Chapter 21

Gojo was right.

Using the newly learned techniques in his own body was much more challenging than using them in Gojo's body, and Megumi was having a hard time adjusting.

He was sitting on the floor, trying to catch his breath, while Gojo stood next to him, looking annoyingly smug.

"Not as easy as it looked, huh?" Gojo asked, grinning.

Megumi wanted to smack that stupid smile off his teacher's face.

"No. But, I'll get the hang of it," Megumi replied.

"Oh, I have no doubt about that. You're a talented kid, Megumi," Gojo said, and chuckled.

He leaned down, and patted Megumi on the head.

Megumi huffed.

"Gojo-sensei, I'm not a child. Please don't do that," he said, glaring.

"Ah, sorry, sorry. You're right. You're a grown man, aren't you? Doing all kinds of grown-up things with your boyfriend," Gojo teased.

"If you mention that one more time, I'm gonna summon Mahoraga on you," Megumi growled.

"You're so mean to me, Megumi," Gojo whined.

"And you're a nuisance," Megumi shot back.

He was tired, and cranky. He was also a little disappointed. He had thought that he could manage to use a Simple Domain, at least.

Well, he did create one, but, the barrier hadn't stay in place for long. It kept dissipating, and Megumi wasn't sure what the issue was. He was focusing, and, well, the domain was there, for a few seconds, but then, it disappeared.

"It'll come to you. Give yourself time," Gojo told him, his expression serious, for once.

"I don't have time," Megumi said, frustrated.

He was feeling guilty, and it was annoying him. He shouldn't feel guilty. They were doing everything in their power to defeat Kenjaku and stop Sukuna.

"Megumi, listen," Gojo said, and Megumi looked at him.

"What?"

"It's your way of thinking that's holding you back. You're overthinking things, and getting all worked up," Gojo explained. "It's not like you. Why are you suddenly so impatient?"

"I'm not," Megumi said, defensively.

"Yes, you are," Gojo insisted.

Megumi didn't respond.

Gojo was right. Of course he was right. Megumi was impatient. He had a very bad feeling, and, he was scared. He was scared of losing Yuji again. He was scared that Sukuna would somehow get his way, and kill everyone.

"Megumi. Do you want to know a secret?" Gojo asked.

"No," Megumi muttered.

"Too bad. You're gonna hear it, anyway," Gojo said, grinning.

He crouched down next to Megumi, and his expression changed.

"I'm scared, too," Gojo told him.

"Scared? You? No way," Megumi said, frowning.

"It's true," Gojo said, smiling.

"Of what?" Megumi asked, raising an eyebrow.

Gojo reached out, and ruffled Megumi's hair.

"I'm scared of losing you, and the others. I'm scared that I won't be strong enough, or smart enough, or good enough, to keep you all safe."

Megumi stared.

"That's why you're training us so hard, isn't it?" he asked, after a while.

"Mhm," Gojo nodded. "I'm pushing you to improve, because I want you to be able to defend yourself, if I'm not there. Because, what happened in Yuji's old timeline proved that I'm not infallible. That I might not be able to protect you, if it comes down to it."

Megumi had never heard Gojo speak like that. He was a little surprised.

Gojo was usually a happy-go-lucky type, who rarely took things seriously. It was hard to imagine him worrying. But, Megumi could tell that he wasn't lying. He could tell, by the look on his teacher's face, and, in his eyes.

"You know, the fact that you're all growing up, and becoming capable sorcerers, should make me proud," Gojo said, softly. "And it does. But, sometimes, I wish you didn't have to grow up so fast. That you could just be kids, and not worry about life and death situations, and fighting curses, and, everything."

Megumi didn't know what to say. He had no idea that Gojo was thinking this way. He had always assumed that Gojo was simply having fun, and being lazy.

"So, stop worrying about not getting things right the first time," Gojo told him. "Stop thinking so hard. You're the kind of person who learns best by doing, so, instead of obsessing over the technicalities, try to just go with the flow. Okay?"

Megumi nodded.

"Okay."

Gojo smiled, and ruffled Megumi's hair again.

"Alright, now let's try it again."

-

Yuji was having lunch with Choso, Eso and Kechizu in the basement room. They just finished training, and Yuji was exhausted.

