chapter xx.

It had been four days since the hospital attack and I was finally recovering enough to be able to be discharged. "I'm sick of hospitals." I told Mindy as she helped me to get changed into some loose jeans, a crop top and an oversized hoodie. We were going out on some random hunt for the killer and I wanted to look good if I was seeing a killer.

Mindy and Tara had helped me to do my hair and change my bandages and dressings. "Ready?" Chad asked as he poked his head in, Mindy throwing a pillow at him in response. "Okay, I'll take that as a no..." He muttered as he shut the door once more. Tara grabbed my bag with the laptop, headphones, chargers, blankets and hoodies whilst Mindy took one of my hands and wrapped my arm around her shoulder.

Ethan was going to drop my stuff at the apartment before meeting us at the station, he'd apologised, or attempted to and I was too exhausted to discuss it. Tara threw the bag to Ethan who nodded and walked the four blocks to our apartment, she then took my other hand and we walked as a trio to the station with Chad being annoying infront.

"I think we should give up, give me up. They want me, so if that's what needs to happen to keep you guys safe, then I'd do it in a heartbeat." Mindy and Tara stopped walking as they stared at me in shock, Sam coming over from her place at a bench besides the station at seeing us stop.

"Are you crazy?" Chad asked as he stood infront of me, a look of disbelief on his features. "We're not doing that." He shook his head as they others agreed, pulling me forwards as we kept walking. "We're in this together, the bad and the good, the fun and the scary." He pulled me in for a hug which I recieved with opened arms.

Mindy relocked her fingers around mine, looking scared. "No. Absolutely not, we're a family." Sam nodded as she lead the way, her hand held in her pockets firmly. The cute boy from the apartment across from us was at the bench Sam had been.

"Surviving five." Chad punched the air with a cheer, everyone burst into laughter, loud and happy peals of laughter, that hurt our stomachs and made us feel as if we couldn't breathe.

Sam, Tara and Kirby had apparently already come up with a plan with detective Bailey, using the keycards to the theatre and Kirby would meet us there. I had a bad feeling, I'd had a suspicion that I felt guilty for having, and confused. I was thinking back to my Aunt Sid, and her half brother, Roman. He had faked his death, to get off of the suspect list when he executed the third ghostface murders. What stopped Quinn from doing the same?

I had watched Anika die with my own hands, her head split open as her brain splattered across the pavement. All I saw of Quinn was her supposedly dead body covered in what looked like blood, but that could've been a trap to get us to drop our guards. That was one possible killer. And another, Ethan.

Whenever there was an attack he was AWOL and always used the same excuses about ECON. He had snapped at us breaking his dorky character multiple times, and I was starting to see a side I didn't like of him come to light. Ethan would've been nobody's first choice for a serial killer, but all the signs pointed to him. Never trust the love interest or someone you recently met, never go anywhere alone, - he was always alone.

My crush could possibly be the one trying to kill me and my friends, and it wasn't a pleasant thought. We met Ethan by the platform, as our train pulled in. "You guys don't need to come with us." Tara told Ethan and Danny, I think she'd caught on to my train of thought about Ethan.

"We peel off and the killer attacks us one by one? No thank you." Ethan deadpanned as he leant against the wall waiting for Mindy and I to catch up.

Sam grabbed Tara's hand as Chad grabbed mine and Mindy's. Mindy got pulled away from us as Chad and I tried to grab onto her but Danny pulled as back and the door slammed in our faces. "Mindy!" I shouted as I banged my hands against the window as she looked scared, Ethan was behind her.

Tara turned around at my cry as Chad hung onto my arm, I was still unsteady on my feet and there were no seats. And I didn't do well in big crowds. "She missed the train. We tried to pull her on but cute boy pulled us back as the doors shut in her face." Chad growled as Sam groaned.

Chad's phone pinged with a message from Mindy telling us to meet her there. My heart was hammering in my chest as I felt like I couldn't breathe. I was claustrophobic at the best of times, but in a train full of people dressed up as the thing that killed my dad, aunt, boyfriend, friends and almost my mom and me, I was freaking out more than a little.

Tara's hand tightened around my own as one of the ghostfaces walked towards us. A whimper escaped by mouth involuntarily as Chad pulled me back into him, Danny standing infront of all of us. But it just moved past us.

After what felt like hours, but was only twenty minutes at the most, we were being pushed out the train, Chad's grip tight on my wrist as Tara held on tight to my other hand. Kirby was standing outside with her hand on her gun. She led us inside as Sam stopped Danny from coming with us, a hard but good call to make.

We couldn't take any more chances.

Chad and Tara pushed me inside, one on either side of me, refusing to leave me alone. I appreciated it, but right now I wanted two people, Wes and my dad. And neither could come and get me. Kirby was explaining the trap she set for the killers to Sam and Tara as I stayed with Chad, already feeling exhausted.

He pulled me into him and rested my head on his shoulder, he always knew when I was struggling and what to do. He was like the brother I never got to have and never knew I needed.

"Shit." We heard Sam groan as Chad pulled me with him. I stood with Sam as Chad and Tara sneaked off to the concessions stand. Sam had a tight grip on my arm, reassuring herself that we were there and safe.

A scream echoed through the theatre. Tara. Sam and I sprinted to where we'd seen them last, Tara was bleeding from her back as Chad was fighting the killer off. Tara saw us and fell into Sam who held us both tight.

