out of the window, soft-looking white curtains, wavering about in the small wind omitted from the pane. "Please!" I begged, grasping the back of his white shirt, the fabric bunching in my fingers. "I can't go back—" desperation had entered my voice, and even remembering the cold streets, dark houses, and the face of my family and the man, were enough my make my body tremble.

Levi turned, and I could feel his strong arms crushing about me. He buried his face into my hair, and I stared past him through the window at the blue sky and tall buildings. The scene began to blur as I realized I had begun to cry.

"I won't send you back to that wretched place." He said, his deep voice softer than I had heard it before. After a moment, he pulled away and looked at me, his grey eyes searching my face. "But you need to tell me everything." He said, his hands resting on my cheeks, his thumb moving slowly back and forth.

"Okay..." I whispered softly, the secret of my life underground begging to be set free.

Sorry this part was a little short, but I've been having minor writer's block with the story. And also, sorry 'bout the feels! XD I enjoy writing them though c:

So anyway, I feel like I have a pretty good story line for this one (so far...), but I really wish you guys would comment more and give me advice! Please tell me if I've got something wrong (try to be nice), and tell me if you want something in particular! I was thinking of doing a smexy-ish scene, please don't die, but that would probably be later on.

COmment on what you think your back story should be in the underground, and how the whole "you've been injected with the titan syrum" thing should turn out!

And spread the story please!

Love you guys <3
