"What's got you so chipper?" Will asked Sam as she practically skipped into the kitchen the next morning. She took the half eaten slice of cold pizza from his hand and took a bite.
"I don't know what you are talking about." She shrugged. "You going to school today?" She asked.
"Nah, I got other things to take care of." Will said. "You'll have the house to yourself after school I'm going to Killian's"
Sam frowned. "Because I just love sitting here all alone." She mumbled. "Can't I come to Killian's with you?" She asked.
"We're just going to be drinking and watching the game Sam, not really your thing.
"I'll stay out of the way I just don't want to sit here alone. Please?" She asked and pouted at him. Will sighed and rolled his eyes.
"Bloody hell.. Fine.Just stay out of the booze."
"Why? You are underage too and Robin tried to give me a beer yesterday." Sam said and crossed her arms.
"Because I said so and i'm in charge." Will smirked.
"You just wish you were in charge." Sam mumbed and picked up her backpack.
"Can you at least take me to school? It's raining."
"Sure. can't have you getting sick." Will smiled and ruffled his sisters hair.
"Will!" she whined and put her hair back into place.
If it wasn't for the fact the Sam actually wanted to do something with her life, she would probably follow in her brothers footsteps and avoid school all together but she wanted to be able to rely on herself someday. She didn't want to have to depend on Will for everything even if he was used to it by now. The only thing besides the chance of getting out of this town someday that made school worth attending was that she got to see Killian every day because unlike her brother, Killian actually showed up to school. Probably because his brother Liam made him, like her brother, Killian was no stranger to trouble, he was hot tempered and often ended up in a fight with someone and he basically just came to school to flirt and make out with girls behind the bleachers. So why on earth of all the guys to have a crush on did Sam have to have one on him? Most importantly, was he serious about last night? Or was she just another girl to mark off the mile long list?
"Hey Sammi." She heard Killian say before his arm was thrown around her shoulders. She looked up at him and smiled sheepishly.
"Hi." She she quietly. Killian just smirked and lead her into the school and for the first time, Sam felt all eyes on her.
"Why is everyone looking at me?" She whispered.
"Aye, that would be because you are with me."
"With you?" Sam asked.
"I mean if that's what you want." Killian shrugged as if it was no big deal, but to Sam he might as well have hit her in the chest with a sack of bricks.
"Oh. Uh.. Well.." She stuttered out before a blonde stormed over.
Emma. Freaking. Swan. Killians latest conquest Great..
"Killian what the hell is this?!" Emma demanded and glared at Sam.
"I.. Uh.. I didn't know." Sam said and wiggled her way out from under Killians arm, which didn't work for him, he pulled her right back in leaving no room for an escape.
"I told you, we were done Swan." Killian shrugged. Emma just laughed.
"You can't be serious." She said and scoffed.
"As a heart attack." Killian smirked. Emma turned her glare back to Sam.
"I hope you know what you are getting with him. Once he gets what he wants, you'll be tossed aside to." Emma said.
"We..we're no-" Sam couldn't even get the sentence out before Emma rolled her eyes turning back to Killian.
"This isn't over." She said and pushed her way past him. Killian chuckled and looked down at Sam who was staring at the floor. This isn't what she wanted not like this.
"What's wrong love?" Killian asked. Sam pushed his arm off of her shoulders again.
"As I said, Killian... I am not your type." She muttered and walked away from him.
"Sammi wait!" Killian hollered after her but she ducked down the hallway quickly to avoid him. For years she wanted this. She wanted him to look at her like he did all those other girls. She wanted him to want her, but this was not what she expected. She realized now she didn't want him to look at her like all the other girls, she wanted him to look at her like she was the only girl, and she most certainly did not want to be used as a decoy to make Emma jealous. she was better than that, and if he didn't see that, then he didn't deserve her. Sam knew her worth, whether or not anyone else did.
Killian was putting books in his locker between classes when Robin approached him.
"Please tell me the rumours are not true."
"What rumours?" Killian asked and shut his locker.
"Will's sister mate.." Robin sighed. Killian shrugged.
"What of it?" He asked.
"Will is going to gut you like a bloody fish! That's what's of it!" Robin hissed. "Or do you not remember what he did to Graham just for looking at her?"
Killian rolled his eyes.
"Sammi's a big girl, she can make her own choices and she did, well kind of." Killian shrugged.
"What do you mean?" Robin asked.
"She insists that she is not my type."
"She's not wrong Killian. She's quiet, and shy. A far cry from the girls you normally go for."
"Aye, indeed she is. But you know me I like a challenge."
Robin sighed.
"Look, I love ya mate, but this isn't any other girl if you want someone to fuck around with, stick with Emma. But don't you do this to Sam. She is not just a notch in your bedpost and if you hurt her, It's not just going to be Will you have to worry about." Robin warned.
