Chapter 4: Rain

Extra long part becasue I took so long updating ^.^

Please share my sory around and comment! I'll be doing detications/shout outs!

I could hear footsteps in the hallway and my door slammed open. I saw Erin's face, his green eyes bright. "There's titans." He said, and then ran off in some direction.

I could feel all of the blood leave my face, and my hands felt clammy. The titan's were here, and I was going to get killed. I sat down on the edge of my bed, staring at my booted feet. What was I going to do?

"(Y/n)!" someone shouted, and I was shaken from my daze. "Get your ass moving!" said a geared up Jean from my doorway. He ran off, and I ran out of my door after the others.

We all ran to the stables and mounted the horses assigned to us. I had a little trouble getting onto mine, but after Mikasa came over and made a step for me, I was fine. I was good at fighting; swinging on and off of my horse was no problem. But getting onto my horse...

"All ranks, this way!" was shouted at us, and we began to form into the groups that were assigned to us. I remembered that this was Erwin's plan for if we were attacked or when we went out into the field. I rode my horse over to my group as the rest of the ranks formed around me.

In my group, there were to men, and a nice-looking woman. They didn't greet me with smiles, only firm nods as their eyes trained on their surroundings. We began moving away from our HQ and out into titan territory. It was risky, but we would be heading toward Wall Rose and would go to a Survey Corpse inner wall HQ where we could regroup.

My heart was pounding in my ears as the giant group of small groups began to form. As we started riding, I could feel a slight burning in my chest. All of the healing I had done would be for naught because of this. I looked to my side, seeing that if I squinted, I could faintly see some of the other groups.

"(Y/n)." I voice said, and I nearly jumped out of my moving saddle. I looked over, and saw Levi, his stern face looking me over. "Are you okay? You have your gear?" he asked.

I nodded, gulping as I saw green smoke shoot off into one direction. I fumbled for a second before drawing out one of the flare guns and shooting it off. "Yep! I'm fine! I got my gear!" I said, my hands shaking as I put my flares away.

He was riding close to me, and he reached out and put a hand on my shoulder. "I don't want you to fight unless absolutely necessary." He said.

I nodded, gripping my reigns. "Y-yes, Levi." I said. My fists were shaking as my horse ran fast beneath me.

Levi reached down and squeezed one of his larger hands over one of my small hands. I looked up at him, seeing the faint warmth in his eyes. "You'll be okay."" He said.

I nodded, and looked up at the sky as a crack of thunder made itself very clear. I saw rain beginning to fall down on our heads. It seamed right for it to rain, because I was going to die. I wouldn't be able to fight, not with the shape I was in. As fog began to collect around us and I could barely see the flares anymore, I felt a weight crushing down on me.

I heard someone swear, and looked over at one of my other squad mates, the man having trouble with his flare gun. He finally got the black flare to fit in right, and pointed it upward, shooting it into the sky. We all watched as the black smoke get swallowed up by the pouring rain.

"It won't work." Levi's dark voice said. I turned and looked at him, his hood over his head and covering his eyes. We heard a faint scream and chills went down my back. That was a certain kind of scream; the one of someone who's body is being torn to pieces.

I pulled my hood over my head, and reached for my reigns as the rain made them slick. I gripped them, deciding that I wouldn't let go of them. I knew if I didn't hold them or grab them right, I would slip right off of my horse.

We all looked to the side as a loud noise reached our ears. "Sound flare coming from over there." One of the other men said. We steered our horses in the direction of the noise and rode fast.

There was a loud boom in front of us and wet earth flew into my face. I wiped it away as my horse reared, nearly throwing me. I gasped as a twinge ran through my ribs, and I caught my breath after a second.

I looked up at what had caused the commotion, and my eyes widened as I saw the five-meter class titan standing before us. Its bright face smiled down at us, and I could've sworn my heart jumped out of my throat.

"This way!" Levi shouted, and we attempted to swerve around the ghastly thing. Its head turned, following us. Levi whispered a curse words under his breath and I looked at him, my face pale with fear.

A great hand reached down so suddenly, none of us could act, and grabbed the woman in our group. She screamed, and I looked up. Not again. I wouldn't let this happen again.