"This is delicious," Eso said, after taking a bite of his sandwich.

"It is," Kechizu agreed, and took another bite.

Yuji grinned.

His newfound brothers seemed to warm up to him. They were no longer so wary, and, Yuji thought it was great.

"Thanks. I'm glad you like it," he told them.

"Yuji had taught me how to make sandwiches, and other things, before," Choso said, smiling. "It took me a while to get the hang of it."

"It's great, onii-chan," Kechizu said.

Choso smiled.

"By the way, is Yuki not joining us today?" Yuji asked, looking around.

Choso shook his head.

"She went to train with Todo," he explained.

"Oh. Alright."

"Hey, Yuji? How do humans date?" Eso asked, suddenly.

Yuji almost choked on his sandwich.

"Um. Why do you ask?" he said, when he stopped coughing.

"Well, it's just, I heard Yuki mention that she wants to go on a date with onii-chan, and I was wondering what humans do on dates," Eso said, shrugging.

Yuji looked at Choso. His brother had a small smile on his lips, and, it seemed that the idea of a date was exciting to him.

Yuji cleared his throat.

"Humans don't have just one way of dating," he explained.

"There are lots of ways. It depends on the couple. Some people enjoy going to restaurants, or the movies. Others enjoy going for walks, or visiting museums. It depends on the people. And, on their preferences," he continued.

"So, how do you date, Yuji?" Eso asked.

Yuji blushed.

"Uh. Well. Megumi and I don't really go out much," he mumbled.

"Why not?" Eso asked, curiously.

Yuji felt his cheeks burn.

"Well, um. We're both pretty busy, so we can't really go anywhere, or do anything, so, we just, stay home. But we watch movies together, and, cuddle," Yuji admitted.

"Cuddle?" Eso repeated.

"Yeah, uh. Holding each other, or, putting our arms around each other, or, something like that," Yuji explained.

Eso looked at him, confused.

"But, why would you want to hold each other? Isn't it uncomfortable?"

"Well, it's not uncomfortable. It feels good, actually," Yuji told him.

"Interesting," Eso murmured, and then turned to look at Choso.

"Do you think you'd like to cuddle with Yuki, onii-chan?"

Choso's eyes lit up, and he grinned.

"Oh, I'd love to!"

"Hmm," Eso said, and took another bite of his sandwich.

"How about kissing, Yuji?" Kechizu asked.

"Uh. Yes, we do that, too," Yuji replied.

"Kissing. Interesting," Kechizu muttered, and went back to eating his sandwich. "Why is kissing so great, anyway? You're just putting your mouth against someone else's."

Yuji wanted to bang his head on the table.

"Oh, I saw a lot of movies where people kissed," Choso said. "It seemed like a lot of fun. Do you think I can kiss Yuki, Yuji?"

"Uh. Yeah, I guess?" Yuji stammered, and prayed for this conversation to be over. "Just, maybe not right away, okay?"

"Alright," Choso said, and nodded. "When, then?"

Yuji sighed.

"Um, I guess that's hard to explain. You sort of have to feel it? When the moment is right?"

Choso hummed.

"Okay. I'll wait until the moment is right," he said.

"Where are you going with her, anyway?" Yuji asked, trying to change the subject.

"Oh. I have no idea. She said it's a surprise."

Oh, right. Yuji had to remind himself that Tsukumo Yuki was quite a peculiar person.

"I'm looking forward to it. I've never been on a date," Choso said, excited.

"Well, I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun, onii-chan," Yuji told him, and smiled.

"Oh, yes. I'm sure I will."

-

"Hey, Megumi?"

"Hm?"

They were laying on the bed, with Megumi's head resting on Yuji's chest. The movie they were watching had ended, and now they were just relaxing, enjoying each other's company.

"Do you wanna go on a date?" Yuji asked.

"A date?" Megumi repeated, lifting his head.

"Yeah," Yuji nodded.

"Like, with me?"

"No, with some other guy. Of course with you," Yuji said, rolling his eyes.

"Don't roll your eyes at me," Megumi said, frowning.

"Sorry," Yuji chuckled. "So, do you want to?"

"Of course I'd like to go on a date with you, dummy. But right now, we're not exactly allowed to leave campus, you know," Megumi pointed out.

