6: sundown

"Give me a valid reason to not throw this sandwich in your face." My tone was mixed with hurt and anger. How could my father, whom hasn't even shown up to see me for more than ten years, make a hunter see me?

"Marina, honestly what happened last night i didn't plan." I didn't like what he said so i really did throw the sandwich on his face. Once he tried wiping the crumbs off his face I grabbed the glass of wine. Ready to swing.

"I don't care about that, why did my father sent you?"

He looked at me, his silver gaze trying to remain calm as he tried to relax his jaw. If i was irritating him, he should have a damn good idea on how I'm feeling.

"I met him a couple of years back, he was trying to look for something." He hesitated for a moment, and it only made me lose my temper more. I clenched my jaw and shifted my hold on the glass.

"Please..." I whispered to him, my voice was clearly shaking. Because honestly, I was at my limit. Ten years of not hearing a word from my father. Ten damn years that i had to put up with the constant backlashes of the sharks and family members.

"Marina, he is really sorry for leaving you behind but he's trying to deal with your mother's death." He got up from the chair and went over to my side. His hand was slowly hovering above the air aiming for my hand on the glass.

"He wasn't the only one." My voice was barely audible when his hand finally touched mine, his warmth alone giving some odd comfort.

"Marina, I'm a vampire hunter and when i heard your father's story it was understandable. Vampires in their true nature are extremely passionate creatures. They will love like no other being in the world... but they will also hate until hate becomes their true nature. Unfortunately it doesn't help that your father is one of the very older vampires alive." As i was hearing Garrett's reasoning, it wasn't really clicking in.

"So he just leaves me behind because of sorrow? I needed him..." I said my cheeks flushing bright red, i couldn't possibly vent out to this man. He lied to me, he approached me with false pretenses and I will absolutely not cry.

"He did what was in his nature to do, he loved your mother with his entire being." I yanked my hand away from his touch. My eyes were already brimming with tears and my mind was already putting up barriers.

"That's bull! Countless of beings do not leave in thin air and never come back." I stood up from the chair and just stormed out of the kitchen area. I didn't want to go back to his room knowing that he would just invade my privacy. I stepped around the living room until i was faced with a sliding door leading out to an open balcony. Hovering right above the beach shore. I looked over at the sea as the grief that i was trying to contain started to stir.

I pushed the sliding door open and stepped out. Instantly being hit with the aroma of the sea, feeling the breeze gently breathe on my skin. My hands were holding on to the rails. As i closed my eyes and let my home connect with my emotions.

"The day your mother died, your father was there with her. They were just coming up to the surface for a peace treaty. Back then there was a feud going on with the supernatural world. Ties of control and superiority were making many power hungry creatures desperate." Garrett came to stand right next to me, just when the first tear slid down my cheek.

I couldn't manage to look over at him, as much as it would help to bottle up these feelings i couldn't.

"No one really thought that a vampire could marry a mermaid let alone conceive a hybrid. A werewolf mixed up with a vampire is frown upon, but the world wasn't ready for their relationship. That night they were attacked, the attackers thought that because your father was out of 'practice'" his tone shifted a bit.

This caught my attention briefly, i looked over at him. Clearly he could tell that i didn't know what he meant by practice .

"Your father was known to be the true Blood Monster. He was known to slaughter villages. Races of supernaturals, he didn't flinch at the idea of having his hands covered in blood." My tears had slowed down as i honestly gawked at him.

"I used to think they were rumors." I whispered, thinking back at all those times sharks talked about my father. Even heard some of the help chatter about it. I just didn't really wrap my mind around the idea of a monster falling in love with my mother. She was caring and loving...

"He met your mother Marina, one sundown ago he met her and his entire life changed." I could see his body move slightly, restraining himself with whatever thought he had.

"My parents got ambushed, then what happened." I said managing to wipe away some of the remaining tears. But my chest felt tight and i knew that i hadn't shed enough tears. Not for a long shot.

"Your father did everything he could to protect your mother but she got shot in crossfire. She dies in your father's arms." His voice got lost in the sea breeze and for a moment we remained silent. I closed my eyes and let the remainder of the sunset softly kiss my skin. A few hours has passed since i last transformed into a mermaid. It was both terrifying and thrilling to not rely on my connection to the sea.

"His hate... his hurt overwhelmed him. He took off to avenge my mother's death." I concluded in a soft whisper. Vampires are truly complicated beings, but I never really had anyone to refer to. Whatever characteristics i could have from my father, are unknown to me.

"Marina, you are also in danger." i looked up once again and Garrett had managed to come closer to me. But as i looked up at his eyes, i did see genuine worry.

"Your father did not only leave because of a personal vendetta on whoever put a hit on your mother's head. But he found out that they put a hit on you as well." My heart accelerated just a bit before i regained some composure.

"Well isn't that amazing." My sarcasm was back and i just shook my head and looked back at the sea.

"I'm not going to let them hurt you." he took my hand and pulled me towards him. Stunned he gently took hold of my chin and tilted my head up. "You can't get rid of me that easily princess."

All of a sudden i could feel my heart beat drop and my senses were being heighten. His scent, his eyes they sent me to a more cannibalistic nature. I could feel my fangs spring out, as my hands ran up his chest placing my hand behind his neck.

"Do you need to feed?" His silver gaze was confused as he watched my now red haloed eyes.

"Yes." I gasped and felt his arms wrap around my waist and place me on top of the rails. Giving me a better access to his neck.

"Don't hold back." He reassured. My body didn't stop to react i pounced on him. My fangs literally sinking into his neck in a heart beat. Tasting his sweet intoxicating blood at once. He moaned as his hold got stronger around me.

The adrenaline and blood lust had mixed into one as i fed from his blood greedily. When i pulled away from him, it wasn't because i had enough. My eyes were locked to his as i ripped his shirt off. My hormones and drive the only thing that mattered as he pushed up the slip dress up my legs.

How could he reject me advances? He smashed his lips onto mine, his hand holding onto my lower back as i desperately fumbled with his pants. The kiss that tasted of him and blood was truly euphoric but as soon as i freed his member. Our eyes connected once more as he entered me.

A moan slipped my lips as i held on to him. It was all too much really, the scent of his blood mixed in with the sea. My mind had definitely gone into another world. As he rammed inside of me, i was more than willing to respond. Kissing him harder and craving much more. My lips made their way back to my bite marks. I licked and once again pierced my fangs onto his neck.

Even if it was just another blood lust induced actions, we reached our climax as the sun went down. And i still wanted more.
