You Knew All Along?
Ash
I know this looks bad, but we are both completely fine.
We weren't far from the Royal Pack when we were ambushed by ten Wilds. The only reason they got the jump on us was because we weren't paying enough attention to sense where they were before attacking. Our guards were let down, we figured no one would attack us this close to the Royal Pack. I was wrong. It's worse than it seems. We are just dirty from being tackled into the mud from the recent fog and then I got a few scratches, gashes, and bite marks which are all on their way to healing. Frost is already fully healed. Lucky bastard. Braden looks like he is on the verge of exploding if we don't say something soon.
"We're fine, Braden. Calm down," I tell him.
"Calm down?" he sounds bewildered, "How can I calm down? My mate is standing here, injured, and you want me to calm down?"
"Yes, I am okay. I am healing," I explain.
Braden looks like he might cry, but embraces me in a tight hug instead. He hits a few sensitive spots; however, I keep my mouth shut so he doesn't freak out again.
"I'm so glad you are alive," Braden whispers in my ear, he voice shaking.
"I told you I would be okay," I whisper back.
We separate from our embrace and I ask if there is a place I can have a shower and Frost agrees as well. We are both overdue for a nice shower to get this gunk off. Braden takes us to the wing of the castle we have been assigned to. I get a few stares in confusion from some pack members who heard some of what happened back at their pack house. Maybe someone saw it from the kitchen or a bedroom upstairs. I hope none of the kids saw it happen.
After my refreshing shower, I head downstairs to the backyard where we are having a pack meeting. I walk down with Frost who was waiting for me to head down. We walk out back, side by side, and walk straight over to Hayden. Hayden is at the front of the crowd, I see his pack paying close attention, wanting answers to why we uprooted under such short notice. I also recognize a few faces from the Royal Pack, including Ash and Amara. It still feels weird calling them that instead of King and Queen. My eyes catch Braden's and he gives me a reassuring smile. I realize Noctis is standing next to him, also watching me. When did she get here?
"Okay everyone, I have asked the King and Queen to allow me to call this meeting on behalf of when happened back at our territory. I know everyone has many questions and after I have a chance to speak, you may bring them to my attention and I will answer to the best of my ability."
Everyone seems to collectively nod in agreement and Hayden looks over to me so I can explain all of what happened and has happened. I take a deep breath, Frost pats me on the back and smiles, encouraging me to go on. I walk up beside Hayden and begin explaining. I tell them everything from the beginning. About Cas, Malakai, and my powers surfacing. I explain how there was an attack today and that it was on me. I describe how I held off the rogue group long enough for everyone to evacuate the pack lands and how Frost aided me in finishing off the Wilds. I pause, waiting for the inevitable question of how I fit into all of this in the first place. How I got these powers and why. Hands shoot up around the field and Hayden calls on a pack member.
"I thought you were just a human, how do you have powers?"
I take a deep breath, "I have powers because I am a Mura and the Saviour." Gasps erupt from the crowd and then whispers spread, talking amongst themselves about this information that has been given.
"Okay everyone," Hayden addresses and the whispers quiet down, "If there are any other questions, please come to me with them personally. That is all for todays meeting, thank you."
The crowd slowly disperses and the only ones left in the field are Noctis, Amara, Ash, Braden, Frost, and I. Hayden ended up leaving with the group because he figured there would be more questions from the pack members. Braden looks at me with pride while Frost looks like he will burst with excitement at any moment. Noctis and Amara look happy and Ash just looks confused.
"I had a feeling you were the Saviour," Noctis comments.
"Really?" I ask, I thought I hid it decently well.
"Yes, me too. You always had this confident, powerful aura radiating off of you," Amara adds. I look at them confused, I thought I covered my power?
"You did cover yourself very well from others," Noctis says, answering my unasked question. "However, Amara and I aren't normal wolves and it was easier to detect who you were, even before you knew who you are."
"Wait, you knew all along? Even when I stayed at your house?" I question.
"Yes, I had a pretty good hunch and that last day it was verified when you came into your powers. Your scent and aura took a few hours to develop, but I could catch the faint smell and I knew who you were then for sure."
I stay silent for I don't know what to say. She knew? She didn't tell anyone? Why would she keep it such a secret if I was supposed to be this important person who will supposedly save the world from evil. What if Cas or Malakai got to me before I was ready to tell people who I am? What I am? Maybe she just had faith that I would be alright?
"What's so special about your wolves?" I wonder aloud.
"Why don't we head in for some dinner and we will explain?" Amara suggests and everyone agrees. I'm starving.
Sitting around the table, I can feel anxiousness, nervousness, and curiosity rolling off of everyone. No one knows what story is about to be told except for those telling it a few who we lucky enough to be around to witness it. Everyone remains silent, unsure of what to expect. I can tell Braden is ready to burst with questions, but he is holding back. I slide my hand into his and give him a small smile, telling him everything will be alright. He grins back in thanks at my gesture and seems to calm down quite a bit. Finally, Noctis begins.