"True. But, maybe we could do something, anyway?"

"Like what?" Megumi asked, and smiled.

"Hmm, let's have a picnic. We could cook, and take the food outside," Yuji suggested.

"It's almost November," Megumi reminded him.

"So?" Yuji shrugged.

"We'd freeze to death," Megumi laughed.

"We can bring blankets," Yuji suggested.

Megumi seemed to consider this for a moment, and then smiled.

"I think I might know a place where we could go. A place no one would bother us."

"Oh? What is it?"

"You'll see."

-

The next morning, Megumi got up earlier than usual, and, without waking Yuji, he left the room, and headed for the kitchen.

"Hey, Megumi. What are you doing up so early?" Maki asked, surprised.

She was sitting at the table, drinking coffee, and reading a book.

"I need to cook," Megumi told her.

"Cook? You? At six am? Did hell freeze over or something?" Maki asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Ha-ha. Very funny. Do you mind?" Megumi asked, pointing at the fridge.

"Not at all," Maki said, and got up.

She refilled her mug with coffee, and sat down, while Megumi gathered the ingredients. Well, Megumi wasn't sure if you could even call it 'gathering'. He basically just opened the fridge, and took out everything he could find.

"What are you making, anyway?" Maki asked, curiously.

"Uh, I'm not really sure, yet," Megumi admitted.

He looked at the items on the counter, and then at the ones still in the fridge. Damn. How was he going to pull this off?

"What the fuck are you doing?" Nobara asked, coming into the kitchen.

"He's cooking. Or, trying to," Maki replied.

"At six am? Is he possessed or something?"

"That's what I said," Maki said, and smiled.

"What is wrong with you two?" Megumi grumbled.

"You're the one who's acting weird," Nobara retorted.

Megumi sighed.

"I'm not. I'm trying to cook. I want to surprise Yuji."

Nobara grinned.

"Ah, a romantic breakfast in bed. How sweet," she teased.

"We're actually going on a picnic. Training's not until twelve today, so we have time," Megumi explained.

"A picnic. At the end of October. In the freezing cold. What are you? A masochist?" Nobara asked, chuckling.

"Yuji said he wanted to," Megumi muttered, and felt his cheeks grow warm.

Nobara burst out laughing.

"God, Fushiguro. You're so whipped," she said, shaking her head. "The old you would have explained Itadori just how ridiculous his idea was."

Megumi didn't comment. She wasn't wrong.

"So, what are you cooking, anyway?" Nobara asked, eyeing the pile of very random ingredients on the counter.

"He has no idea," Maki informed her.

Megumi was tempted to throw the carton of milk at her.

"He likes rice bowls," he mumbled, staring at the food.

"Mhm. I guess you could make an oyakodon with the ingredients you've got. Need help?" Maki asked, grinning.

Megumi considered the offer for a second. Some help would definitely be useful, but he wanted to make this breakfast all by himself.

"Thanks, but, I'd rather do this on my own," he said, scratching his neck. "Maybe you could watch, though? To make sure I don't fuck anything up?"

"Sure. We'll supervise," Maki said, smirking.

"Hell yeah. This is going to be hilarious," Nobara chuckled, and took a seat.

Megumi sighed, and grabbed the rice.

"Alright, so, first, I'll cook the rice."

"Yes, please. That's the only thing I trust you with," Maki laughed.

"Fuck off," Megumi muttered, and opened the lid of the rice cooker.

-

An hour later, Megumi was scowling at the mess in front of him. He was supposed to make a simple rice bowl. Instead, he made a mess.

"How the fuck do you get eggs everywhere?" Nobara asked, staring at the counter.

"I don't know! They slipped," Megumi said, frustrated.

"What about the onions?" Maki asked, pointing at the pan. "They look like they've been chopped by a toddler."

"I tried," Megumi muttered.

He was feeling very frustrated.

"Okay, well, the chicken looks decent, and I guess you can't fuck up the sauce. Just pour the eggs in the pan, and stir them around. Should be fine," Maki said.

"Are you sure?" Megumi asked, looking at the eggs.

"Well, it's not like you can do much worse. Besides, I doubt Yuji would mind. The guy ate a crusty finger," Maki pointed out.

