Chapter 3: Jobs, boys and mistakes
"Tera, see you at home," says Stormy, as she watches the back of her sister's head exit the store.
Stormy isn't having much luck in the job front, been to at least 20 different stores and only 10 of the stores were willing to take a copy of her resume.
Her rumbling stomach is what brought her into this quaint little restaurant. She notices a little music store just down the road and decides after she has something to eat, she will see if they would have any job vacancies.
She has always had a love for music over the years, probably due to the fact that she is always at parties and always throwing parties during high school. Perks of having loving parents' and being extremely popular. On the other hand it can be because her parents' were always forcing her and Tera to have dance and piano lessons as young children.
Stormy quickly orders herself a Steak Burger with a Banana Smoothie. She plops herself down in a booth near the window and pulls out her left over resumes. Before she left the apartment this afternoon she prints out roughly thirty copies of her resume, in the hope of handing them all out but in reality only had twenty left.
Stormy thinks to herself; I don't want to work in the food industry but its worth a try to see if they will take my resume. I will take any job I can get at this point.
The lady who serves Stormy brings over her order and says, "Here you go sweetie."
Stormy queries, "Thank you. Quick question, am I able to hand my resume in here?"
"You surely can. Resumes are always welcomed," smiles the lady.
"Well here it is," as she passes over a resume.
As the lady takes Stormy's resume, she cheerily responds, "Thank you, I will put this with all the other resumes."
With that the lady walks away and Stormy digs into her food. Her steak burger is nearly as big as the glass her banana smoothie is in. Stormy loves her steak burgers.
It doesn't take Stormy long to eat her food before she leaves; she takes her plate back up to the counter and thanks the lady for her meal once again. Stormy quickly leaves the store and heads down the road to the little music store.
While walking down to the music store, she decides to send Bailey and Tera a quick text saying: I will pick up a pizza on the way home tonight and grab the notebook. We can have a chill night and just relax. Have a d'n'm about our afternoons as well? Love you, S xxx.
Bailey replies first saying: Sure can't wait see you when you get home. <3. Then Tera writes a short reply saying: Can't wait babes, love you xx. Stormy is now facing the window of the music store, as she pulls out a resume from her bag; crosses her fingers and pushes the door open.
Stormy walks straight up to the main counter, hits the bell and says, "Anyone back there?"
Some guy from behind her says, "No but someone's right out here."
"Oh sorry, are you looking for new staff?" Asks Stormy.
"Why are you asking? Didn't you see the sign on the front window that we are hiring?" Probes the guy who works at the music store.
"Actually I didn't but with that here is my resume," as she puts her resume in front of him.
"Oh that's cute but what makes you think I will take your resume," replies the guy.
"Well let's see I know a lot more about music than you do and I'm pretty certain I could do a better job than you are," cheekily replies Stormy.
"Is that right? If you think that how about a job trial for the rest of the day?" Questions the guy as he takes her resume.
"Sure, and if I last the rest of the day you have to give me the job," announces Stormy.
"Fine but if you don't, you have to go on a date with me."
"Alright, it's a bet. I'm Stormy by the way and you are?" Inquires Stormy.
"Connor and I am actually the manager here. You didn't have to tell me your name; I can read it off your resume," replies Connor.
"Well Connor, what does that have to do with my job trial?"
"If I don't like how you act; I don't have to hire you," replies Connor.
"That's not fair, and if I don't get the job I'm not going on a date with you. I find you obnoxious."
"Well I find you hot but hey it's not up to me if we go on a date. Let's just see how you feel about me after spending half the day with me," flirts Connor.
"Dude everyone finds me hot, so where can I put my bag?"
"You can put it in the store room which is right behind the counter to the right as you go back to where the CD's are kept," as he points to where she has to go.
"Thanks I will be right back," says Stormy as she goes to the storeroom. Stormy quickly drops down her bag in the storeroom and goes back to Connor.
"What do you want me to do first boss?" Asks Stormy.
"Oh, I'm thinking of something in my head but first you can pack those cd's over there away with all the other copies," replies Connor as he points to the cd's piled on the floor.
"Are you one of them guys that picture what they want from a girl? But sure I can pack away cd's for you," replies Stormy as she walks towards the cd's.
