What It Takes For A Night Out
Author's Note: I am so sorry for the really long wait. I just got pretty distracted by my other stories and almost forgot about this one, but I promise I'll try to not do that again. Anyway thank you again to annewheelerfab1 for letting me use Pumpkin and her other OCs that aren't in this chapter yet, but they will be soon. Anyway I hope you enjoy this chapter and please let me know what you all thought.
Tessa just quickly found a spot as she sat down and placed the baby car seat down by her feet. She knew that was probably not the safest place to be putting an actual living baby, but she didn't really have a choice.
This was the best way for her to blend in with the crowd to not be seen and she was right there in case anything did happen.
Tessa tried her best to pay attention to what was being said but her mind kept wandering off to other things. She was brought back to reality though when she heard Reed mention how he found his Cinderella.
She was having mixed feelings about this. There was no way that it was her which made her sad, but at the same time it was a relief to not have to keep hiding it from her step family especially when she was already hiding the fact that she was raising a baby right now.
Just as Tessa was about to just accept that she wouldn't be getting this part she heard Reed say something that almost caused her heart to stop with shock as she realized that Reed had been talking about her.
Tessa didn't know how to react. On one hand she was excited that she was good enough to actually be Reed's Cinderella, but on the other she didn't know if she actually wanted to go through with it. She would be in serious trouble if her step family actually did find out that this mystery girl was actually her.
As soon as Reed finished his speech everyone started taking off running in search of this shoe that Tessa honestly thought was ridiculous considering she had the other shoe and it's not like they were just going to find it.
Tessa sighed in relief though as she realized that she had gotten lucky as everyone was so obsessed with looking for this shoe that they didn't notice Mal. "Alright we got lucky Mal. Come on let's get back to the laundry room," Tessa told the small baby as she quickly left the auditorium and made her way back to her "room."
Tessa sighed as she reached the "room" no matter how much she tried she just couldn't feel comfortable in this crammed little space and as if she could read Tessa's mind Mal started crying letting her know she didn't like it either.
"Okay you know what scratch that we're going to go out for a little bit okay," Tessa told the small baby as she picked her up and placed her back into her car seat making Mal giggle and coo excitedly.
Tessa just smiled as she tickled Mal a little, making her giggle more before Tessa remembered she should probably disguise herself again as she picked the car seat up and carefully made her way to her new friend's make up trailer.
"Okay Tessa you can do this just knock on the door," Tessa told herself as she made it to the makeup trailer, but was hesitant to knock as she knew it was late and she didn't want to be disrupting Georgie.
Before Tessa had time to keep thinking it over Mal threw one of her new toys at the door causing Georgie to hear the loud noise as she immediately got up and opened the door.
"Tessa?" Georgie asked as she looked at her new friend who was almost frozen in shock as she wasn't expecting that. Tessa immediately snapped out of it as she bent down and picked up Mal's toy. "Good job Mal," Tessa whispered quietly to the baby as she handed her the toy back, making Mal coo excitedly.
"Hey Georgie I'm sorry if we woke you up," Tessa told Georgie who just looked at her friend as she tried to figure out what was going on. "No you're fine but what's wrong?" Georgie told Tessa as she opened the door more and motioned for her to come inside.
"Nothing much, it's just a little cramped in that "room" and I wanted to go out for some fresh air for a little bit, but I don't want to get caught if someone sees me with Mal," Tessa told Georgie who nodded as she listened to the slightly younger girl.
"Well you can stay here for a little bit if you want. I don't mind and Pumpkin loves Mal," Georgie told Tessa who sighed as she wanted to stay, but she also could just use quiet one on one time with Mal.
"Thanks Georgie maybe in a little bit, but I was actually coming to see if you could make me look like how you did for my audition again," Tessa nervously told her friend making Georgie smile as she looked at her.
"Of course and just a reminder that my trailer is always open to you, so if you ever find yourself wanting to get away please don't hesitate to stop by okay," Georgie told Tessa who smiled as she nodded.
"Thanks Georgie," Tessa told her friend as she unbuckled Mal and placed her down, letting the small girl crawl around freely. "Anytime," Georgie told Tessa as she sat her down and began to help disguise her again.
"Oh my gosh thank you so much you seriously are the best," Tessa told Georgie once Georgie had finished up with her makeup look and she once again looked like how she did for her audition.
"Just doing my job," Georgie playfully told her friend, making them both laugh as Tessa got up. "Mal come on we're leaving now," Tessa called out but she began to panic when she got no response from the tiny girl and she realized she didn't see her anywhere.
"Oh my gosh! Where's Mal!" Tessa cried out as she started looking around causing Georgie to look over as she saw Pumpkin looking suspicious. Georgie just sighed as she looked at Pumpkin. "Pumpkin, do you know where Mal is?" Georgie asked her puppy who just tried to look away as she didn't want to admit where she was hiding the small baby.
Georgie just got more frustrated as she could see how worried her slightly younger friend was getting as she just glared at her puppy giving her the stern I'm not playing look. "Pumpkin, this isn't funny. I know you love her, but she needs to go with Tessa. Now I'm going to ask you again. Do you know where Mal is?" Georgie told Pumpkin in her stern voice causing Pumpkin to give in as she went to one of the holes in the floor as she moved to reveal the baby who she had been hiding in the hole.
"Tessa it's okay I found Mal," Georgie called out as she continued to glare at her puppy for hiding Mal causing Pumpkin to look down as she knew she had disappointed her owner, but she just didn't want Mal to leave again.
"Wait you did! Where is she!" Tessa cried out causing Georgie to go over to her friend as she brought her over to the hole. "What is she doing in that hole," Tessa exclaimed as she immediately bent down to grab Mal causing Mal to giggle as she saw her.
"Mama!" Mal cooed out excitedly as she reached for Tessa making Tessa smile again as she picked her up and hugged her close while Georgie just looked at Tessa in shock. "I don't want to ruin this adorable moment, but did she just call you mama," Georgie asked her friend, making Tessa laugh.
"Yeah she did. I don't know she started calling me that and I mean it's kinda wrong to correct her," Tessa told Georgie nervously as she still felt weird about the idea of being called mama but at the same time it felt right.
"I see well that does make sense. And I'm really sorry that pumpkin tried to hide Mal from you. She's definitely going to get a stern talking to once you leave," Georgie told Tessa who just smiled again as she grabbed the car seat and buckled Mal back in.
"It's fine she didn't mean any harm by it. I find it cute that she wanted Mal to stay that badly. I could probably have done without the panic attack but it's all good. Anyway it's getting late so I should probably go. I'll be back in a few hours to change back if you're okay with that?" Tessa told Georgie who smiled as she hugged her.
"Well I'm still going to talk to her about it and of course. Like I said my trailer is always open if you need it," Georgie told the younger girl who laughed again as she released the hug. "Great, thank you so much. You seriously are the best I swear," Tessa told Georgie as she left the trailer.
"Okay Mal, now where do you want to go?" Tessa playfully asked the baby in her fake British accent, making Mal giggle.
