A Vampire...Having A Panic Attack

Ash

We are now being escorted to the Royal pack house by a guard. They bring us inside and up to the throne room where we will meet Queen Amara and King Ash. We walk through the grand heavy doors and come face to face with two thrones, the bigger one has Queen Amara sitting in it and the smaller one have King Ash. This is to show that Queen Amara is first in command and is the Alpha of the pack while King Ash is the Lunar (male version of the Luna of a pack). I bow and so does Frost while we await for permission to stand.

"You may both stand up. It's good to see you again Ash, how did you enjoy the party?" Queen Amara questions.

"It was very nice, my lady," I reply and bow my head slightly before bringing it back up.

"Please, call me Amara dear. Who is your friend here?" Amara asks and she doesn't look fazed by the fact that Frost is a vampire.

"This is Frost, he has become my travel partner while Jax is at the White Stone Pack with his mate."

Both Amara and Ash walk over to us and Amara holds out a hand to Frost. Frost looks hesitant by the gesture, thinking it may be a trap. I nudge his shoulder with mine and he gently takes Amara's hand in his and shakes it. He then does the same with Ash.

"It's lovely to meet you Frost, I believe I heard about you from my sister, Noctis." Sister? I didn't know they were sisters.

"I believe so your majesty, she gave me shelter while I was in need a while back. I am truly grateful for her hospitality," Frost bows his head.

"She was quite happy to help you. Please, any friend of Ash is a friend of mine. Call me Amara and my husband here Ash." Frost nods respectfully.

"So, what brings you here today Ash?" Ash asks.

"I am in search of a book that I have heard you have in your library. I was wondering if I could have a look?"

"Of course," I can see that Ash is about to ask about the book I am looking for but Amara shakes her heads slightly at him and mindlinks him. He closes his mouth. Huh. I thought they would have wanted to know the book I am looking for. Odd.

"The library is left out of these doors and down the hall. Fourth door on the right," Amara directs and smiles.

"Thank you very much," I bow and Frost joins me before we leave through the grand doors and head to the library.

Frost has found a seat on one of the couches in the grand library. He is laying there quietly while I go in search of the book I seek. After maybe a half hour of looking on the spines of books in the history section, I finally found what I was looking for. Rare Anomalies in the Supernatural World. I take the book and go to sit down on the beautiful reading nook by the window. I begin flipping through the pages and Frost comes to sit silently beside me. White wolves, black wolves, blue wolves, hybrids...I notice Frost shift in his seat. I shrug, he's probably getting comfortable. Demons, original witches, Mura. Finally.

Mura's are like the guardians of the supernatural. They are only on earth in times of great need. All Mura's must be born in Kiropa, the land where Mura's live. If they are born in any other realm, the child would suffer the fate of dying shortly after birth. There are Mura's with blue eyes (lower rank) then gold eyes (high rank). Any other eye colour has not been seen or documented; however, any other eye colour is believed to be more powerful than the heiress of Kiropa. Their Queen. Mura's have pure white wings and a power. This power is usually an element and most commonly earth or water.

Lamara's. These are the Mura's soulmate. They are always a Mura as well, if their mate was any other being, they wouldn't be able to bare a child so the Mura would most likely reject their mate and choose a Mura for a mate. Lamara's are found after the male counterpart smells the female's scent. The female then would smell a very sweet scent which is the scent of her Lamara. I roll my eyes, old fashioned. Why does the male have to identify their Lamara first? Shit. Does this mean that Braden might be my mate but I won't know until I reveal my scent to him? This just got a whole lot more complicated. I notice a note at the bottom of the page. It reads 'This is confidential information that is allowed to be seen by the Royal Pack. Strictly confidential information on current, up to date sightings are hidden and are not to be found'. Weird. Why would they let this information out but not the rest? What is so special about this up to date information?

I go to turn the page when I hear the door to the library slam open. The sound ripples throughout the large room and I snap my gaze over. Zane is standing in the doorway and he looks furious. My eyes widen and I look over to Frost who looks like he is about to shit himself. Zane begins marching over towards Frost and I so I instinctively put Frost behind me, knowing I can hold my own against Zane. I don't care if he is a hybrid or not, I can take him.

"Move Ash," Zane demands in a deadly voice.

"No Zane, you need to calm down and tell me what's going on," I push back.

"He's not welcome here," Zane snarls.

"What? The Queen and King both let us come here so we are staying here until they say we are no longer welcome or we have finished what we came for. You need to calm down right now," I demand.

Zane, for a very brief moment, looks scared of my tone, but he quickly brushes it off. He goes to grab me, but I use my telekinesis to hold his hand on the spot. For all he knows, I can be a human with a magical power. Zane looks at me with the most shocked expression I have ever seen. Worse than when I told Jax about me being a Mura.