Adrenalin pumped through me and I jumped off my horse, shooting my gear to connect with the flesh of the titan, its teeth about to crush down onto the woman's neck. I pulled the trigger that propelled me forward, and I flew up faster than a bird around the titan's arm and up to it's neck. I flew past the nape, catching the opportunity to slice deep into its weak point.

The creature fell to the ground, its body already starting to smoke. I ran up to its head, my blood going cold as I saw my comrade's body crushed beneath the head of the titan. I bent my head. I wasn't fast enough.

"(Y/n)! Get the hell back on your horse!" Levi yelled at me, his voice snapping me from my daze. I nodded, grabbing the reigns tightly and pulling myself up onto the saddle.

We started riding again, in silence, awaiting the sound of another sound flare. When we heard one, we turned in the direction of it, and continued. We saw no other titans for a few brief moments, but we could hear great footsteps in the distance. I shivered. Just how many of these things were there?

I heard a crunch, and whipped my head around, seeing one of the two other men in my squad crushed beneath a giant hand. The other male who I didn't know the name of yelled with rage and turned his horse around to face the beast. Levi tried to call to him, but the fog had swallowed him already.

I turned my horse around to go back to him, but Levi grabbed the bridal on the beasts head. I looked at him, rage in my eyes. "He might still be alive!" I yelled, barely heard over the rain.

I whipped my head around as I heard a man's scream, and my shoulders went slack. It was his scream. He was dead. "No!" I yelled and ripped my horse away from Levi. I galloped in the direction that the man's screams were coming from, and I burst through the fog.

I pulled my horse up short as I saw blood everywhere. I looked up, my hands starting to shake as I saw the enormous titan before me, it's teeth gnashing down on a human body. Its eyes spotted me, and it dropped the remains of my comrade's body. It was probably a fifteen or twenty-meter class, and its eyes bore down on me.

I leapt off my horse, my gear shooting up into its chest. My damp hair stuck to my face as I flew up to the giant beings face, digging my hand into its enormous face to hold on. Hot titan blood burned my fingers, but I didn't care as I stared into its big eyes with hate.

"Bastard." I said, wanting to rip it apart.

Something big hit me in the side, and I gasped as I flew to the ground. I smashed into the mud and coughed blood as I felt healing ribs snap and shatter. My eyes grew wide as I saw its big fingers reaching slowly down to me.

I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to block out the pain. All this time I'd been wishing that I had died on that day, but now... all I wanted to do was live. But I couldn't do that now.

I should've stayed in the Underground. I should've stayed where I belonged. I thought as I felt titan fingers wrap around my body and begin to lift me into the air. I could feel a kind of peace fill my body. Just a little longer, and everything would be okay.

My mind began to shut down a little as the blood circulation to my bran slowed as the titan crushed me beneath its meaty fingers. Silence filled my mind, my muscles relaxing. I could feel the titan's breath on my skin, and I closed my eyes, the almost familiar feeling of giant teeth about to crush me surrounding me.

"Titan trash!" I heard a familiar voice scream, and I heard multiple horses thunder on the ground beneath me. I opened my eyes enough to see three figures flashing around the titan. I felt its finger let go of my body as it fell backwards, and I began falling to the ground.

"Catch her!" I heard a voice say, and it was panicked, the sound of slashing blades around it. Was it Levi's?

I couldn't explain what my mind registered as it hit the ground, the water splashing up around me. It was as if thousands of hammers smashed into my body at once, but I couldn't feel anything for a moment; it was as if time had stopped for a moment, holding me safe in it terrible fingers.

And then, the pain hit me.

I could feel each and every one of my ribs crack at once, and my head exploded with agony. My eyes went wide, and I stared up as I heard people screaming my name. A buzzing filled my ears, and my eyes began to slip closed.

Three forms landed next to me, their faces frantic. I saw Eren, Mikasa, and Levi. Levi was frantically drying to decide what to do. He reached down after Mikasa said something to him, her eyes looking me over once. His hands gently moved under my back, and he lifted me, ever so slightly.

My hearing returned in full, and it was filled with the sound of my own scream. Levi almost dropped me, but Mikasa yelled at him and he lifted me off the ground. I clutched his back with aching hands as my scream broke and turned into sobbing.

I couldn't think. All I could register was pain. Levi mounted his horse, and so did Eren and Mikasa. We started riding, me facing Levi as he held onto me tightly. I tried to whisper in his ear, but my lips couldn't form words. 'Kill me!' is what I wanted to scream, but my face felt numb with cold and hot all at once.

