Hi there! I'm Aanika! How are you?
I've read a book of yours. It's mind-blowing! What influenced you to write these types of books? Is there a message you try to convey to your readers?
I can't really pinpoint my inspiration to one thing, but for my book; Spring, I just wanted to try something new and it's a hobby. Writing Spring is a hobby for me because for the past few months (during the quarantine) reading boyxboy comics became my new hobby, weird right? I can't say I'm a supporter of the LGBTQ+ community but I know I'm super-cool with them. Are you gay? Okay, doesn't affect me. You transgender? Oof! Okay.
Then while I was reading one, I just started envisioning a boyxboy comic in my head, and that's when I remembered I had a Wattpad account (which I had dumped by the way). I mean, I don't have the resources to make a webtoon or comic, I can't even draw! So I came back to Wattpad to write Spring, and I enjoy it so much! And since I'm a little bit obsessed with anime and Japan, I decided to make it a Japan-themed story!
That's how Spring came to life
That is awesome!
Ikr? Many people now have interests in writing books because of this quarantine & all.
It's now a way to spend time!
Anyways moving on, What do you enjoy the most about writing? Are your characters totally made up or relate to you? How do you come up with characters & their behaviours?
Now for what I want to convey to my readers, I never really thought about that at first, because I never expected anyone to read it or love it, it was more like I was writing it for myself, for my entertainment, but now that I have readers and people who adore 'Spring'. I just want them to have an insight into my imagination, I want to write the cutest, most interesting, and non-cliche boyxboy book for the enjoyment of everyone. My intention for 'Spring' isn't serious or deep.
I just want everyone to enjoy it!!!!!
Yas! That is awesome! And it is a great book tbh.
What I enjoy most about writing Spring are the moments of YuuRei (Yuuma x Rei), it's really fun and I get giddy even when I read it myself.
Every character is made up. They are JAPANESE for Christ's sake (lol) but they are related to me in one way or the other.
How I came up with characters was easy, especially the names, Google helped a lot for that.
Now for their behaviors, that was easiest! Yuuma is just like me on my happy days, only his own happy days are every day of his life, AND I just wanted him to be lovable and sweet!
For Rei, Rei's character was inspired by 'Alexithymia'. It's a condition where a person is unable to feel emotions and understand other people's feelings. It goes side by side with a lack of empathy. I came across the term a few months ago and decided to make one of my characters possess it. I'm really excited to write about it and I hope I'll convey it properly.
Thanks!❤️ I'm ready for the next question!
Lmao! I really loved how you expressed your characters, it's beautiful! xD
Thank you!
What is one thing you find hard in writing? How do you overcome it?
The ones I find hard in writing are descriptions! I really suck at that! And I find it stressful, so most times I find a way to omit it.
I also find punctuations like the semicolon and dash hard to use, because in a way I do not understand their uses, but I use them anyways. Although I've read a lot of them, I still find it hard to put them to use when I'm writing.
I think that's all.
Oh, I totally agree! It takes so much time to think of descriptions & then frame them. Hehe, Totally xD!
What would you say is your progress as a writer?
My progress as a writer is being able to break the cliches, I just detest anything cliche that's why I'm always trying to write something new, something different. My first work was kinda cliche. It followed a lot of Wattpad tropes and along the way, I got bored and dropped the book.
Although my writing skills are still a bit immature, I've learned so far.
Of course! You are an awesome writer and you will be! Everyone improves over time:))
How did you plan the plot of your book? Was it something you faced? Was it something imagined?
It was imagined, I've never chased a crush that far like Yuuma. I seriously don't know how I planned it. The plot just came to me after the 'Alexithymia' part, and some part evolved while I was writing
Ooh, interesting! I can imagine, when you get an idea & then come up with characters, It feels so good xD...If you had the ability to go back in time and say one thing to your past self, what would it be? & Why?
I'd tell her she should have had enough confidence in herself and her abilities, she should have been grateful and content with what she had and who she was? Why? Because I'm regretting it now. I hope that answer is enough XD
Hehe, Kewll! Great! Are there any books you've read that have influenced your writing? How & why?
Not really, most of my ideas are original, but the book that made me interested in writing about mental or behavioral disorders is called 'BULLIED'.
It's no longer on Wattpad though, but as of last year, it was. The male lead in the book had BPD, it's a mental disorder you don't hear or see every day, a very special case, and the fact the writer was able to portray something as technical as that properly and making it a basis of a story is wonderful. I guess I started being more interested in disorders after reading that book, researching them is a hobby for me.
Also, 'Quirky Tales Of April Hale' a book which I also read on Wattpad influenced me in one or another, the main girl in the story had Asperger's; something related to autism and although the male lead was kinda the bad of the school, their chemistry was beautiful and weird, haha but I really enjoyed it and the book was not cliche in any way.
In a nutshell, I guess books like those above written with a unique plot sort of influenced me to write mine.
Awesome! If you could bring one of your characters to life, who would it be and why?
chuckles (a deep throat one) I can't say for sure, I feel like if I pick one I'm being partial to the rest. I love all my characters I don't want them to think I'm being biased (TT)
So if I had a chance, I'll bring all of them to life! I hope that's fair enough
Oof awesome!!! If you had to describe yourself in just 5 words what would they be and why?
Smart, Friendly, Cool, Kinda crazy, Foodie
Why? Because those are my traits! Wink wink
Hahaha! Awesome:) That's all...This is the end of the interview, Thank you so much for your time! I had a lot of fun talking to you, Have a great day...
Me too! Have a great day too! ❤️☺️
