Shshshshshshsh, Calm Down
Ash
How in the hell would they know that? That is the question I have been asking myself all throughout training and I still have not come up with an answer. There is no way that the rogues would know that the saviour is here unless someone told them. The only people who know are Jax and Hayden. I don't think they would tell anyone....
I am sitting in my room on my bed, thinking of what to do. Would it fix everything if I left or would it make it worse, at least if I am here I can help fight if the rogues start a war. Maybe they will get the Royal pack involved in this since they are also looking up and down for the saviour. I have always been curious about the royal family. There is so much drama that I have heard bits and pieces of from Jax. I would love to get the full story one day.
A knock at my door pulls me out of my thoughts. I walk up to the slab of oak and open it to reveal Sam.
"Heya Sam, what's up?" I ask, trying to act cool even though I can having a big internal conflict right now.
"Can we talk?" He says in a serious tone.
I gulp and step aside so he can enter my room. I prepare myself for the worst. Maybe he figured it out and wants to throw me to the rogues to protect his pack. I understand why he would do it, but man I don't want that to happen.
"How can I help you?" I question.
"Do you know anything about the prophecy of the Saviour?"
"Some. Not much though." I tell him and it is the partial truth. The actual prophecy I know very little about.
"Well, is Jax....what I mean to say is do you know if..." Sam huffs.
"What about Jax?" I okay dumb.
"Alright, I'm just going to ask. Is Jax the saviour?"
I chuckle a bit, "No, he isn't. I think I would know if people were hunting down my best friend."
"Have you seen his wolf?" Sam persists.
"Yes, I have. Why?"
"What colour is his wolf?"
"He isn't the saviour Sam. Why are you looking for them anyway?" I ask, even though I know the answer.
Sam sighs, "The rogues said we need to hand over the saviour or they would claim war. I can't let my pack members die and I am kind of overwhelmed because I can't get ahold of my dad right now either and I don't know what to do." Sam rambles.
"Hey Sam, calm down okay? We will figure something out. If you find the saviour are you just going to hand them over to the rogues? Do you know what those rogues would do to them?"
"Of course I don't want to hand over anyone but maybe I could talk with them and convince them to help me fight off the rogues. With them, we could probably win."
I nod, "I think that everything will work out in the end. If you need, Jax and I can stay a little bit longer to help out if anything is started."
Sam looks at me suspiciously and I think that he has figured it out for a moment before he gives me a small grin, "You're right. If you both could stay around a little longer that would be great. You don't have to keep training the pack though, we have greatly appreciated your training."
"It was our pleasure," Jax replies as he walks into my room.
Sam nods in appreciation as Jax and gives me a smile before excusing himself from my room. I turn to Jax with a disapproving look on my face.
"What did I do now?" Jax whines.
"You were eavesdropping on my conversation with Sam," I cross my arms over my chest.
Jax rolls his eyes, "I was walking here to talk to you and I happened to overhear part of the conversation."
"What do you want?" I snap. I am feeling very stressed right now and I need to formulate a plan of sorts.
"We are going to get you an outfit for your birthday tomorrow," Jax puts in a goofy smile.
"Jax, I can't right now. I need to figure out what I am going to do about these rogues and our problem at hand and we should....." Jax cuts me off.
"Shshshshshshsh, calm down. There will be time for that later. Right now we need to get you ready for the best birthday party your have ever had!"
I huff, knowing that I shouldn't have agreed to any of this with Jax. He won't let this go and I know it. I guess my worrying will have to wait until tomorrow after the party.
Jax grabs my arm and drags me out of my room, towards the front door. He practically runs into town with me being dragged behind him. He walks with determination once he breaks through the trees. Within two minutes we are standing at the door to some clothing store. I can immediately tell I won't like any thing in there.
"Jax," I whine, "I don't like these kind of stores and you know that."
"No pouting, you said and I quote 'I will let you pick'. I therefore have the rights to dress you up as I see fit. What if you find your Lamara tomorrow? You should look hot!"
I roll my eyes, "I still don't really understand. What are the odds of meeting them tomorrow anyway? You haven't met your mate yet and you are twenty one."
Jax looks sad, "I know, that is why I am hoping you can find yours. I don't want you to be alone like I am."
I gasp and hold my hand over my heart, "What am I? Chopped liver?"