Chad grabbed Tara's hand as Sam held mine and they led us into the main part of the theatre. "It's Kirby! She's the killer!" Sam explained as Chad gave her a look of annoyance, that said no shit.

My shaky hand pointed up to scaffolding, leading to a second section, a way to the roof. Sam nodded and we carefully crept through the empty aisles towards the wood. Ghostface jumped out at us, cutting off our paths and waved the knife about catching my cheek. "Fuck!" I groaned as a hand went to my bleeding cheek.

Ghostface had Chad up against a display, knife raised, a cry built in my throat fighting to escape as Tara struggled in Sam's grip. "Not into movies, motherfucker?" Chad shouted as he threw the tv camera from the original killings at the killer. He got back on his feet as Chad held him off using the camera as a weapon. "Go!" He yelled at us, Sam pulling us away.

Chad was holding off a ghostface when another stepped behind him, driving their knife into his back. The first killer picks up his knife and stabs Chad in the stomach, they swung their knives simultaneously into his body as he crumpled on the floor.

Sam wouldn't let Tara and I go as we cried for Chad. He gurgled on his own blood as he stared at us. The two killers simultaneously sweeping the blood off of their knives.

She pulled us out of the room and towards the scaffolding, I was fighting off shaky sobs as Tara was silently crying. Ghostfaces surrounded us from either side, we were trapped in the middle. Sam gave a brick to Tara and I each, the killers held their knives up as Sam looked at her family. "Ready?" We nodded as Tara shouted.

"Come on, motherfuckers!" We used our bricks as weapons, fighting off their aimed stabs, Tara had one ghostface as Sam and I fought the other. A knife plunged into my side.

Gunshots interrupted the fight as Kirby appeared, covered in blood from a gash on her head, Lexi wanted to run to her and cry, but she knew she couldn't risk it. "We know it's you!" Tara cried tearily as Kirby stared at me.

"One of them knocked me out. Dragged me in here." She told us, seemingly truthful.

Bailey appeared from behind us, his gun raised at Kirby and hers at him. "Get away from the girls!" He shouted, I trembled in fear. Kirby came down the aisle towards us as Bailey stared at her, a look full of rage and hatred. "Did you kill Quinn? Did you kill my daughter?" He shouted as I stared at him, for any sign that it was fake, he was blinking but there were no actual tears, he was making the sounds of crying but not actually releasing any tears.

My mind ran away, if I was right and Quinn was one of the killers, she would've needed help to stage her death, get rid of her body to replace with a fake one, who better than her copper father. If she was in it, so was he. "It's him." I shouted, pointing at Bailey. "He's the killer." Sam stared at me. "And I think one of them is Quinn... It's easy to fake her death, Roman did it and her dad's a cop, who better than to help?" At the point I finished my sentence, the two ghostfaces walked behind Bailey.

They stopped. "I knew it." Bailey was the ringleader.

One ghostface walked towards me and hugged me. "I am so happy, that I get to do you too. I mean, Anika, Mindy and now you? I'm a lucky son of a bitch." He spoke into the voice changer, but I knew who it was. A knife was pushed in between my ribs as I screamed, knees giving way as I collapsed in on myself, falling into it's arms.

The ghostface dumped me on the floor as he walked back to Bailey and removed the mask. "Ethan." I cried, I couldn't believed I fell for his bullshit, Amber had pretended to be my friend and Ethan pretended to like me.

"Mindy was right. It was easy to juke the roommate lottery. All I had to do to meet you was room with a conceited, condescending alpha, literally named Chad!" He laughed, boasting about how he had fooled us all. "Fuck, it felt good to kill him. And all I had to do to get into the group was to get Lexi here to open her legs, which let's be honest, wasn't too difficult." Anger radiating through my shaking body as I pulled myself up.

He held his own mask up. "This was your grandmother's mask, Sam. Nancy Loomis. Really runs in your fucking family, doesn't it Sam? And speaking of family, my names not really Ethan Landry, is it, dad?" He asked, looking at Bailey.

My theory was pretty much confirmed from Bailey and Ethan being the killers, it could only be Quinn. "Mindy?" Sam asked tearfully, I shook my head. It couldn't be, she wouldn't.

The second pulled the mask off, revealing Quinn. "But you died." Tara stuttered, Quinn laughing at us.

"I got Stu's mask. He was my favourite." She gloated as Bailey pointed from Ethan's mask to Quinn's to his own, pulled from his pocket.

"Your father's mask, Sam. This is what we've been counting down to Sam. I'm gonna need you to put it on." He smiled sadistically, staring at Sam. She looked scared, but distant, her eyes vacant but staring at the mask in his hands.

Sam slaps the mask away as Ethan lunged for her, and missed purposefully. "They still haven't figured it out!" Ethan shouted gleefully as they cornered us, circling like a lion its prey. "Maybe we overestimated them." Quinn and he laughed delightedly at the confusion on our faces.

"We didn't do the murders in Woodsbo-" Sam started but was interrupted by Bailey's maniacal laughter, cutting through the tension in the air.

He had his hands on his knees, slapping his thighs, laughing uncontrollably. "Of course you didn't!" He exclaimed as Quinn and Ethan looked on hungrily. "You think this is about that conspiracy bullshit?" He paused, staring at us. "Who do you think started those about you two?"

Quinn raised her hand laughing and smiling proudly.