There was a raging pain in my chest, and when I looked down, some blood fell from my mouth. I tried wipe it away with the back of one of my shaking hands, but my shoulder felt like lead with hurt. The bumping of the horse made my ribs and head hurt, making me want to throw myself off the side of the horse so they would have to leave me to die.

"The storm is breaking!" Eren yelled.

I looked in the direction that we were heading away from, Eren and Mikasa's faces looking at me as crimson blood ran from my mouth. The clouds were starting to split in all directions, and the fog around us started clearing. I heard one of the loud sound flares as my eyes slipped closed, and Mikasa said something about a yellow color flare.

The yellow meant that Erwin had decided on a spot to stop and regroup. Levi urged his horse on, and I leaned into him with my eyes closed as we neared the rest of the groups.

"Don't you die on me." He whispered as his eyes looked ahead.

My eyes fluttered open and I found myself looking at his leather jacket. I moved my eyes up to his face and smiled, blood staining my chin. I could feel a large gash on my forehead, and a dribble of blood ran down my face, barely missing my eye. "Levi..." I managed as we just about met the rest of the Survey Corps. "I can't breathe..." I whispered into the older man's ear.

There was yelling and I felt Levi's horse stop. He called out for a few people to come forward and help get me to the ground. I smiled a little as I felt grass touch my face. It seemed that the rain hadn't touched where we were now, because it was warm. Or, maybe it was because I couldn't feel my body because it was enveloped in pain.

I heard footsteps, and a man's voice. "Levi! What happened?" It was Erwin.

There was more talking, but I didn't pay attention to it. I focused on breathing, and not passing out from pain. I felt a small hand slip into mine, and I turned my eyes to the people next to me.

I saw a tiny girl, smaller than me, on her knees next to me, her fingers laced into mine. Her blonde hair fell about her shoulders, the long locks tied back into a loose ponytail. She smiled sweetly at me. "My name's Krista." She said.

I tired to hold onto her hand, and just focus on her, but hot pain rushed through me, and I coughed. I felt multiple jagged things dig into my lungs, and more blood splattered from my mouth.

"What's your name?" Krista asked. I appreciated her trying to distract me, and I focused on her.

"(Y/n)..." I whispered quietly, and she nodded, telling me that she had heard.

"Nice to meet you." She said. I saw someone else kneel next to me on the ground, and I turned my head slowly over to see two others about my age, two girls, one with long brown hair, and the other with short, almost black hair, and she was taller than the brunette.

"What's wrong with her?" The taller of the two asked.

Krista looked at her for a moment before returning her eyes to me. "I'm not sure."

I coughed again as I tried to form words. "Don't talk." The shorter brunette said.

I moved my hand up to Krista's arm, squeezing onto her tightly. "Out of nowhere..." I chocked. "Titians... from the... fog-" I was cut off with a fit of coughing, and the three looked at each other. Tears started streaming down my face as I looked up at the three. "All of them... dead... my squad mates..." I whispered, barely audible. "I fell." I said, closing my eyes and took a breath.

"Commander!" the blonde called.

I heard a few more people run over and I opened my eyes to see Erwin and Hanji. I wondered where Levi was, but then the two girls next to me moved and I felt the captain's familiar fingers in mine.

"We're fifteen minutes from the walls. I sent a group ahead to call for a medic. One should be coming from the inner wall... if we can get one." The comander said. The tall man bent next to me, his hand gently resting on my shoulder, light enough so he wouldn't hurt me. "Can you last that long?" he asked.

I nodded as my breaths rattled in and out. "Yes... Sir." I said, trying to keep my eyes open.

Erwin straightened, and he looked down at Levi. "Levi, tell everyone to get ready." He said.

Levi shook his head, his hand holding onto mine tightly. "No sir." He said.

"Levi." The taller man said.

I squeezed Levi's finger and nodded slightly. He looked into my eyes, seeming pained, and got to his feet. He walked off in the direction of the troops, and began to yell for everyone to get onto their horses and to prepare to head to the wall.

"How will we get her to the walls, commander?" Krista asked.

The tall commander standing next to us looked worried. "We had no time to get the wagons ready when we evacuated. We'll have to carry her." He said.

