epilogue

Thunder echoed throughout the quiet town of Woodsboro' as lightning lit up the sky with its bright flashes of anger. Rain pounded their bodies as they stood in the muddy grass, there wasn't a dry person there.

Everyone was wet, wether it was the rain, or their tears, they were all drenched to the bone. Everyone's sadness seemed to have leak into the atmosphere as the sky cried with them.

Sam and Tara held hands as they cried into each other, Mindy had her face hidden in Chad's chest as he stood next to Tara. They were all dressed in black, with black umbrellas and each holding a single pink rose.

Everyone was there was there for the same reason, to say goodbye, a bitter pill to swallow, but a word that is needed in life.

This day would haunt them forever, for they weren't spending the time at a park, or their garden but at a church, in the graveyard burying their loved one.

Gale cried into Sidney's chest as they sank to the floor, Kirby stood on her own looking at the coffin being lowered into the ground as Gale stepped forwards. "Lexi,-" She paused as her words caught in her throat. "She was the type of person who walked into a room and instantly lifted the mood, even if it was in the middle of a serious conversation. Her presence alone turned the worst day into a day just that little bit more bareable. My baby girl was taken from us too soon, but she did it to save others." Tears rolled down Gale's cheeks as she sobbed, Sidney walking up to her.

"I can't-" Gale broke down as she shook with the force of her sobs. "I don't know how to say goodbye. It doesn't make sense that a mother outlives her own child. She was just twenty!" Sidney sunk to the floor with Gale in her arms, both crying.

"Lexi was like a daughter to me, I've known her since the day she was born and instantly, I knew, that Gale and Dewey were going to have their hands full." She paused as everyone laughed through their tears. "She didn't deserve any of this. She was born into a life that wasn't ready for her but she took it on and fought til the very end." The remaining survivors of the attacks were all beside themselves with grief, Tara and Sam had tried to comfort Gale but she wouldn't speak to them.

"I can't believe she's gone." Chad cried as Mindy shook her head. "I keep expecting her to jump out from behind a tree and call us losers for crying." Sam nodded her head as the four walked towards the coffin together.

"Bye Lexie, watch over us with Wes, Anika, Liv and Kristian. I love you." Mindy cried as she dropped her pink rose onto her best friends grave as Chad rubbed her back, before he dropped his rose too.

Tara walked forwards with tears dribbling down her cheeks as Sam held onto her arm. "Thank you for giving eight years of your life to us, for bringing your sunshine into my life. I miss you everyday that you're gone, but I'm glad that you're safe. See you on the other side." Tara dropped her rose onto the coffin as did Sam, then it was Gale and Sidney's turns.

"Bye kiddo, look after your dad for me and keep smiling. Light up heaven like you lit up my life." Sidney whispered as she placed her rose down, holding Gale's hands as she stepped forwards, tremblind.

"Lexi, sweetheart, I wish I didn't have to say goodbye, but I love you you little terror. Tell your dad I love him, and remember I love you so much." Gale dropped to her knees and rested her hands on her daughter's gravestone, her cluster of pink and white roses on the head of the coffin." Mud was thrown ontop of the grave as the seven survivors of Woodsboro' bowed their heads and mourned one of them.
