Kasia's legs were burning, she felt like she's been walking forever. The shine is beating down on them making them sweat everywhere, Kasia was beginning to feel like it was a lost hope. Since Kasia was walking next to Sonya when Sonya came to a stop Kasia looked at her confused. "What are you-" Kasia watched as Sonya lifted her hand to shield her eyes from the sun but Kasia cut herself off when she followed Sonya's gaze and realized that someone was walking towards them.
Whoever it was stopped in the middle and then kept walking so Sonya glanced at Kasia who nodded and the group started to walk, towards him. Kasia saw Kano pick up speed and walk towards the person but as Kasia opened her mouth to tell Kano not too he grabbed his knife but before he can even start to get it out of his sheath the person throw a gust of fire towards Kano who flew backward towards where the group was still standing. "Shit, are you okay?" Kasia rushes towards Kano making sure he's alright, he grumbles but takes Kasia's outstretched hand and gets up with her help.
"I'm not your enemy, I'm Liu Kang from the Shaolin Order of Light." The one now known as Liu Kang says turning and putting his weight on his front foot and his hands in the air ready to fight if anyone tries anything again. Sonya tries to stop forward but Kasia grabs her forearm, when Sonya looks at Kasia confused she shakes her head gently. "You're one of the champions," Sonya concludes making Liu Kang give a short nod. "Yes, from Earthrealm. Finally, you have come to seek out Raiden's Temple." Liu Kang holds out his hand for them to shake, but Kano looks at his hands in shock.
"Fuck the Temple. Wait, you just shot a fireball out of your hand. How'd you do that?" Liu Kang looked at Kano and Sonya, he gulped but before he could say anything Kano interjected. "Hang on, does that mean I'm going to get superpowers at any point?" Liu Kang lifted his hand and put it on Kano's shoulder which was covered in soot and ash from the fireball. "There's much to learn, but not here. Follow me." Liu Kang says looking at Sonya and starts to walk the way that they came from.
Kasia groaned which caused Sonya to look at her. "Sue me, I'm tired. We've been walking all day, I kinda hoped we would be there by now." Sonya gave her an apologetic look, she gulped and brushed the fallen hair behind her ears. "I was surprised you didn't ask him if they could get rid of the mark, it's all you've been talking about." Kasia gave a slight chuckle at Sonya. "I thought it would be better to do that alone, and honestly Liu Kang looked a little young so I'm hoping that someone else could help me."
Kasia looked down and kicked the sand making the shoe a little dirty. "That's a good choice, I can't tell you for sure that the mark can leave without you dying but I hope there is a way." Sonya touched Kasia on arm making her shiver as Sonya walked a little quicker to be behind Liu Kang.
As Kasia watched Sonya walk away she has this pit in her stomach, but it wasn't hunger or starvation because it only happened after Sonya touched her. Kasia pressed her lips together and gulped before walking quicker so she can catch up to them as she realized she was falling behind a little bit while she was thinking.
The night was starting to fall and Kasia wasn't an outdoorsy person but she knew that the desert got cold at night, Kasia was about to speak about it when Liu Kang stopped on the edge of a cliff. "There it is, what you've all been searching for." Liu Kang mutters once the four of them stand beside him. Sonya chuckles and Kasia smiles, it's real Kasia thinks to herself. She is that much closer to getting the mark off forever.
It takes some climbing but Liu Kang leads them to the entrance to the temple. "It wasn't always like this. For thousands of years, this temple was a holy place of worship." The four of them follow Liu Kang as he leads deeper into the temple. "It is essential that we begin your training for the next tournament." Cole chuckles beside Kasia. "This doesn't feel like a tournament, so far it feels like an ambush." Kasia can hear Liu Kang huff all the way from the back which was where she was walking. "We don't have much time. We will not see another full moon before the tournament begins."
As Liu Kang leads them deeper into the temple it starts to get narrower so they have to go in a single file line now but Kasia feels like it's a good sign because that means they are close, Kasia jumps when she hears a woosh and suddenly the pathway got a little bit brighter. "Come, come, through here." Liu Kang gestures for them to walk through a dark branch.
"Is this even safe?" Kasia asks holding onto Sonya's shirt because she's afraid to get lost but before anyone could answer Liu Kang brings them to a stop. "Now, what? You gonna make a door appear out of nowhere?" Kano chuckles, Liu Kang has led them to a dead-end and Kasia can't see anywhere else for them to go but backward.
Liu Kang moves his hands and as the fire goes out the door starts to open up, Kasia mouth drops in shock. "Wow," Sonya mutters from in front of Kasia as they walk into a temple room where people are walking.
This is unlike anything Kasia has ever seen before but this might be it, Kasia might be saved.
