Chapter 13: Walls

The warm summer air was nice on my skin, the soft silk dress seeming to pool over my skin. I looked up at the sun, the girls sitting around me giggling and sipping their tea like there was no tomorrow. I watched a small bird hopping around on the grass, and my eyes lingered on its light blue feathers.

It had been over a month since I had seen Levi, Eren, and Mikasa that one night in my room. So many things had happened. There had been a huge marriage where I had married Damon, the King's son, and the wedding had been a strange montage where the king had spoken to me before and I said exactly what he wanted me to. I never thought that I would get married this young, in fact, I never thought I would marry someone that I hated. But that had been a dream of mine when I had been no more than three years old.

There had been another wall breach in one of the outer wall districts, but the Survey Corps had come in and crushed all the titans. Summer had come as well, and I was very unhappy.

I rose, and all the democrats' daughters and such looked at me, waiting for me to say something and enlighten their pathetic lives. It wasn't that I had something against them, I just found that this lifestyle was quite pitiful; sitting around when I could be saving people by killing titans.

As I walked away from them without a word, I thought where this sudden revulsion with the titans had come from? There was this burning need in me to kill them. I laughed to myself a little, pausing and looking out over the fishpond they had in the garden. "I sound like Eren." I said to myself, chuckling.

I sat by the pond, the soil next to it grinding into my dress. It was their fault for making me wear something that was so hard to do anything in. I reached out and dipped my fingers into the water, watching one of the large koi fish moving up to me slowly in the water and swimming around my fingers.

I put my hand onto the stones that lined the edge of the pong, the moss feeling fuzzy against my fingers. I stuck my whole hand into the pond, the sleeve of my dress dipping in and getting wet, and touched the fish. It turned away from me and slowly glided back through the clear water to where it was out of my reach.

"(Y/n)." A man's voice said, and I looked behind me, seeing Damon standing there. There were other men and women with him, maybe five or six of them, all dress in fine clothing like Damon. Damon walked to me, his lips in a smile, and his eyes telling me everything. Him and his father had had many discussions with me about how to act in front of people; as if I was completely in love with Damon.

I smiled at Damon, the feeling of the expression on my lips disgusting. "Damon." I said, taking his outstretched hand with my wet one, his eyebrow twitching in annoyance at his now wet hand. A small victory for me. He pulled a small piece of cloth that could barely be called a napkin from his pocket, and dried my hand off.

"She enjoys being outside." Damon said to the nicely dressed people. I just smiled at them, and dusted the dirt off of my dress. I took Damon's arm, trying to keep a straight face as my wet sleeve rested against his shirt. Luckily, the fabric on my dress was dark enough that no one would be able to see the water. But Damon felt it, and I knew that I would have to pay for that later.

"My love," Damon said, gesturing to all the people. "These are different democrats from the different wall provinces." He said. I smiled at all of them as he started saying their names and where they came from, all of them going in and out of my head. "We will invite you to come to dinner tonight." Damon said to them.

He nodded to them and they started walking down the garden path with me. After we were out of earshot, Damon spoke. "Sir Lovecart is a sneaking bastard." He muttered under his breath.

I looked back to the group of people, who were conversing jovially and seeming to whisper secret things. "Which one is that?" I asked.

"The old fat one." Damon said, muttering other insults too. "He wants my kingdom, and is trying to find any excuse that I'm not the actual king. That little—" he began, and I had to keep myself from laughing at the words that came out of his mouth. A tiny laugh escaped my mouth, and I tried to stifle it. "Stop laughing." He said, and I did.

When we reached the doors of the palace, I saw a guard that I recognized from the first night that I had been taken here. He was smaller than the others, almost feminine, his blonde hair blowing slightly in the wind as he and one other tall male MP walked down the outdoor corridor.

"Walk with her." Damon said, pushing me to the two MPs. They looked startled and came to attention. "Make sure she doesn't get into the trouble, and then take her back to her room before dinner to change." He said, walking off briskly.

I looked at the two boys, the two of them my age. I looked at the blonde one's face, his features looking delicate. "What are your names?" I asked.

The taller one, who had dark hair, saluted. "Leonardo ((In honor of L.D. finally getting an Oscar))." He said. I reached out, and shook his hand, his cheeks turning bright red.

I looked to the other blonde one. "Julian." He said, his blue-grey eyes looking into mine.

I put my finger on my lip, looking at him. "I feel like I know you from somewhere..." I said. He opened his mouth to start to say something but I didn't let him speak. "No. Before this place." I said, looking at his face. "Were you in the 104th training corps?" I asked. He nodded, and so did the other guy. "Were you in (I totally forget the district with Eren and such oops. Comment and I'll fix...)?" I asked. He nodded. "I don't remember you, but do you have a sister? And was she in that corps?" I asked.

Julian looked a little uncomfortable, and for a moment, I thought that I had done something wrong. I waved my hands apologetically as he was opening his mouth to talk. "Never mind! I'm sorry." I said, bowing to him.

"No! Please, my queen." He said.

I laughed and smiled at the two of them. "Don't call me that. Please." I said, and the two nodded. "Call me (Y/n)." I said. They looked at each other, grinning a little. "Now." I said, moving out my arm to Leonardo. He offered his arm, his face pink, and I put my arm into his, the side that wasn't soaking wet with pond water. "Where should we walk for the next hour?" I asked.

We went around the castle, exploring the different guard towers and what not. It was all very interesting, my time in the Survey Corps coming back to me. I stopped at the top of one of the walls, looking out over the big fields that then met with the inner wall's city. There were people bustling around, calling, their voices almost inaudible from so far away.

"Hey!" a gruff voice said, and Leonardo, Julian, and I turned to see five rough-looking guards standing across the wall a little ways.

"Yes?" I asked them, and they stood a little straighter almost. When I glanced at Julian out of the corner of my eye, his eyes were down and he was a little ways behind Leo (the name I had begun to call him).

I looked back to the guards, seeing them looking to the younger MP with vicious looks. Had they done something bad to Julian? "Hello, Juliana." One of the older MPs said, and the whole group started laughing. Leo looked pained and pushed Julian more behind him.

"Excuse me?" I said.

The guards grinned at me, bowing mockingly. "Your majesty. We were ordered to bring you back to your room early." The oldest said. I moved back a little, not trusting the MPs. They all laughed, and grinned. "We can always take the time and have a little fun with the little guy." They said.

One of the MPs grabbed me, holding a hand over my mouth. The others went to the two younger MPs, and after hitting Leo in the stomach and making him double over in pain, they started beating Julian harshly.

I yelled through the MPs hand for them to stop, but they continued, the deserted part of the wall harboring no one to help us. After a few minutes, during witch Julian had become bloodied and broken looking, his tiny form on the ground, the MPs stopped. "Stupid girl." One said.

'Girl?' I thought, tears in my eyes at the sight of my two new companions on the ground. Julian was a boy. What were they talking about?

They turned to me. "Take her back to her room." They said.

As they started pulling me away, I tore from the MPs arms and fell next to Julian and Leo, whispering, "Come to my room tonight." before the guards dragged me away.
