10. The Path
Little to Aria's knowledge, Ville actually didn't have a driver's license.
So the two of them ended up just walking. Thankfully, Ville's tower wasn't terribly far, but it was incredibly cold.
As they walked, Aria got a shiver, and began rubbing her arms in an attempt to warm herself.
"Are you alright, kulta?" Ville Asked, looking over at Aria.
"Er...yeah," She Said. "Just cold."
"Oh," he said, nodding a bit. "Here."
He wrapped his arm around her, pulling her to his side.
"Perhaps some of my heat will warm you?" He asked.
She smiled, nodding. "Perhaps." She Said.
He smiled back at her, chuckling a little.
Aria hesitated, then laid her head on his shoulder.
Ville looked down, a feeling overcoming him. All he felt was pure love for her, though they had only met less than a week ago. He was moving too fast, wasn't he? He should just pace himself. He didn't want to scare her away.
The two came upon a forest area, with a gate outside of it. Inside the gate, there was a long path, which Aria guessed led to Ville's tower.
Ville pulled a set of keys from his pocket, flipping through them, then finally walking over and unlocking the deadbolt on the gate.
He opened up the gate, then looked over at Aria, smiling. "Ladies first."
"Thank you." She smiled back, then stepped through the doors.
Ville walked behind her, then closed the doors, locking them again.
He slipped his keys back in his pocket, then returned to her side, wrapping his arm around her as they both began to walk down the path.
They both walked in silence, and Aria laid her head on Ville's shoulder again. He looked down at her, smiling a little as he gave her a loving squeeze.
"There it is." He said, looking up at his tower.
Aria looked up, her mouth falling open in shock.
"What do you think?" He asked.
"You live there?" She Asked, looking at him.
"I do." He said, chuckling a little.
The two of them stepped up to the door, where Ville reluctantly let go of Aria again, grabbing his keys.
He unlocked the door, then opened it for her, smiling a bit.
She walked inside, and Ville came in behind her, shutting the door.
He switched on the light, and Aria looked around, taking everything in.
His style seemed a lot like hers. Modern, yet still somehow incredibly gothic. He had various trinkets and things sitting on the tables and fireplace, and a few records hanging up on his walls, along with a guitar.
"May I get your coat, love?" Ville Asked, coming up behind her and placing his chin on her shoulder as he looked at her.
She laughed a little, then nodded. "Yes, Please."
She unzipped her coat, and he helped her pull it off, before going over and hanging it up. As he took off his own coat, she pulled off her gloves, hat, and scarf, then unzipped her purse and slipped them in.
She rubbed her cold hands together, looking around some more.
"I love your house." She Said, looking over at Ville, who had taken off his hat and was running his fingers through his hair.
He laughed a bit. "It's a mess." He said, slipping his hat back on, then pulling on a few curls to make sure they hung out.
"My house is a mess." She mumbled. "All full of boxes.."
"That's because you've just moved in, love." He said. "I, however, am a hoarder."
She laughed. "I wouldn't go that far."
"I would." Ville chuckled.
He walked into the living room, kneeling down by the fireplace.
"You can come sit down, dear," he said. "I'll start a fire."
She smiled, mumbling a small 'Thank you' as she sat down on one of the plush couches.
Ville placed some wood in the fireplace, then picked up a lighter from the mantel. It took a few tries, but finally, the wood caught the flame.
Ville stood up, putting the lighter back on the mantel, before walking over and sitting next to Aria.
It was silent as the two just watched the fire, a bit of space between them.
"Aria?" Ville broke the silence.
Aria looked over at him.
"Are you hungry?" He asked. "Or thirsty?"
Aria bit her lip. "A little thirsty." She mumbled, smiling a little.
Ville smiled back a bit. "I'll get you some water."
Ville stood, walking over into the kitchen, then Aria looked back at the fire, gazing into it, as she let out a soft sigh.
Suddenly, a loud crashing noise came from the kitchen, making Aria look up worriedly.
"Vittu.." she heard Ville growl.
She stood, walking into the kitchen, seeing Ville kneeling down in the floor, quickly picking up the pieces of a broken beer bottle.
"Do you need help?" She Asked, kneeling down next to him.
"Um...no." He said, looking up at her. "You can go sit back down."
"Really, I don't mind.." she said, reaching over and picking up a few of the pieces.
As she helped him pick the glass shards up, she began to wonder why Ville seemed so uncomfortable, even embarrassed.
Then she looked up at the open fridge.
She couldn't help but stare when she noticed that it was chockfull of alcohol. It looked just like her dad's fridge back home, possibly worse.
Ville noticed her looking, and quickly jumped to his feet, shutting the fridge.
"I think that's all.." he mumbled. "Thank you."
She stood, watching as he dumped the glass from his hands into a nearby trashcan. He lifted it up, holding it out for her as she did the same.
While he put it back, Aria glanced to her side, her mind swirling with millions of thoughts and questions.
He was exactly like her dad, wasn't he? She shouldn't have trusted him so soon.
"Aria." She heard his deep voice, and turned her head.
Ville smiled a little, holding up a glass of water.
"Oh, thank you." She Said, taking it from him.
"Shall we go back out to the couch?"
Aria swallowed, nodding.
Had she made a huge mistake trusting this stranger?