"Somehow, that doesn't make me feel any better," Megumi muttered.

"Stop complaining. Just try to save whatever's possible," Nobara said.

Megumi sighed, and put the eggs in the pan, stirring them together with the chicken and sauce.

"It doesn't look that bad," Maki commented.

"No. I think it looks nice, actually," Nobara agreed.

"Really?" Megumi asked, surprised.

"Well, as long as he doesn't look too closely," Nobara said, smirking.

Megumi groaned.

"Come on Megumi. Just chop up some spring onions and serve the damn food. I'm sure the kid will cry tears of joy, even if it looks like a dog ate it and then puked it up," Maki said.

Megumi rolled his eyes.

"Thanks for the encouragement," he muttered.

"You're welcome."

He was about to add the onions, when the door opened, and Gojo came in.

"Morning, everyone!" he chirped.

"Sensei. What are you doing here?" Megumi asked.

"Oh, I may or may not have received a photo of my Megumi-chan trying to cook," Gojo said, grinning. "So, of course I had to come and check it out."

"Who sent it to you?" Megumi asked, and glanced at Nobara and Maki.

"Not me," the girls said in unison.

"Traitors," Megumi muttered.

"Anyway, are you making Yuji a surprise breakfast?" Gojo asked.

"A picnic," Megumi corrected him.

"Aw. That's adorable. And what is that supposed to be?" Gojo said, peering at the bowl.

"Uh. It's an oyakodon."

"It's an oyakodone. Completely different," Nobara whispered to Maki, who burst out laughing.

Megumi huffed.

"I can hear you."

"Alright, alright. I'm sure Yuji will love it. Even if it looks like a three year old made it," Gojo said, patting Megumi's shoulder. "I can't believe you're trying so hard, Megumi. My little baby is growing up."

"Oh my God. Will you stop it?" Megumi muttered, blushing.

"Never."

"Go away," Megumi groaned.

"Okay, okay. I'll leave. I wouldn't want to distract you, anyway. Good luck!"

"Thank you," Megumi said, and started chopping the spring onions.

-

When Yuji woke up, Megumi's side of the bed was empty.

"Hm. Megumi?"

No answer.

Yuji sat up, rubbing his eyes, and looked around. The clock said 7:32. Was Megumi in the shower?

Yuji decided to wait, and laid back down.

Five minutes passed.

Then, ten.

And, finally, after fifteen, Yuji was starting to get worried. He was just about to go look for his boyfriend, when the door opened, and Megumi entered the room.

"Good morning, sleepyhead," he said, smiling.

"Megumi. Where were you?" Yuji asked. "And, uh, what's that in your hair?"

"Oh, fuck," Megumi groaned, and took the eggshell out of his hair.

"Is that an eggshell?" Yuji asked, amused.

"No. It's a unicorn horn," Megumi said, rolling his eyes.

"Okay, okay. Sorry," Yuji chuckled. "So, why are you covered in egg, anyway?"

Megumi blushed.

"Uh. Well. I may or may not have made breakfast for us. And, uh, I got some blankets, and, we could go have a picnic, if you'd like," he said, looking away.

Yuji stared at him, eyes wide.

"Really? Are you serious?"

"Yes," Megumi muttered, his blush darkening.

Yuji couldn't believe his ears. Megumi had woken up early, and prepared a breakfast for him. And, now he wanted to go on a picnic. With him. At the end of October. Just because Yuji had suggested it.

Yuji couldn't contain his smile.

"Oh, Megumi," he sighed, and pulled Megumi into his arms.

"What are you doing?"

"Hugging you. Thank you so much."

"Idiot," Megumi muttered, but Yuji could feel him smiling against his shoulder. "You'll get eggs on your shirt."

"I don't care," Yuji laughed. "So, where are we having our picnic?"

"Let's get dressed and I'll show you."

Yuji grinned, and jumped out of the bed.

He got ready in record time, and fifteen minutes later, they were standing in front of the dorm building, with the basket full of food, and a pile of blankets.

"Come on. Follow me," Megumi said, taking the blankets.

"Okay," Yuji said, and picked up the basket.

"I don't think you've been to this part of the campus before," Megumi told him, as they were walking.

"Well, I haven't seen a lot of it, to be honest," Yuji said.