"Years ago, when I was eighteen, I joined the military to get away from this place," she gestures to the castle. "I was never at home here and I felt like a prisoner. Lots of hardships were thrown at me while I served, but I always had my wolf to stand by me through it all."
Amara and Noctis exchange a look. I don't quite understand what the silent conversation holds; however, it is something that gets Noctis to continue.
"I met my mate while on assignment, but I couldn't stay around since I had to follow the rogues we were hunting. My mate..." Noctis trails off, a look of pain covers her facial features. "My mate was Ash," she finishes with a small sob and a glance at the King.
"What?" Braden asks, he voice not daring to raise above a whisper as he looks between his mother and Ash.
Noctis keeps moving forward with her story, "I was captured by the biggest group of rogues we have ever seen. Everyone had heard about the white wolf that emerged not long ago and they figured out it was me." More gasps are heard around the table. "While being held captive, I went through a lot of physical and mental torture. I got...pregnant," she won't make eye contact with Braden and I immediately pick up on what that means. Braden; however, takes it a different way.
"I had a sibling? Why didn't you ever mention them to me? I can't believe you never mentioned any of this to me."
"Braden, stop. You need to calm down and let he continue," I insist and he takes a deep breath, but remain quiet.
"I made it out after quite a while and I lost the baby, the child. I thought they killed him," Noctis let's out another sob, letting her head hang low.
Amara puts a reassuring hand on her shoulder, "I will continue. I...Noctis stumbled upon the Blood Paw Pack territory and Cal after Luke challenged her for the Alpha King Position."
"You were in line for the Alpha King position?" Frost all but shouts. When everyone looks his way, Frost shrinks back into his seat, diverting his eyes to his hands.
"Like I was saying, Noctis along with Cal came to the Blood Paw Territory, it was abandoned. Not many knew but it was Brae's territory way back when. Ash, he uh.." Amara trails off, looking at her husbands who looks shameful.
"He rejected me," Noctis admits. "Then that's when everything changed. I changed. Amara, she is...she was my wolf."
No one knows how to respond. How does someone lose their wolf and their wolf manifests into a human? I didn't even know that was possible. The table is in complete and utter silence as we await the story to continue.
"I am a True Alpha, that is why Amara was removed from me and how she is now her own person. I won the battle with Luke, my brother, for the Alpha King title."
"Wait, wait. You are Braelynn Lockhart? The lost princess of the Royal Pack. The one and only daughter of Riggs and Hadley Lockhart?" Braden questions, hurt evident in his voice. He doesn't understand why his own mother never told him any of this.
"Yes, I am. Amara became Queen so that I could become Alpha if the pack I was destined to organize. There's more," Noctis trails, her voice becoming smaller that before. "Cal, myself, and my two friends - Josh and Quinton - accompanied me to go find Ash who went missing. A witch named Keres took him as well as a good friend of mine, Maria, to the underworld."
"Cool," Frost breathes out as everyone gives him an incredulous look. One of which says shut the fuck up. "Sorry," he whispers.
"We were able to save them both and someone else. We brought them back to the surface. Not long after, Amara was crowned Queen and..." Noctis sniffles back another sob from releasing.
"That's when she found out that I was her mate," Ash speaks up.
"How could you have been her mate still after rejection?" I ask curiously.
"I rejected Noctis. I never used Amara's name in the rejection and; therefore, we were still bonded."
"Interesting. I didn't think that was possible, although I didn't think it was possible to be separated from your wolf either. Today is just full of possibilities I guess," Frost comments.
"Yes, this world is definitely a lot more complicated than we ever could have thought of. A True Alpha Female, a black wolf who died three times, a Mura who was born or sent to earth from a young age, a vampire who is part-Mura," Amara states.
Braden looks at Frost with wife's eyes, as does Ash. They didn't know that Frost was part Mura. I guess Amara and Noctis could tell though. That is probably why they were both willing to let Frost onto their territories.
"Who was the third person you found in the underworld alongside Ash and Maria?" Braden questions.
"Braden..." I start, trying to tell him to leave it be. It may be better if he never knew what really happened.
"No Ash, I was to know who it was. Why is that such a hard question?" Braden snaps and I raise my eyebrows at him in surprise.
"Braden just..." I am cut off by Noctis.
"It was you. You are the baby I had while with the rogues, you are the one who I thought was murdered by them and caused me to go into a rampage and kill over 200 rogues, you are the one who I finally found that day with Maria and Ash. You are the one who kept me together when I was starting a pack from the ground up on my own without any mate for myself. You are the one who kept me from committing suicide all those times I thought it was too hard to continue on. You, Braden, are my amazing boy who saved my life and helps everyone you meet."
