lol The real last chapter
♡♡♡LEO♡♡♡
Leo was excited to see Nico again. He didn't see Nico for years and that kinda might have been his fault.
Seven years without contact well except his wedding and the day his kids were born.
He felt guilty. He had abandoned Nico.
But he had an explanation.
He was busy. Busy with his job. Busy with his kids. Busy with his wife. He didn't have the time. He would've visited if he did have the time. Now he did have time and he was coming to visit. Alone.
He was driving towards the camp. The smile on his face had no trace of disappearing, little did he know what was about to surprise him when he arrives.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Leo knocked on the cabin door, expecting Nico's polite but dark greeting before coming to open the door. But no one responded. It had shocked Leo. Nico would never leave the cabin unattended but if Nico was really needed and had to leave the cabin when Leo wasn't there, he would leave a zombie or ghost or something anything just not to leave the cabin unattended. Leo knocked again. And again no one answered.
This was scaring Leo. It was so unlike Nico. The son of Hermes frantically knocked the door. No answer.
Leo had given up on the door. He was scared now. Did something happen in the last seven years? Something that he hadn't known about?
He went around the house and checked the window to his old room. The window was locked. Sometimes being a son of Hermes has it's perks. Like opening a window lock but it also has it's disadvantages like how he can't unlock a locked door. It would have been easier if he that power.
Grumbling to himself, Leo entered his small window. He crashed in, face first, due to his lack of balance. He grumbled again as he brushed himself off. Once he was done, he looked around. A wave of nostalgia hit him hard. His room was untouched. Well that explained the dust that sprang up when he crashed in.
He didn't stay for too long in his room. Something might have been happening to Nico and he was right there in a trance with all his memories.
He walked into all the rooms. The kitchen. The living room. Their small weapon room. The library (though it was just a small room filled with books). All except Nico's room.
He was nervous. Nico possibly might be there and Leo was scared to know what awaits him in that room.
He gripped the door knob lightly and opened the door. There was Nico on his bed. He wasn't moving.
Leo ran over to Nico. He held the italian's hand in his. His hands were icy cold. They weren't supposed to be this cold. Leo was panicking by now. He tried to search for Nico's pulse. None was to be found.
"Nico. Nico. Please. You got to be pranking me?" Leo stammered out, carrying Nico bridal style and running into the woods towards camp. Silent tears were running through his eyes.
"Help! Anybody!" He screamed as he entered the camp borders. Familiar faces came to greet him, most of them were Nico's friends. They were all looking at him with shocked but saddened faces.
"So... it finally got to him" Uncle Jason said, depressedly. Tears running out of his eyes as Aunt Piper tried to be strong for him.
Leo had this sinking feeling that he knew just what happened to Nico. But that can't be. Leo was sure of it.
"What got to him?! What happened to him?!" Leo screamed, gripping the son of Hades closer to him. The crowd grew bigger but he didn't care.
Leo was crying. He didn't want to believe his suspicions.
"Leo... Two years ago Nico collapsed due to his heart growing weak. Everyday his condition was growing worse and it seems that... his heart stopped completely. Leo... Nico's gone" Aunt Hazel explained going forward a little. She was crying as she said that. Leo felt her pain. They both just lost a sibling.
"No... no... This can't be real... You're all just pranking me, right? Somehow you found out I was going to visit and decided to prank me to get back at me for all those years I didn't visit, right? Right?!" Leo said, desperately. It can't be. He just can't be gone.
"Leo..." Aunt Piper said, sympathy and sadness seen in her eyes.
"No! No!" Leo screamed, gripping Nico closer. He looked at Nico, shaking him a little.
"Nico.. wake up... prank's over" He whispered to Nico. His tears falling into the italian's face. That couldn't be. Nico can't be gone. But deep inside of Leo, he knew that the italian was gone.
"Nico... say something... please" Leo cried out, quietly. His tears falling faster.
"I'm sorry... Nico... I'm sorry for leaving you.. Please just come back to me" Leo whispered out, hugging Nico's lifeless body closer.
"I need you, Nico. Please. Nico..." Leo cried out, sobbing. He couldn't care about the crowd around him, all he could care about was Nico.
"Just say something Nico... please. You can't be gone." Leo whispered, hoping that Nico would just surprise him and say "Ha! Gotcha didn't I?" But sadly he didn't.
It just can't be. He can't be gone. He can't be dead.
"Nico..." was the last thing Leo said before fully accepting that his brother. His last hope was dead.

Jason noticed how Leo stayed at the back of the ceremony. He thought about how similar he was to Nico when Leo Valdez died.
Both so desparate.
Both so in pain.
Both lost the thing that had kept their life going.

Leo wanted him back. Though he couldn't. He wished he could.
He looked back into the camp he once called home. The camp that will remind him of Nico. The camp that will bring back good memories. The camp that will bring back pain. All his memories of his childhood with Nico. The pain was eating hin alive. He couldn't take it
He shut his eyes and entered his car, driving away slowly.
