4. Killing Loneliness
I'm Killing Loneliness with you.
The two stepped into the cafe, and Aria realized that Ville was visibly worried about her, but trying to hide it.
She had initially thought that he was uncomfortable talking about what she had been through, since he had only apologized to her.
Not that she was expecting anything else, but she knew she shouldn't have brought it up so soon.
When The two of them sat down at a table, however, he began to ask her questions.
He seemed hesitant to ask, but he did.
"What did your father do to you?" He Asked, his deep voice full of empathy.
She looked down, playing with her hands a bit. "Growing up, my dad always beat my mom...when I turned 14, he started to do the same to me. It was usually daily, and he was always drunk." She Said quietly. "I still have scars from the things he did, and I ended up in the hospital twice. My my mom always stayed with him. She loved him.."
As she spoke, he just watched her, looking her straight in the eyes with his piercing green eyes, nodding occasionally.
"I understand why you moved away." He Said after she finished. He reached over, holding her hands in his. "I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that."
She looked down, blushing a bit from his touch. "I'm just glad to be away from it."
He nodded, looking at her hand a little, seeing a small imperfection, which he guessed was one of the scars. He brushed his finger over it gently, then looked up into her blue eyes.
A waitress walked over, and Aria averted her eyes from Ville's.
"What can I get you?" The waitress asked, a heavy Finnish accent making itself present in her voice.
Ville Said something in Finnish, and Aria looked at him in confusion.
The waitress nodded, then walked away.
Aria laughed awkwardly. "What'd you order?"
"You'll see." He said, winking a little.
She sighed jokingly. "I wish I knew Finnish.." she mumbled. "I only know the common conversational words."
"Maybe I can teach you." He said, smiling a little.
"You'd do that?" She laughed a little.
"If we'll be friends, of course." He said.
She smiled. "Aren't we already?"
He opened his mouth to speak, but was interrupted by a mug getting set in front of him.
The waitress smiled at them both, setting down a mug in front of Aria as well.
She walked away, and aria looked at her drink.
In the coffee, there was cream swirled in the shape of a heartagram.
"Oh my gosh.." she said. "How..?"
"She's talented, yeah?"
"Yeah.." Aria laughed.
He lifted up his mug, taking a sip, and Aria did as well.
Her eyes widened. "That's good!" She Exclaimed. "What is it?"
"It's a special mix of coffee the waitress here came up with." He said, then smirked a little. "Don't look at me like that, I don't know what it is."
She laughed, taking another sip.
"So, Aria," he said. "May I ask when your birthday is?"
She laughed a little. "Um...December first, 1980."
"Mmm." He hummed, nodding. "You're four years younger than I am."
She nodded. "Can I ask you a question?"
"Go ahead." He said.
"What's your middle name?"
"What's your middle name?" He asked, smirking a little.
"Hey, Valo, I Asked first."
He laughed a little, then looked to his side. "Hermanni."
"Hermanni? Interesting.." she said.
"Yours?" He asked, looking back at her.
"Ugh.." she groaned. "It's bad."
"It can't be so bad."
"It is." She mumbled, sighing. "It's...Beatrice."
He furrowed his eyebrows. "Beatrice?" He asked.
She nodded.
He laughed a little. "That's not a bad middle name, love."
"I just don't like the way it sounds with my first name." She Said, shaking her head a little while taking another sip of her coffee.
"You have a beautiful name." He said, taking a sip of his as well.
The two gazed into each other's eyes, and a smile grew on Ville's face. Aria smiled back, lifting up her mug for another sip.
A couple hours later, the two had talked about nearly everything under the sun, but Ville again had to leave.
He gave Aria another tight hug, before getting her a taxi so she could get home safely.
Once she got home, she tossed herself on her bed, sighing dreamily.
He was really great, wasn't he?
She immediately picked up her phone, and, through she knew she'd regret it, she called Chloe.
Chloe answered after a couple of rings, already excited.
"You didn't answer my calls all day!" She Exclaimed. "Was it Ville? Tell me everything."
Aria laughed. "Yes, Chloe, it was Ville." She Said, smiling. "He took me out for coffee."
"Awww, that's so cute! Are you guys dating?" She Asked, clearly unable to contain her excitement.
"Hold your horses, Chloe." Aria chuckled. "We just talked and stuff. We're only friends."
Chloe sighed dramatically. "Come on, Aria. He clearly doesn't just want to be friends."
"Anyways," Aria said, looking for something to change the subject with. "We talked a little. You know, one of the other waitresses there makes really good coffee, and she puts the cream in the top to look like a heartagram."
"Cool.." Chloe Said. "Listen, I've gotta go, Aria. Talk later? And tell me more about Ville.."
"Yeah." Aria said. "Love you, Chloe."
"Love you, too, Ari."
Chloe hung up, and Aria threw herself back on the bed.
Ville did just want to be friends, right?
