Epilogue

E P I L O G U E

"For the last time! I told you that Lady Hannah Snow and Lord Thierry Descourdes went out to visit the House of the Shapeshifters!" The werewolf exclaimed. She dropped the call and breathed heavily, frustrated.

A doorbell rang. Lupe groaned as she descended the stairs and headed towards the front door. The other Daybreakers were doing their tasks while she was left to guard the mansion. There were others with her inside, but even they were slacking off from their duties.

"I swear, if Lord Thierry finds out about this!" She cursed at the empty hall. She turned her attention to the front door and opened it widely, only to find an oddly matched pair in their tattered clothes. "Who are you-"

Lupe immediately transformed when she saw that the girl was with a dragon. It was only her mistake to lunge at the girl first because a force so dark hit her hard that her body slammed into the staircase. The loud sounds of fireworks, the scent of faded electricity, and wood splinters were enough for the other Daybreakers to run towards the hallway and confront them.

Rashel cradled Lupe's head. She made sure that the trusted servant of Thierry was still breathing. "Just stay still, Lupe. We're already here," she told her. Lupe whimpered. Quinn gritted his teeth and readied himself. He glared at the couple in front of them.

Falkien cautioned ahead, staying back. "If you touch her, you die." The dragon warned the several creatures-vampires, shapeshifters, and hunters alike. One woman with black hair and gray eyes stared at the human girl beside him. The girl stared back. Her fingers were curled over the dragon's hand as if she was ready to die with him.

Before all of them decided to attack them all at once, Raksha Keller, the infamous Dragonslayer, stopped them. "Wait-" and she looked at the two once again. "You two are soulmates?"

"That's not possible." The blonde man's step was slightly limped. His intense gray eyes focused on the pair in front of him. "Dragons are too evil for someone to even withstand their presence."

"Well, I'm pretty sure that Old Souls are the only unlucky ones to not have it." The blonde vampire's eyes shifted from blue to violet in an instant. The dragon glared at him. "No offense, Hugh."

The one called Hugh narrowed his eyes in response. "None taken, Ash."

"So would you kindly answer our question or do we have to force it out on you?" A childish voice asked. Maggie Neely glared at them. Another vampire, one with aristocratic features, rested an arm protectively around her shoulder. "And what is your purpose for coming here?" Delos questioned them next.

Falkien nodded his head at the girl beside her. The girl nodded her head back. She glanced at all of them. A frown formed on her face. She was disappointed in the way they treated the people who wanted to help them. I really can't believe that this is the very organization that will help humans fight the millennium that's coming, she thought.

Falkien couldn't hide his chuckle. Angry eyes locked on him immediately. He ignored their stares as he smiled at her. They are a bit cocky. No different than Hunter himself.

"You're right."

The girl dropped the telepathic contact and stepped boldly towards them. Falkien wished she hadn't stopped holding his hand though. Her hair, a swirling tentacle of black, flowed with the wind. Her cocoa skin glimmered in the sunlight behind her.

What made the others prevent themselves from speaking any further was the way the girl looked at each of them. All were immediately drawn by the color of her eyes. Indeed, a Hearth-Woman flowed through her veins. She was in the same line as Thea, Gillian, Illiana, and a few others of her witch kind.

Her lips parted to speak the truth. "We have come to help you fight the end of the world."
