" kaurwaki . " Ahankara's voice called out to me .

I was too busy admiring the moonlight that I didn't notice her presence beside me . I tore my gaze away from the sky to my 17 years old sister . We both are same age .
As usual she was beautiful . Her hazel eyes shone under the moonlight .

" Kaurwaki , Bhai was calling for you ."
She said to me .
" What does he want from me ? " I asked more to myself .
Ahankara chuckled , " He is again going to bring up the topic of your Marriage . Don't tell him I told you this ." She whispered the last part
I signed . When was he going to stop . I was 17 years old . People say it is right age to marry but I am still not ready for it .
" Princesses , king Virat has announced his arrival to your Chambers ." My maid said to me and I nodded .
A few moments later , my elder brother and king of Kalinga , Virat entered .

Guess this little mouse already told you the reason of my arrival here ."
He said looking at Ahankara ...... She poked her tongue at him . If our mother was here , she would have scolded Ahankara for doing that . 'very unlady like .' she would say .
I again sighed at the memory .
He sat beside me . I was now sandwiched between Ahankara and Virat Bhai .
He began , " kaurwaki , don't you think it's the right time . Beside Many kings and princes have come for your hand in Marriage ."
I kept quiet . I didn't want to talk about it .
" You know mom and dad are no more . Right now you both are my responsibilities . And it is my duty to find a perfect groom for both of you as you both have come the age . " He said .
" Hey , I thought it was only for Kaurwaki . Why are you dragging me into this Bhai ?" Ahankara acted like she was offended while on the inside she was blushing hard . Unlike me , she was looking forward to her marriage .
" I know bhai but I don't feel like marrying . I feel like there is still more out there for me and Marrying a king or prince would take away my freedom ." I reasoned to which he signed .
" You know I consider both of you as daughters rather than sisters . And I wouldn't do anything that is against your wish . So right now I'm letting go of this topic but don't take it for granted . " I smiled at him words and hugged him .
" Umm excuse me , you forget someone ." Ahan said pointing to herself . Would both chuckled and pulled her into the hug .
Our solace was interrupted by the war bell . The gong rang loudly making my body fill with fear . Another war was happening and this we were not prepared .
I looked at my brother to see him alert .
" You both stay here and under no circumstances come out ." We both nodded . With that he was out of the door .
I looked at Ahan as she moved closer to me and held my hand . She was still scared of Wars After what happened
Two years ago . It was on a night like this our parents died fighting a war . Since then Ahankara was always scared whenever the bell rang .
I could see that she was shivering.
" Ahankara , I'm here for you . Don't be scared ." I consoled her and she nodded . She was my everything .
" Kaur , I have a bad feeling about this ." She whispered and I couldn't help but nod my head . I too felt it .
Hours went by and we both stood in that position praying to God that nothing goes wrong . I wanted to go out and fight alongside my brother but women were limited to the household . I lived in a wired society where women were expected to please their husbands and look after their households and I couldn't do anything about it .
Almost immediately the door of my Chambers was banged open . Soldiers from another kingdom entered . They were coming to get us .
Ahankara's hold in my hand tightened . How I wish I had a sword right now . But I was defenceless here .
They stalked towards us . I knew they are here for blood and I was not ready to give them the satisfaction .
I looked around the room . I spotted my mirror . I broke it with my hand and took the pieces and aimed at the soldiers . They laughed . What could a mere piece of glass and two women do to five trained soldiers.
My hand bled as the glass pieces pierced my skin . I stood in front of Ahankara not giving them the view of her . Their eyes were taking over our bodies and I couldn't help but be disgusted .
" Stay away ." I said .
They all once again laughed .
" Come on princess . We all know that you can't escape from us . It's time for your death now ." One of them said while the other laughed .
" Well we couldn't let this two pretty things die . Maybe we could have a taste of their bodies before we kill them " Another man said .
" I'll definitely take the this first one . She looks ravishing ." A man laughed out eyeing me like ba prey . My blood boiled and anger built inside me .
I threw the glass pieces right at the man who just said that . It went right at his throat and sliced it . Blood oozed out of his throat as he took his last breath and fell down to the ground .
The others were startled and they all charged towards us .
Ahankara hugged me with fear . I knew I had no chance against them right now . So I too closed my eyes waiting for my death .
" What is going on here ?" A demanding voice asked from the door and I opened my eyes to see the man .......