"Stormy, let's not getting into a conversation like that right now. You have half an hour to complete the task I have delegated you," says Connor.
"Connor right? I would love to get into that conversation with you right now," winks at him, "But I have to complete the task you gave me and by the way I will have it completed in 20 minutes," as she starts to look for where they go.
Stormy arranges the cd's in alphabet order by the artist; there was only 10 CD's. The first artist she has to find where it goes is Adele and she found the spot for it in the top of the charts section. The next artist is Cody Simpson and Stormy found that his CD is in the best selling section right next to Justin Bieber, Stormy has a Justin Bieber CD so she quickly does Cody and Justin's CD's at the same time. Three CD's down only seven more to go, the next artist is David Guetta and his CD is going into the pop section.
The next cd is all French Style music that Stormy placed with all the other cultural CD's. The fifth CD is a Lily Allen and the CD has to be placed in the pop section alongside David Guetta's CD. Stormy looks at the next cd which is a Metallica CD and straightaway goes to put it in the heavy metal section. The last CD that Stormy has to put away is a CD from One Direction and the CD has to be placed in the new artists section.
To pack away all the CD's it takes Stormy roughly twenty-five minutes, as soon as she is finished she walks back over to Connor and teases, "Piece of cake, what now boss?"
"You seriously finished that in under half an hour?" Asks Connor as he looks her up and down.
"Yes I'm really finished. What do you want me to do now?"
"You can clean the counter I guess," replies Connor.
"Clean? Are you serious?" Mutters Stormy.
"Yes, clean it. With the cloth under the counter. You know how to clean right? Since you are a girl," replies Connor as he walks away to serve a customer.
Stormy mutters underneath her breath, what a douche, as she rolls her eyes and walks towards the counter to do the only job men can't comprehend doing.
She gets down underneath the counter to grab the cloth and as she is getting up she says aloud softly, "Clean, that's not what I do. Who does he think he is?"
"I'm the one who can decide if you get a job here," replies Connor.
"Sorry I just don't really clean. I may be a girl and all but cleaning isn't for me," replies Stormy as she starts to wipe down the counter.
"I bet you have a mummy and daddy to clean for you or your own personal cleaning crew," as he starts to process a sale for a customer.
"Actually my parents' died three months ago so no they don't do my cleaning for me and no I don't have a cleaning crew but that's because I can look after myself," replies Stormy as she walks away from him.
Connor quickly processes the sale and walks over towards her. He says, "Sorry I didn't know. I thought you were one of them rich girls who get mummy and daddy to do everything for them."
"I used to be one of them girl's but I learnt to do everything for myself after my parents' died and I still am a rich girl; one who gets what she wants," replies Stormy.
"Sorry to hear, if you ever want to talk I'm willing to listen. Well if you want me you can have me," says Connor.
"Thanks but I'm fine. I have my twin sister to talk too. Don't flatter yourself as I don't want you," replies Stormy nicely.
"You have a twin?" Asks Connor.
"Yes, her name is Tera."
"Oh cool, I have twin brother. His name is Oscar. He works for our dad at his law firm," says Connor.
"Oh that's awesome. I love having a twin, we used to always play tricks on our parents," replies Stormy.
"Yeah it's awesome when you can do that, we should all hang out someday?" Questions Connor.
"I guess we can one day, what do you want me to do now boss?"
"How about you just mark these cds down 25%," replies Connor as he hands her a pile of cds and points to more cds to her left.
Stormy nods and begins her job of marking down the prices. As Stormy goes to pick up another cd, they fly across the ground behind the counter. At first Connor doesn't notice the cds flying across the ground but after the fifth or sixth time he walks over to her and asks, "What are you doing flying the cds across the floor? You know that can damage them right?"
"I'm not doing it Connor."
"Alright, who's doing it? The man on the moon?" asks Connor.
"I don't know, yeah sure the man on the moon. Look I'm nearly done this pile," replies Stormy.
"Just finish on that one, I will do the rest in a moment. How about you grab the vacuum from the cleaners closest beside the storeroom and vacuum the store?" Asks Connor.
"Umm okay?" Queries Stormy as she puts the pricing gun on the ground, right next to the cds and gets up to go get the vacuum cleaner.