"You know what I mean Ash, I have been looking all over for my mate this past year and I still have no luck. I am thinking that she may have died. Either that or you are my mate," Jax chuckles, I detect some nervousness in his voice.
"Jax, you are my best friend but..." I don't even know what to say. Jax is like a brother to me.
"I know Ash, you are like a sister to me and that is why I hope you aren't my mate," Jax speaks the truth.
I nod and he then opens the door as we both enter the fancy, girly shop. I resist the urge to gag when I see a bunch of pink and other vibrant colours. Jax walks me over to a rack of dresses. None of them are even close to my style, well if I liked dresses in the first place.
"Go try these on," Jax shoved three dresses into my hands.
I drag my feet over to the dressing room and shut the curtain, hanging up the dresses. Just looking at them I want to throw up. I force myself to try on the first....puffy pink dress. Gag. I don't want to be seen in this.
"Come on Ash! Let me see it!" Jax says excitedly.
"I hate you," I grumble as I open the curtain.
I can see Jax is trying to hold back his laughter before he bursts out laughing. I give him a death glare before closing the curtain once more. I take off that god awful dress and look at the next one. More puffiness. Great. This one is a green colour. No, not a nice dark green...bright ass neon green. Shoot me.
"Jax, I'm going to kill you," I growl out.
"Hey, hey. I like the colours. Come on, I bet this one looks great!" Jax exclaims.
I rip open the curtain, almost taking it off the track. Jax bursts out laughing and his face quickly turns red. I get beyond angry and start thinking of how much I would love to stab Jax right now. A conniving grin spreads across my lips as I look at Jax, daydreaming of his murder. Jax stops laughing when he looks at me and then he looks at my hand with fear. I look down and see a silver dagger in my hand. I let it dissipate and I head back into the room to get the dress off. I take a look at the next dress and I don't even bother trying it on as it is just as bad as the other two. I put back on my clothes and step out.
"Hey! There was still one more dress in there," Jax says.
I shoot daggers his way with my eyes, "I am not embarrassing myself anymore. If you won't choose something that is decent then I will not be going to the party at all."
"This was all just a joke Ash, I knew you would instantly hate everything in here but these pictures are priceless!" Jax pulls up pictures on his phone and shows them to me. They are me in both of the dresses.
"You better hope no one else ever sees these pictures Ash," I threaten.
"Don't worry Ash, these are for Jaxy's eyes only," Jax winks and I let out a small laugh. "Come on, let's get you to the real outfit I got for you for tomorrow, but first, coffee."
We walk out of the terrible store and head down the street to the local coffee shop. Once we step inside, I can instantly feel that the members of the Blood Paw Pack are here as well. I see Cal and Braden in the corner of my eye sitting at a nearby booth. They are talking in hushed whispers and I can feel their glances in mine and Jax's direction. Jax and I take a seat at a booth and order coffees.
"So, tomorrow I am going to need you to meet me in the woods by that huge rock in the morning at dawn."
I draw my eyebrows together, "Why?"
"You will see. Just wear what I got you and meet me there okay?" Jax insists.
"Alright, I guess," I give him a suspicious gaze.
"Do you think it's him?" I hear Braden ask Cal at the other side of the room.
"I'm not sure Braden, we can't know for sure until we see his wolf. You know that. I haven't seen any other suspicious activity. Have you?" Cal questions. Are they talking about Jax?
"No, I haven't either. Why would the rogues assume the saviour is here? The only new people here are us, Jax, and Ash," Braden answers.
So they are suspicious of us. I understand them wanting to know who the saviour is, but they can't prove anything as long as I remain careful. I don't think they have heard about the whole hospital visit thing by the sounds of it and Sam doesn't seem suspicious of me either.
"Well, we can rule out the both of us and our guards. Ash is human so she can't be it..." Braden starts but Cal cuts him off.
"I don't know Braden, have you seen her fighting? She can take down a werewolf and he is an excellent fighter. I don't see how a human, no matter how trained, could do that."
"But she hasn't shown any signs of being a werewolf. How could she hide it so well?"
"I don't know Braden, all I know if that she seems....off."
Shit. They are suspicious of me now? I really hope they brush past that soon enough. I don't need my secret getting out. If that happens then who knows how it will end. Our coffees are dropped off and I decide that we should leave. I don't want to be around Braden and Cal anymore. I am afraid that the more I am around them, the more likely something will slip up.