"That's true," Megumi murmured.

He led Yuji to the very edge of the grounds, where there was a small hill.

"We're having a picnic on a hill?" Yuji asked.

"Yeah. Look."

Yuji stared at the view in front of him and his jaw dropped.

The skyline of Tokyo was visible from where they were standing. It was still quite early, and the sun had just risen, so the city was lit up by the soft morning light.

The whole sight was absolutely breathtaking.

"Wow," Yuji breathed out.

Megumi's face softened, and he smiled.

"Let's spread the blanket."

They placed the food, and laid the rest of the blankets on the ground, and then, sat down.

"I'm so happy, right now," Yuji sighed, and took the bowls from the basket.

Megumi didn't say anything. He just smiled, and handed Yuji a pair of chopsticks.

Yuji took the lid off his bowl, and almost gasped.

"You made me a rice bowl?"

"It was supposed to be an oyakodon," Megumi admitted. "But, well, it might look a bit different than the ones you're used to."

Yuji looked at the food in his hands.

The egg wasn't very even, and the onions weren't very neat, and the chicken looked a bit burnt, and, overall, the food looked really messy, but, Yuji didn't care.

"Did you cook this all by yourself?"

"Yeah," Megumi said, and looked away. "I'm sorry if it's not very good."

Yuji felt like crying.

"Megumi. You made this for me."

"It's not a big deal," Megumi said, embarrassed.

"Yes, it is. You woke up early, and prepared this, just for me. No one has ever done that. And, I'm sure the food will taste delicious," Yuji said, smiling.

"If you say so," Megumi muttered. "Kugisaki and Maki supervised to make sure I don't poison us."

"Well, that was nice of them," Yuji laughed.

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure they got a kick out of watching me suffer," Megumi mumbled.

Yuji picked up his chopsticks, and took a bite.

The sauce was a bit salty, the egg was a bit hard, and the chicken may or may not have been overcooked. And yet, it was the best damn food Yuji had ever tasted.

A wave of emotions crashed over him, and his eyes filled with tears.

Megumi noticed, and looked worried.

"Shit. Did I mess it up that badly?"

"No, you didn't," Yuji sniffled, and wiped his eyes. "It's amazing. Thank you so much."

Megumi's expression softened.

"Don't cry," he said, smiling.

"Sorry. It's just, this is the best gift anyone has ever given me," Yuji told him.

"It's just a stupid breakfast, Yuji."

"I don't care. It's the best thing in the world."

Megumi blushed, and looked away.

"Just shut up and eat," he muttered, and took a bite of his own bowl.

"I will. I will. And I'm going to savor every single bite."

-

Two hours later, when they were so cold that their teeth were chattering, they finally gave up and returned to the dorm building.

"I have never been so cold in my entire life," Yuji chattered.

"Well, you're the one who insisted on having a picnic at the end of October."

"True. But it was worth it. It was so nice. The food was amazing, and the view was beautiful, and the company was the best," Yuji said, beaming.

"Idiot," Megumi muttered, trying, and failing, to hide his blush.

"I still can't believe you did that for me."

"Stop talking about it," Megumi said, his face bright red.

"But it was so sweet," Yuji sighed.

"Just shut up and let's go take a warm shower. We have training soon, remember?"

Yuji grinned.

"Yeah, come on. I'll wash the egg out of your hair."

Megumi rolled his eyes, but Yuji could tell that he was smiling.

-

Choso was waiting for Yuki, at the gates of the school.

He was very excited to go on a date with her. He made sure to watch a lot of romantic movies, so that he could act like a gentleman. He wasn't exactly sure what that entailed, but he figured that if he behaved like the guys in the films, Yuki would enjoy the date.

"Choso! Hi!" she greeted him, grinning.

"Hi," Choso replied, smiling.

"Ready?"

"Yes," he said, and held out his hand.

Yuki giggled, and took it.

"So, where are we going, Yuki?" he asked, as they were walking.

"Oh, I was thinking we could go to TeamLab Planets. Do you know it?"

"Uh. No. I don't," Choso admitted.

"You'll love it. It's really beautiful," Yuki told him, smiling.

"Then, let's go there."

They got in the car and Yuki told the driver where to take them.

