Scarlet POV

I proudly smiled at the mirror like a grinning idiot.
I passed! Now i am a second year student.

I got dressed quickly on my usual top and skirt and went downstairs.

"Good morning guys " i greeted them. Max and Alex was sitting there in the dinner table.

"Morning scar. You seem happy?" Max asked me.

"Of course, from today onwards i am a second year." I said beaming with joy.

"Well done scar, on the test ." Alex congratulated me again. I saw Oliver coming though the doors.

"Olly! "I hugged him.

"You seem giddy."

"Well your sister is growing up to be quite a lady." I said with pride. Joining Alex and Max at the table. I poured a glass of water for myself.

I saw Ryan entered the room with him," I don't see a lady but a wild cat for sure ." He joked.

"Ha ha not funny." I told off Ryan in agitation. He always teases me!

The water in my hand started boiling. I immediately released it from my grasp.
I was not angry or irritated or upset with his statement. I knew he is always like that. Why my powers are acting out? Like i have no control...

Alex noticed that,"Scar are you okay?"

"Yes, don't worry." I smiled at him, hiding the glass.

They started to talk among themselves and i disposed the water down the kitchen drain. I touched the water to see how hot it was but, it felt normal to my skin. Steam was coming out of it as soon as it touched the cold surface of the sink. Of it was that much hot why didn't it effect me?

I didn't pay much mind to it and went to class with them.

On my way i saw Olivia. "Livia! " i ran upto her.

"Scar, " she hugged me," excited for new term?"

"Yes! "

We made our way to the classroom.

Today Prof. Adrian was teaching us 'Momentum Nul', which meant the part of our power we can use in our daily life without harming another. We all have different powers. And each one of us can use their power skill in small task to help others.

He took us to different places. Each student was paired up in random. For Olivia, & William he took him to the garden. She made it snow so that the winter flower plants could grow. William took the life force of the animals which cant survive. Relieving them from the pain.

Next was Max and my turn. Our location was the pool,"Max fill the pool with water from vapour present in the air. And Scarlet heat up the pool to mild warm." He told us. Max job was to manipulate the water to fill the pool. And now my job was heat the pool to a normal temperature. I tried to concentrate and put my fire energy to it. I didn't had to try even. By my one touch the water started steaming. I touched the water it was again normal to me.

"Great work scar!" Max congratulated me.

But something was not right. I could feel my powers leaking, like everything was amplified. I was feeling less like myself.

"Good, now Max check the water."

Then I remember the incident happened early morning. The water is not warm but boiling!!

"Dont go in the wa—"
I wanted to warn him but i was too later. He dipped his hand in the pool and screamed in agony. Everyone ran towards him to help. His hands had second degree burns!

No! What have i done?!

One student screamed at me,"What have you done?!"

"Yeah, she is cruel. She did it intentionally." Another said.

"No, please I didn't—"

Olivia was crying hugged Max.

I looked at my hands scared they are radiant my red fire. The more scared I became the more flames started to come out of me.

"Monster!" Someone screamed.

No... please. I didn't mean to harm him.

The pool water evaporated cause of my heat. The students started screaming and running. Mr. Adrian used his power of neutralise me. But it was not working.

What's happening to me?! I cried.

All I remember Williams jumping on me, until darkness succumb me.

I woke up. It was the infirmary. It took me a while to clear my vision.

I could hear the voices of Alex, Noah,Ryan and Olivia speaking. Olive also has a sad look his eyes.

I sat up," what's happening?"

Noah rushed to my side. "Scar! Are you okay?"

"I feel fine, just a bit weak. What happened? Where is Max? Is he okay? And what happened to William?"

"Relax... you need rest. Your not recovered yet, William took a-bit much of your force." Alex said.

I saw Olivia look at me with teary eyes.

"Please tell me what happened?!"

Alex signed and started speaking," Max and William is in the recovery room. Your fire had a devastating effect on them. Max's burn are being treated, William leaped to calm you down. He suffered the same burns." I gasped.

"What have i done?!"

"Its not your fault." The principal and head doctor came in.

"Gina. Analyse her." The Principal Mr. Ford said to the vice principal.

She nodded and her purple aura covered me.

She was done. "You were right. Its Amplified."

"As suspected..."

"What?" I don't understand anything.

"Someone has Amplified your powers." He said.

"What that's impossible!" Alex protested.

"But Sir except you, only the Council member has the power to do so." Noah said.

"Furthermore, Scarlet was with us the whole time. Nor any Council members Visited. Amplifying powers needs special permission of all the members. It was forbidden to practice without any consent." Ryan added.

"I am am aware of that but still someone has amplified scarlet. I am not sure how or who but right now we need to put extra security and on her. If she lose control her powers can be devastating for everyone. I have not amplified her so that means some else is here." he told them.

"Father what do you propose?"

"For now until we are under unable to neutralise her. I am appointing You, Alex, Noah, Ryan. To guard her. Never leave her side. Someone might be targeting her."

"Sir, please let me take care of my sister." Oliver said.

"Sorry Oliver. She is very sensitive and your not in your third years to handle such power even though your bond with her is strong. I cant risk your safety." He said and left.

I couldn't believe what all was happening. Worry came upon my face.

"Don't worry scar, we will keep you safe." Ryan said.

"Its not me i am worried about..." i said with a sad voice. I am the danger here.

I noticed Oliva who was standing beside my bed. I could see her eyes red cause of the crying.

"Noah and Ryan, we have to be Cautious. If someone is after Scarlet then they are a danger to the school too. Report any kind of suspicious activities to me." Alex said to them.

I needed to speak to Olivia.

"Guys can you give us some time." Alex nodded understanding. He left taking Oliver, Ryan and Noah with them.

I turned to Olivia," liv, let me start by apologising to you. I hurt Max and William. You must be worried for Max to see such burns cause by me... i am the worst. I am sorry liv—" she hugged me and started crying.

"No scarlet, don't be sorry you didn't mean to do it. It was not your fault. " she looked at me. "I was worried for you too silly! To see you like that! Even though your powers didn't hurt you, but you eyes screamed the pain & agony you were feeling. I do love Max and i was worried. But i love you too, your my dearest friend. Of course i will be worried!" She cried more.

I started crying too,"I am sorry liv. "

We made up with each other.

But all I could think was .

Who could do this?

And why me?