I remembered Levi carrying me to where we were now, and I could feel my face grow paler. I could see Levi again, and said something to Erwin, and the two turned as they spoke.

"What if Eren carried her, Ymir?" Krista asked. "You know, in his titan form?" she asked.

I looked over the three girls' faces standing around me, remembering hearing about Eren's unique ability. But my mind was too fogy to think about it too much, just trying to concentrate on the stitches on Krista's jacket.

"That could work." The taller black haired girl that I recalled as Ymir, said. She looked over at Levi and the commander. "Though, I don't think short stack and eyebrows will agree." I laughed a little, the sound a terrible rasping, and Ymir looked down at me. She bent down and put a hand on my shoulder, sending a twinge of pain through my arm. "Take it easy, girly." She said.

I tried to tell her, 'okay', but instead it came out as a faint rasping whisper. She squeezed my shoulder and looked at Krista. "Do they not have any sort of bandages at all?" she asked.

Krista shook her head. "I don't think so." She said.

Ymir looked at the other girl. "Sasha. Go double check." She said.

"Yes ma'am!" the brunette said and ran off, talking to different people, asking, as she ran along.

The commander and Levi returned, the two bending down to talk to me. "(y/n)? We've decided that the only way that we'll be able to transport you is by horse. Levi can carry you, and it's only fifteen minutes." Erwin said.

Krista looked at Levi and the commander. "Can I suggest that Erin use his titan form to transport her?" the girl asked.

Levi and Erwin had blank faces for a moment, as if they hadn't thought of that, then the commander stood and walked off, calling for Eren.

"That'll be better, I think." Levi said, moving some of my soaked hair from my face.

A stab of pain ran through my chest and I weakly grasped the front of Levi's shirts, the clean white becoming stained with my blood. Something jagged, and I knew they were my shattered ribs, were stabbing into my lungs and it was becoming harder and harder to breathe.

I looked into the older man's grey eyes, seeing the wall of cold, unmoving, deadpan emotion falter as tears began to rush down my face again. "Kill me..." I managed.

He took my hand in his and glanced at Krista and Ymir as if asking for help. The blonde girl seemed helpless as Ymir looked down at me, thinking.

"Please...?" I said, coughing as something trickled into my lungs and I coughed to expel it, shuddering with agony.

"Eren will do it." The commander's voice seemed to boom in my ears. I looked up to see the blonde man and Eren and Mikasa. Eren held a small silver knife in his hand, and he looked worried as he looked down at my bleeding form. Mikasa nodded at him, and he jogged about thirty feet away from us.

"He should be able to control himself, because we've been working on him lately." Hanji's loud voice said as she walked to us. "We'll be able to communicate with him and tell him what to do."

Levi nodded, his eyes looking me over. I knew that my shirt was torn and part of my deformed, mangled chest and ribs were showing. I could feel that far too many of my bones were broken, and unless a miracle happened, I wasn't going to survive.

There was a loud boom and a rush of hot and I moved my eyes to look at the spot where Eren had been standing. My eyes grew slightly wide as I saw an enormous titan standing in his place. It had to be a fifteen meter class, and it seemed much taller to me than a titan usually would, feeling helpless.

Mikasa and Hanji flew up to his face with their gear attached to his shoulders. They were talking at him, and his green eyes looked over at me, and it looked as if he nodded. His giant footsteps shook the earth as he walked to us in five great strides.

He bent down, and for a moment, I felt a rush of fear run through me as he lowered his hand down, palm up, and looked inquisitively at Levi. Krista let go of my hand and Levi moved his arms under me. I gasped as hot and cold pain rushed over me in awful waves.

Then, Levi set me down on Eren's giant hand and I was laying flat again. The shorter man used his gear to fly up onto Eren's shoulder. The warm flesh beneath me relaxed my muscles, and I looked up at the teeth protruding from Eren's face as he looked down at me.

"The gates will be opened when we get there, and there will be a medical team waiting with transportation at the walls." Erwin said, and then, slowly, Eren lifted my body into the air.

The pain was less than if I had been on a horse, but it was still terrible. I closed my eyes and let the almost rocking motion and the sound of Eren's footsteps calm me down.

"Hang on, (y/n)." Levi's voice said, right before I fell into a daze where I couldn't move, my eyes slipping closed.