"I'll pay for the tickets. Don't worry," she said.

"No, no. I'll pay. A gentleman pays," Choso told her.

Yuki laughed.

"Who told you that?"

"Well, the guys in the movies always pay," Choso said, confused.

"What movies have you been watching, Choso?" Yuki asked, grinning.

"Romantic ones," Choso declared, proudly. "I wanted to learn how to be a gentleman."

Yuki stared at him, for a second, and then burst out laughing.

"Oh, my God. Choso," she chuckled, wiping her eyes. "You're adorable. You don't have to act like a gentleman, silly."

"But, the guys in the movies were really nice," Choso protested.

"But I want you to act like yourself, Choso," Yuki said, smiling. "And you are a very nice person."

"I am?"

"Of course. You're really sweet. And you make me laugh," Yuki told him. "Besides, I'm not the kind of girl who likes gentlemen."

"You aren't?"

"No. I like guys who are a bit rough around the edges," Yuki said, smirking.

Choso didn't know what she meant, but he nodded, anyway.

"So, I can be myself?"

"Yes."

"Okay," Choso sighed. "I was having a lot of trouble acting like a gentleman. I have no idea how they do it."

"I don't, either," Yuki said, giggling.

Choso smiled, and relaxed. He was glad that he didn't have to pretend to be someone else. He would just act like himself, and have fun.

They finally arrived at the museum, and entered the exhibition.

"Wow. This place is beautiful," Choso said, awed.

"Wait until we go inside."

Choso grinned, and let Yuki lead him through the building.

She was right. The whole place was absolutely breathtaking. The way the rooms were lit up was unlike anything Choso had ever seen before. There were sounds and music, and lights everywhere.

It was mesmerizing.

"I'm glad I brought you here, Choso. You're really enjoying this, aren't you?"

"Yes," Choso murmured, staring at the ceiling. "I love it."

Yuki laughed, and squeezed his hand.

"Come on. Let's keep going."

Choso followed her, looking around, in complete awe.

He had no idea that the human world could be so beautiful.

They explored the exhibition, and Choso was amazed, by each and every room.

He had been a bit nervous, before the date, but, now, he felt really happy, and comfortable, just being with Yuki.

They were just laying on the floor in a room, watching the visuals above them, when Yuki reached out, and intertwined her fingers with his.

Choso felt his heartbeat quicken. Oh. So that's what Yuji must have felt when he was around Fushiguro.

"Are you having fun?" Yuki asked, smiling.

"Yes. Are you?"

"Yes. Thank you for coming here with me," she said, and sat up. "Wanna see the next room?"

"Sure," Choso said, and they got up, and went to explore the rest of the exhibition.

They entered one of the rooms, and Choso felt his feet sink in the soft material of the floor.

"Oh, I like this room," he declared, and started jumping up and down.

The shape of the ground was really interesting, and Choso couldn't stop moving around, and playing.

Yuki joined him, and after a few minutes, they were both stumbling and falling, because of the soft floor. It was really fun, and Choso found himself laughing, and Yuki was giggling, and holding onto him, to keep her balance.

After a while, they stopped jumping around, and just sat on the floor.

"We look ridiculous," Yuki told him, chuckling.

"Is that bad?"

"No," Yuki said, and rested her head on his shoulder.

Choso felt his breath hitch, and he put his arm around her.

"Do you know what I like about you, Choso?"

"What?"

"You're a bit different from everyone else," Yuki told him, and turned to smile at him.

"Different?"

"Yeah. Most people try to impress me. They act like they're more interesting than they actually are. But, you, I don't think you're capable of faking anything. You're completely honest. Even if it's something silly, like announcing that your favorite thing about humans is boobs," she laughed. "You're a bit clueless sometimes, but, I find it refreshing. And, it's quite cute, honestly."

Choso felt his cheeks heat up.

"I like you, too, Yuki," he murmured. "I've never been on a date before, and, I was worried that I'd screw up. But, I'm having a lot of fun."

"Me too," she said, smiling.

"Good."

"Wanna get out of here?" Yuki asked.

"Where are we going?"

"To a restaurant," she told him, grinning.

"Okay. Lead the way."

Yuki laughed, and took his hand.