Stormy walks into the cleaners closet and as she opens the door, the broom falls and smashes her on the head. Stormy looks behind her to see if anyone notices what happened and with the coast clear she quickly picks up the vacuum, closes the cleaners closest and quickly walks back to the front of the store with her hand on her head.
Once back out the front of the store, she plugs the vacuum into wall and starts to vacuum around the counter area. As she is about to go around the right side of the counter, the vacuum cleaner decides to blow up; the dust goes every where over the ground and on her shoes. Stormy quickly unplugs the vacuum and looks around to find where Connor is.
Connor asks whilst he is standing behind her, "Care to explain how you broke my vacuum cleaner?"
"It's not my fault, all I was doing was vacuuming the floor and it decides to blow up. Can't blame me for it being temperamental; mustn't like being used," teases Stormy as she quickly starts to pick up the vacuum cleaner.
"Stormy, once you pack that away. Grab the dust pan and broom so you can sweep all the mess you made," as he shakes his head while walking towards a customer waiting at the counter.
Stormy rolls her eyes as she packs the vacuum away. While she looks for the dustpan and broom, all she can think about is how weird things are starting to become.
Connor walks in and states, "The dust pan and broom are right in the back of the closet. Near the garbage bin."
"Oh that's what they are," jokes Stormy as she picks them.
"Yes they are. Hurry up and clean up the mess you made."
Stormy glares at him and storms out of the storeroom, quickly cleans up as much of the dust that is over the ground and puts the dustpan and broom back where she found them. Stormy walks back out to the counter and says to Connor, "Got anything else for me to do besides cd's and cleaning?"
"How about you process this sale," replies Connor as he takes the customers cds.
"Hi, how are you today? Is this all you would like today?" Smiles Stormy to the customer.
"Good thanks, you? Yes that is all," replies the customer.
Stormy nods and scans the items on the register.
"It's been a rough day but I'm good thank you. That will be $40?" Asks Stormy.
The customer shows Stormy a credit card and Stormy queries, "Is that savings, cheque or credit?"
"Savings."
"Swipe your card, choose your account, enter your pin and press the green button at the bottom," says Stormy to the customer.
The customer does what Stormy says to do but as the sale was about to be approved the computer decides to freeze and display an error on the screen.
Stormy asks Connor, "Connor, what has happened?"
Connor looks at Stormy and asks, "I don't know, this has never happened before. What did you do now?"
Stormy replies, "I just tried to complete the transaction and the computer went like this."
"Are you sure you didn't press any other buttons?" Asks Connor.
"No I didn't touch any other buttons," replies Stormy.
"Stormy you have so far broken cds, broke the vacuum cleaner and now have done something to the computer. Care to explain yourself?" Probes Connor.
"I guess today isn't my lucky day," lies Stormy, she knew that everything is going wrong because only her powers could destroy everything she touches.
"Every one can have unlucky days but please don't have another unlucky day tomorrow on your proper first day of work," says Connor.
"Are you serious?" Gasps Stormy.
"Yes you have a job. Please wear a black shirt and pants; oh that sounded much dirtier in my head," replies Connor.
"OMG thank you," replies Stormy as she throws her arms around him in joy.
"You're welcome; you can finish now if you want to, as it is 4.30pm. I will fix up this customers transaction," replies Connor.
"Thank you, see you tomorrow. What time would you like me to start?"
"Can you start at 9am?" Asks Connor.
"Yeah sure, here is my number," replies Stormy as she gives him a piece of paper with her number on it.
Connor takes the piece of paper and asks, "Is this your real number?"
Stormy laughs and responds, "Yes it is."
Connor write his number down on a piece of paper and says as he hands it to her, "Here's mine and see you tomorrorw. Goodbye Stormy."
Stormy smiles at Connor and walks out the back to grab her bag; she grabs her bag and walks back out the front to leave her new workplace. As she walks past Connor, she gives him a little flirty wave and walks out side to head back down the street to find her car.
Stormy heads halfway down the street and finds it out front of the little restaurant where she had that amazing burger. She unlocks her car, gets inside and drives to the nearest video store to grab a copy of the notebook for the girls to watch tonight.
Stormy parks her car in the car park out front of the video store, gets out and makes her way to the doors. She walks inside the video store and looks around the store until she finds the movie: The Notebook. She picks up a copy and takes it up to the counter where a really attractive guy serves her.