Killian smirked. "I have no intentions of hurting the lass Robin. However maybe just for now we don't mention it to Will?"
"He's your best friend Killian, this goes against every best friend code ever."
"Look, Robin, I actually like her. Okay? I don't want to mess this up and if Will knows he's going to stop it before I even have a chance." Killian sighed.
"You actually like her? This isn't just one of your games?" Robin asked.
"Aye, afraid not. Samantha Scarlet is not like other girls and I like that. She's going to make me work for it and for once I'm willing to. I will talk to Will when the time is right, I promise." Killian smiled. Robin sighed and nodded.
"Fine. I won't say anything, but it's your funeral mate." Robin said and pat Killian on the shoulder before walking away.
Sam made her way down the hallway at the end of school, she had planned to go by Killians locker and at least tell him what it was she wanted and if he was willing to do it, so be it, if he just expected a quick bang then she would decline and try her best to move on. She rounded the corner towards Killians locker and stopped dead in her tracks. Emma was leaning up against Killian's locker and Killian stood in front of her with that stupid smirk on his face that she absolutely loved. He had one hand above Emma's head and the other twirling her perfect golden locks in his fingers. Clearly she had made the right choice earlier and she was an idiot to think Killian saw her as anymore than a quick fuck. Her eyes welled. Emma looked over and then looked at Killian and nodded her head to the side in Sam's direction. Killian looked up at Sam. "Fuck." He sighed. "Sammi just wait a second." He said. Sam turned around and started making her way for the exit. Killian followed her.
"Sammi stop." He said. Sam turned around.
"Why should I?" She asked with tears in her eyes. "You sure do bounce back bloody fast." She said.
"Sam that wasn't what you think."
"Killian cut the bullshit. I know that look you were giving her because I have watched you give that look to every girl in this school and hoped that someday you'd look at me like that. That you would actually fucking notice me. But now I know that's not what I wanted at all because this? What I'm feeling right now.. It sucks."
"I'm sorry okay? I have problems Sam but you make me want to be a better person."
"Oh and you are just working so damn hard at that aren't you?" Sam asked. "Leave me alone Killian. I'm not one of these whores."
"I know you aren't Sammi. I know you aren't like them that's why I like you!" Killian sighed. Sam saw Will's car pull up and went quiet even though part of her wanted Will to tear Killian's head off, she still liked him just enough to not want him to be hurt.
"I have to go.." She muttered and walked away from him again.
Killian sighed and ran his hands through his hair. Emma walked up behind him and wrapped her arms around him. Killian pulled away.
"Stop." He said.
Stop what? You like it when I do this." She smiled at him.
"Yeah well not anymore." Killian grumbled.
"Come on Killian, we can go back to my place." Emma smirked and bit her lip.
"Will you just fuck off Swan?!" Killian shouted. Emma looked taken aback by his tone.
"Really? Over the sophomore?" She snorted.
"I said fuck off." Killian glared. Emma put her hands up.
"Fine, but you know this isn't over Jones. She's too good for you. She won't give you what you want." Emma scoffed before walking away.
"Whats wrong with you?" Will asked as Sam got into the car.
"Nothing, I just want to go home." "I thought you wanted to come over to Killian's with me." "Nah I don't feel well. I'd rather stay home tonight." Sam shrugged.
"Well.. about that.." Will sighed. At that point Sam noticed the duffle bags in the back of the car and sighed.
"What happened?" She asked.
"The electric got cut off. I just got a job, so I'm going to fix it. Okay? I promise." Will said.
"So what are we doing until then?" Sam asked.
"We are staying with Killian and Liam, I'll bunk with Killian, and Liam has a spare room for you." "No.. Will, I'll call Gina, her parents will let me stay until the electric is back on."
"No, because then I can't keep an eye on you." Will said.
"Will I'm 16 you don't need to keep an eye on me!" Sam protested.
"You know that I do." Will argued. "It's not up for discussion." Will said.
"Fine, I'll call mum and Dad they will clear it for me to stay with Gina." Sam shrugged and looked at her brother realizing she had said the wrong thing. He was angry she could see it in his eyes. "Do you honestly think they give a bloody damn about you Sam? About either of us?!" He demanded.
"They do.." Sam replied softly with hope in her tone.
"You are so fucking naive." Will sighed. "If they cared do you not think they would be here?" He asked. "Look around Sam! It's me and you! They may not care, but I sure as hell do and I am trying my best!"
"Stop yelling.." Sam said softly. "I hate it when you do this."
"You are coming with me. End of discussion, am I clear?" Will asked. Sam just nodded.
"Okay. Fine." She said and looked out the window at Killian. This was about to get incredibly complicated.