-

Choso had no idea that restaurants were that expensive. He had been quite worried, when Yuki had suggested going there. After all, he only had the money Yuji had given him before the date.

But, Yuki just chuckled and called him silly, and said that she'd pay.

So, now they were sitting at a table, and Yuki was ordering food.

"What is your favorite dish, Choso?" she asked.

"Oh, uh, well, I haven't tried many dishes, actually," he admitted.

"Then, I'll just get a few different things to share," Yuki decided, and turned to the waiter.

Choso just nodded.

When the food finally arrived, Choso was a bit surprised. He hadn't expected so many dishes.

"Wow," he murmured, as he stared at the plates in front of him.

"Well, help yourself," Yuki said, and poured him a glass of wine.

Choso grabbed the chopsticks, and started eating.

"Mmm," he sighed, after the first bite. "This is delicious."

Yuki laughed, and Choso turned to look at her.

"I'm glad you like it. What do you think of the wine?"

Choso took a sip, and hummed.

"It's good," he declared.

Yuki smiled, and they continued eating.

Choso had to admit, this was a lot better than the instant ramen that he and Yuji ate, back at the school.

He had no idea that food could taste that good.

"So, how's being a human going?" Yuki asked, pouring herself another glass of wine.

"I think I like it," Choso said, and wiped his mouth. "I wasn't sure if I was allowed to feel like a human. But, I think I am."

"Why wouldn't you be allowed to feel like a human?" Yuki asked, confused.

"Well, because, I'm only half-human. I thought I had to be more of a curse than a human," Choso explained.

"Nonsense. You're a human, Choso," Yuki told him, sternly. "You're allowed to decide what kind of person you are. And you can be human. That's your choice."

Choso looked at her, for a moment, and then, smiled.

"Okay. I can be a human. Like you," he said, beaming.

Yuki chuckled.

"Exactly. And, you can enjoy life, like me. And have fun. Like me," she told him. "With me."

"Okay. With you."

"Good," Yuki said, smiling.

They finished the meal, and, once they were done, Yuki got up, and took his hand.

"Let's go outside."

"Okay," Choso agreed, and followed her.

They exited the restaurant, and walked to the nearby park. Yuki gestured for him to sit down, and Choso did.

"Look. The stars are beautiful, aren't they?"

Choso stared at the sky.

"Yes. They are."

Choso suddenly remembered what Yuji had said about kissing, and the right moment.

He wasn't sure if now was the right moment, but he thought it was worth trying.

"Yuki?"

"Yeah?"

"I have a question."

"Okay. Ask away."

"I've heard that some humans like to kiss each other," Choso said, slowly.

"Some do," Yuki agreed, amused.

"Yuji said that I'm supposed to wait for the right moment, before I do it."

Yuki looked at him, and chuckled.

"Did he, now?"

"Yes. Do you think this is the right moment, Yuki?"

"I don't know," Yuki told him, and reached out, to cup his cheek. "Why don't you tell me? Is it the right moment, Choso?"

Choso's eyes widened. Oh. This was the right moment.

He nodded, and then leaned in.

Yuki smiled, and closed her eyes, and, so, Choso did the same.

And then, their lips touched, and Choso's heart felt like it was going to burst.

It was so warm. And, nice.

Yuki's lips were so soft.

She tasted like wine, and smelled like the perfume she always wore, and Choso thought that this was the best feeling in the world.

Choso realized that he was probably supposed to move his lips, and not just press them together, so he tried, and Yuki chuckled, and kissed him harder.

Choso thought he was going to explode.

Finally, Yuki pulled away, and grinned.

"So, Choso. Did you like that?"

"Yes. Can we do it again?"

Yuki laughed.

"Of course."

And so, Choso decided that being human was the best thing ever.

-

The week had gone by so fast.

Yuji spent most of his time training with his brothers, only seeing Megumi in the evenings. He could tell that his boyfriend was exhausted from his training sessions with Gojo, and, while he didn't ask any questions, Yuji could tell that Gojo was pushing him hard.

But, there was a newfound confidence in Megumi's posture, and Yuji could tell that, whatever it was, was making him stronger.

They were having dinner with Tsumiki, on Saturday evening, and Yuji could finally feel himself relax, and let go of the tension he had been carrying with him, all week.