"How? You are very strong for a human, if you even are human," Zane gives me a sceptical look.

I change the subject, "Why do you want Frost to leave?"

Zane scoffs, "Because he is the son of the most notorious vampire to ever live. Cassius Kilian. The coven leader of the Sundusk coven."

I slowly turn around, keeping Zane where he is, so I can look at Frost to see his reaction. He looks guilty, staring at the ground and not making eye contact with anyone.

"Is this true Frost?" I question.

"Yeah," he mumbles, eyes glued to the floor.

I take a deep breath, Frost, this awkward guy, is the son of a notorious vampire? I don't know if I believe it. He doesn't seem like the type to be hiding something. I am usually pretty good at sniffing out a liar or a fake. His body language seems to be of a man that is ashamed of his past, not of one hiding to hurt anyone. Why would Noctis ever let him on her territory if she knew about his past? She doesn't seem like the person to take someone in without a ton of questions and research.

"Can we all just calm down?" I ask, pointing my question at Zane.

He goes to argue but remembers that I have him trapped on the spot. He still can't move. He sighs and nods his head in defeat. I let Zane go from my grasp and he finally takes his eyes off Frost to look at me.

"How are you so strong?" He interrogates.

"That's not what matters, right now what matters is getting this dispute over and done with. Okay?"

"Fine," Zane replies.

I look to Frost. "Okay," he answers.

"Alright. Frost, do you want to tell us what happened. The truth," I say, implying that I will be paying close attention to detail.

He nods, "I was only a young boy when Braelynn was captured at the Sundusk coven. I was always curious but my father made sure to keep me away from the cells. I would listen in to your conversations and that is when I realized how wrong my father was about...well everything. I started rebelling and trying to leave, but it was next to impossible. Especially when I had two full grown vampires on me at all time with special gifts. One with the ability to control another's body and one who make you feel like you are drowning on land."

"How did you get away?" I wonder.

"The day of the war. The minute my father died, the barrier came down. Since no one was there to watch me and they were all at the Royal Pack, I got away. I only found out a couple years later what really happened that day and how they all died by the hand of the very girl who showed me the wrongs in our coven. I wanted to find her, to thank her, but instead I found her grave. After that, I was staying as a lone vamp, travelling the states."

I nod once, he is telling the truth, I can sense it. I see Zane looking at Frost, a calculating gaze in his eye as he tries to figure out if he is telling the truth. It seems he comes to the conclusion as I did.

"Okay," Zane nods a few times, "I believe you. I'm sorry to have assumed you were just like your father. I just...I just lost my mate to him and his coven. What is your power?"

Frost gulps nervously, "Uh, why would you assume I have a power?"

"That coven wouldn't keep anyone who wasn't born with a power, even if they were the son of the leader." I look to Frost, waiting for his answer.

"I uh, I don't really feel comfortable talking about it here," Frost says as he looks around the room, nervous someone else is listening.

"No one here will tell anyone, I can promise you that Frost," Zane promises.

Frost seems to continue to panic, "I just, I haven't told anyone and...the last person to know almost killed me and...I can't really breathe right now."

Frost doesn't look too good and he is breathing very fast. I...is he having a panic attack? A vampire...having a panic attack? Is that even possible?

"Frost, you need to take a couple deep breaths okay?" I instruct.

Frost takes a few deep breaths but it doesn't seem to be working. He falls to the ground with a loud thud, his breathing not slowing down. I heave Frost up and put his arm over my shoulder to help him out of the pack house and into the fresh air. Outside, I sit him down on the steps and crouch in front of him.

"Frost, I need you to calm down," I tell him but it doesn't work. His face is going beet red. I stand up and punch Frost with all my force right in his jaw. His head goes crashing down onto the steps, little crack spread from where his head impacted with the stone. At least it worked. Frost is breathing normally and is looking at me with a very shocked expression. I turn to see Zane looking at me the same way.

"You are really strong," Frost says with eyes wide.

"I have been teaching werewolves how to fight for over a year. I pick up a few techniques," I lie.

"Mmhm, I have never seen many werewolves or vampires strong enough to do what you just did. I definitely don't think a human, no matter their training can do that," Zane states, his stare sending nerves through my body.

I stay quiet. I know they are both suspicious and are onto me now. I have nothing left to say that could try to save my cover, so instead I just remain silent. Zane stares at me a little while longer before speaking.

"I am only letting this go because I have a good feeling from you since the moment I met you and the fact that you are a good acquaintance with many powerful people." Zane turns his attention to Frost, "Now back to you, what is your power?"

Frost takes a deep breath and looks around before speaking when he knows we are the only ones within hearing distance, "Mura."
