Chapter Ten
~~~~~~~~
I'm so tired of being here, suppressed by all my childish fears, if you had to leave, I'd wish that you'd would just leave, but your presence still lingers here, and it won't leave me alone! These wounds won't seem to heal, the pain is just too real
Me and Henry is standing outside the red door, awaiting our future. Neither of us speak, staring at the door, on the base of the concrete stairs.
Kayla Johnson could be dead, she could've moved. I only found her residents in an old yellow phone book. My thoughts raced imediately of all the possibilities that could be there, even though I shouldn't do the "what if"s and more on just do the fucking thing and get over it.
I took a shaky breath and walked up the stairs, one by one, and finally met the door.
My knuckles gently knocked like a coin hitting the floor a couple times.
My breath was held as I was dressed in a short skirt and a blouse and Henry dressed in a button up shirt and jeans.
I heard foot steps coming near the door, click clack, click clack.
An African American beautiful woman presented in my eyes. She had a red poka dots on a red dress that went a bit pass her knees and her eyes met mine, concerned. She looked like she is in her thirty's, but not pass it. It gives me a relief that there is a chance it may be her...or her daughter and she might be fully six feet under ground and me bringing it up wil-
"Who are you?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Love of mine, someday you will die, but I'll be close behind,I'll follow you into the dark, no blinding light or tunnels to Gates of white, just our hands clasped so tight waiting for the hint of a spark
If Heaven and hell decide that they are both are satisfied, illuminate the "no"s on their vacancy signs, if there's no one besides you when your soul embarks, then I'll follow you into the dark

We sat on her cream couch, fidgeting all together.
"Mrs. Johnson, do you know anything about the murder accident a...er, years ago?" I asked, my throat still parch from meeting her.
"Why ask dear?" She said in a slight defensive way.
I tried to stay calm as I held my breath and explained, well, more on end, lie.
"I have a short project to get in this college and my topic I chose was this murder." I said in a chill way as I could possibly ever.
She moved in the position she sat only a slight bit, getting a bit more comfortable and confident. She took a deep breath and looked at me with a sad, gentle smile that felt tugged on.
"Yes, well, I used to be...."
-
I looked over at my partner, Sammy Uris, who was tapping on the steering wheel, anxious about the call we got.
As we finally got to the plain house that lacks a paint job, it seems fine, on the outside. I just hoped to the Lord that it was just a April's fool prank or so, even though it is a bit too far for sheriff to send us to a strangers house for a murder as a prank.
I took my seat belt off and closed my eyes for a few seconds, hoping it wouldn't be as bad as I have it pictured in my mind.
Maybe my imagination is very wild and just jumping to conclusions here. Maybe not, and that's the worse part of it.
I grabbed my husband's hand, soft and fair skin, and held it for a second, weighing this situation.
"Let's do this dear.." he said, reassuring it won't be as bad as I think, and kissed me on the forehead.
We got out of the car as the sun smiled down at us, with a happy expression, when I think it should be cloudy and rainy for this day.
Stupid fuckin weather and horrid people. Always not cooperating.
I knocked on the door, as gently as I could and waited for a response.
I had
(No response, which feared me)
To knock again, a bit rougher this time, and putting my head to the door, to try to hear movement. To my suprise, there was, muffled whispers and shuffling before more audio-able foot steps approached.
I moved quickly to get into a more formal state, ready to face the person behind the door, carefully placing my hand where my gun is.
The door creaked open slowly and showed the person in the robe.
"Hello." Their voices cracked, like they had sobbed or threw up all night and day. They look tired and had red eyes, as if they cried their hearts out, but fully couldn't because of their sadness in their eyes that I filled with sorrow.
"Hello, I am officer Johnson with my husband, and we are here to investigate, by the law we are allowed to search through everything and such."
They nodded, like a depressed bobbled head and let me in easily.
As I was in charged of the upstairs, Sammy stayed downstairs and gave them breathalyzers and made sure they weren't on anything, and did a huge search for any drugs or so in house that could be illegal or set them off to do anything as horrid as I was about to see.