"You're a great cook, Tsumiki," he said, grinning.

"Thank you," she replied, smiling.

"This curry is delicious."

"I tried to teach Megumi how to cook, but, unfortunately, it was a complete disaster," Tsumiki said, sighing. "Plus, he never had the patience to learn."

"Oh, but Megumi cooked me a delicious meal the other day. We had a picnic at the school, and he made all the food," Yuji said, excited.

Tsumiki chuckled.

"Nobara texted me some photos of his little cooking adventure. He was covered in food," she said, and took out her phone. "Look. This is the kitchen. I didn't even recognize it."

Yuji grinned, as he stared at the picture.

"Megumi! Is that a smashed egg on the floor? And are those flour stains? The recipe doesn't even call for flour."

"That's why I didn't use it," Megumi grumbled, taking a sip of his soda.

"How did you even get a stain on the ceiling?" Tsumiki laughed.

"I don't wanna talk about it," Megumi muttered.

"Did he really do all that for you?" Tsumiki asked, turning to look at Yuji.

"Uh. Yes," Yuji said, his face turning red.

Tsumiki grinned.

"How sweet."

"Shut up, Tsumiki."

"You know, when we were little, before we met Satoru, Megumi used to try to make food for me," Tsumiki said, grinning. "But, all we had was crackers, and he tried to make soup from water and crackers."

"Oh no, we're not doing stories about the past," Megumi said, sighing. "Please."

"Oh, but it's so fun!"

"Tsumiki."

"He would bring a little bowl of cracker soup to my room, and say 'here, eat' with a scowl on his face, and then he'd stare at me, to make sure I was actually eating it," Tsumiki said, smiling fondly.

"Oh, really?" Yuji asked, grinning.

"Yes."

"You're both horrible."

"I didn't want her to starve," Megumi said, shrugging.

"It was very thoughtful of you, Megumi-chan."

"You're mocking me."

"Of course not. I was grateful for the cracker soup," Tsumiki said, and turned to look at Yuji. "And he brought me flowers once."

"Oh?"

"I did not."

"You did. When I was sick. You picked some daisies from the school yard, and you walked up to me with this super serious expression, and you placed them next to me, and said 'here'," Tsumiki laughed.

"That didn't happen. You were probably hallucinating from the fever."

They continued bickering, and Yuji watched, with a fond smile.

He was glad that she was okay.

-

"I hope everyone is progressing well with their training. Today, we will be announcing the pairs for the second switch training," Gojo announced, grinning.

Everyone seemed excited, and Megumi felt the familiar sense of anxiety.

The aim of switch training was to have as many people learn the basics of a Simple Domain and Reverse Cursed Technique, as possible, and while most people had been paired with someone who was skillful at one one of these, having been paired with Gojo meant that Megumi had the chance to learn both after his first switch.

Not that had become very proficient in either, yet.

Although Gojo had been pushing him to his limits, and he was able to maintain a Simple Domain barrier for a whole minute now, he still couldn't manage to focus his cursed energy on healing himself.

During one of the trainings, he had managed to heal a paper cut, and Gojo had clapped his back, and ruffled his hair, saying that he had done well.

Megumi had never thought he'd be so pleased with such a small accomplishment.

"Now, I know you all are curious about who your partners are, so, let's get straight to it," Gojo declared.

He started reading out names, and, to Megumi's surprise, when the teacher finally called his name, he said "Megumi, you'll be switching with Kusakabe-san."

Megumi turned to look at the man. He hadn't interacted much with him, but he knew that he was said to be the best sword-wielder among the jujutsu sorcerers, and was highly skilled in martial arts, as well.

That meant that Gojo wanted Megumi to focus on hand-to-hand combat, which, he supposed, made sense.

It also meant that Megumi was up for a week of bruises and aching muscles, but he felt strangely excited about the prospect.

"Now, let's begin."

A/N: Soo, two dates, and a bit of fluff in this chapter! I hope you liked it.

A lot of you must know this, but TeamLab Planets is an actual exhibition that is located in Tokyo, and it's really cool! Dunno why, but I felt like it was something I could imagine Choso and Yuki doing together.

Also, Megumi's cooking adventures. That was fun to write.

Anyway, thank you for reading! I look forward to your thoughts! ❤️