"Is this all for today?" Asks the video guy.
"Yes it is," replies a flirty Stormy.
"That will be $7.95," says the guy.
"$7.95 for a rental for one night?" Curiously asks Stormy.
"Yes but I can give it to you for $5.95," replies the guy.
"Really?"
"Yes for a beautiful girl like yourself but just don't tell anyone I did this for you," replies the guy.
"Why thank you," as she pays the guy for the movie.
The guy finishes processing the rental for the movie and hands her the movie alongside with his number. Stormy laughs and says, "Goodbye," and gives him a little wave as she leaves. Stormy walks out of the video store, chucks his number in to her bag and gets back into her car. She heads off down the street to find the pizza shop that Toby told her about.
Stormy finds the pizza store at the corner of the end of the street. She scans for where she can park her car and decides to park in the car park beside the store. She quickly parks her car, texts her sister and best friend saying: Hey girls, what pizza you want?
Tera texts back saying: Supreme please babes and I will be about 30 minutes late, have a last minute errand to do for Michael.
Bailey replies back: Ham and Pineapple thanks.
Stormy walks into the pizza store and orders two pizzas, one supreme and the other ham and pineapple. The whole order came up to $34.95, which includes the two pizzas, garlic bread and a 1.25L bottle of Coke. While Stormy waits for her pizzas, she sits there playing on her iPhone.
She is addicted to playing the game fruit ninja on her iPhone. Every time Stormy looks up from her phone, she can see that the pizza guys were staring at her.
She thinks to herself: What is it with guys around here? Don't they know not to stare at me? I am fully aware how hot I am; don't need to be stared at all day long.
Twenty minutes goes past and her order is finally finished, one of the pizza guys who were staring at her brings her order to her. Stormy politely takes her order from the guy and quickly walks out to her car before the guy can ask for her number. Stormy places the pizzas, garlic bread and soft drink on the passenger seat of her car. She hops into the driver side and quickly texts her sister saying: On my way home now baby, just got the pizzas see you in 10.
Tera texts Stormy back saying: Babes, I will be home in 20. This errand is taking longer than I expected. Sorry see you @ home.
Stormy quickly looks at Tera's reply and starts on her way home. All the way home, Stormy is wondering what Tera's errand had to be. It doesn't take her long to get back to the apartment complex; she parks the car in the underground parking and heads up to her penthouse.
Stormy has been sensing that someone has been following her all day but every time she turns around nothing is behind her. Stormy jumps into the elevator and pressed the top floor button. Luckily no one else had to use the elevator tonight, because all Stormy wanted to do is get into her apartment and sit down to relax for the rest of the night.
Stormy thinks to her self; us girls should go out clubbing this Saturday night or throw a house warming party.
Finally the elevator reaches the top floor, Stormy grabs her keys out from her back pocket and opens the door to her apartment.
"Bailey, can I get some help here please?" Yells Stormy as she walks into the apartment.
"Coming Storm," as she rushes down stairs in her pyjamas.
Bailey quickly grabs a pizza and garlic bread from Stormy and places it on the island bench. Stormy places the other pizza, soft drink and DVD on to the island bench as well.
"Where is Tera?" Asks Bailey as she grabs a slice of Hawaiian pizza.
"She told me she will be late home, I'm going to go change. Can you pour me a drink please and move the pizzas and DVD over to the coffee table?" Questions Stormy as she runs up the stairs to change her clothes.
Bailey moves all the pizzas over to the coffee table in the lounge room. Stormy comes back down stairs, plunks her self down next to Bailey and texts Tera saying: Hurry up before we watch the notebook without you.
Tera texts back saying: I'm down stairs, be up soon.
"She will be up soon, she is just down stairs," says Stormy to Bailey as she was placing The Notebook into the DVD player.
Just as Stormy was about to press play, Tera walks inside and says, "Hey I don't really feel like watching the notebook tonight. Can we just talk instead?"
"Sure, how about you go get changed and then we can talk," replies Stormy as she grabs a slice of pizza.
Tera nods and walks up stairs to change into her paris themed pyjama set. Stormy takes a seat next to Bailey and starts to eat some pizza.