I open the door to one room, a bathroom, before stepping in and looking around. It was a tiled floor, grimed with mold and dirt. I cringed at it and pulled the curtain to the shower, trying to get it off of my mind. The shower was as dirty as the floor it seemed, and contained bottles of shampoo, etc. I still checked every single one to make fucking sure their wasn't anything. I even checked the drain.
Even innocent looking people can be actually the ones that did it. Any little thing could easily go under your nose and they can get away with it. Anything to hide the evidence.
I checked every single fucking speck of that room before doing it for the next three rooms down the hallway till I faced the last one. The one that made me gulp and open the door slowly.
Blood everywhere. Blood on the carpet, walls, windows, every inch, nook and cranny, their was warm red blood. Even some blood dripping from the ceiling like rain, slowly, as it was a spider using it's web to go down from a high point. The blood filled my senses and gave me a sick feeling as it is all I could see. Such a horrid color that was painted on these walls.
The sickest person must've came into this house as guts were ripped ripped from the body and was hung from place to place. A lung on the floor, limp and still, intestines hanged like Christmas lights. The eyes that were carved out, tied together, and on the dresser. Organs were just not where they were supposed to be, in the poor body that is now fully hollow and limp. Poor little six year old, ripped right out of reality.
I shuttered as I grabbed my black walkie talkie.
"Chief, Sargent Johnson, on duty, there is a hell of a blood bath, we need back up sir." I said before pausing. Waiting for a response before coolingly getting one.
"Sargent Johnson, chief is here, you will be getting assistance in a sort while, repeat, you will be getting assistance in a short while."
I forced my eyes closed for a second before I had a verge of a breakdown and close the door swiftly when I open my eyes again.
I tried to walk downstairs and tried to remain calm as I saw Sammy seating them down. Assuring them it will be okay.
I walked near them all and open my mouth hesitantly.
"Excuse me, but we will have to interrogated in a huge serious matter in this, and we will be planning to have you leave and stay in touch while you stay with family or so." I said, trying not to mention the blood bath of it all.
They smiled like nothing, a real smile at me. It made me a feeling of something weird is going on, but nothing came to my lips to escape and ask why are they so damn heartedly and happy to hear that? Like, not even shocked at hearing death...
A few days later, after the case was closed and the house was clean and they settled back in, I was sitting on the couch with Sammy.
"Honey, do you think something was off...during that investigation?" I asked as he held me in his arms, giving me a warm feeling.
"Why, yes, I felt it too. They weren't upset about the whole situation and their eyes were just red, not even puffy. Not a single drop off drugs. I felt a wierd way dear, so strange near them." He said, giving my shoulder a tiny rub, trying to calm us both down.
The couch felt like a boat in the tiny, but huge room that gives me paroniod feeling now and then.
Ever since then, I try to forget it fully, and let the Lord figure it out. I just hope whoever did it get a hell's tickets for the horrid shit he has done.
-
"And that's what happen dear." Mrs. Johnson said, taking a sip from her tea cup.
"Are you still a cop?" I said, filled with questions.
"No, not anymore, I'm a security guard for people now, I couldn't handle that any longer." She said honestly and I nodded.
"Mrs. Johnson, who were 'they'?" I asked, ignoring Henry's stare of "don't fucking push our luck".
"I'm sorry, that's confidential and I'm not allowed to give out information like that, if you want, you could find it in a magazine or so. That's all. This is a small town, and what stays in the town, stays. The past is the past anyways dear." Kayla says.
I sighed stressfully and nodded at the woman.
"Yes, yes." I responded, going into thought and trying to peice together this huge puzzle piece.
"Thank you for your time, I really appreciate it." I said, showing a smile.
She smiled a wonderful smile and laughed a tiny bit, "no problem, school is important."
~~~
She walked us to the door and we began to walk down her porch as she closed the door
"Henry, m-
